I am scheduled for surgery on June 28th and have been on my 10 day high protein liquid diet for one week now and it's hell! I am a carb junkie so it's been extremely difficult, the shakes do nothing for my hunger. I have cheated a little and felt bad but I was so hungry it was effecting my energy and brain! I have been on mostly high protein liquids the whole time but I have eaten a little and I refuse to beat myself up about it because I have to have energy--I work 2 jobs and have 3 children. I have just tried to make healthy choices when I do need to eat something. Can't wait til after surgery when I won't actually be so hungry. My advice is just do your best and don't beat yourself up : )

Yaaay, you will be happy with your choice, I know I am! You can do this, dont give up...look at the big picture. The liquid diets are hell for sure but keep the faith...hugs to you!

My Journey began in November of 2011 when I decided on the RNY procedure. I had to attend 6 months of dietician appointments for my insurance approval and had my surgical consult 6/13/12. I was set on RNY but then my surgeon was sort of leaning towards the sleeve for me. I initially said no because I hadn’t researched the sleeve at all. After leaving his office, I spent the next 2 days researching the sleeve and then had a change of heart. I am scheduled for surgery on 6/28/12 and have decided to go with VSG, mostly thanks to this forum and all of the positive things you all have to say about the sleeve. I started my 10 day liquid diet yesterday and feel like I am going to die! How can people do this?? The protein shakes do nothing for my hunger but I am sticking to it (for now). I will write again as my big day approaches : )
