    Dec Bandster Update

I was banded on 12/27 I don't have my first follow up til 1/14. My daughters had doctor appointments today so I decided to weigh myself and I'm done about 9 lbs. My heaviest weight was 284 surgery day I was 255 and today I'm 246. I'm a little disappointed I thought I would lose more especially after being in the hospital for 4 days with little to drink. But I guess just sitting or laying around isn't going to do much. Congrats on the weight loss Millie!
  5. I was banded last Friday and was released from the hospital on Monday on full liquids. I can't seem to be satisfied on anything I eat. The only thing that's somewhat satisfying are Protein shakes, sf Jello, sf pudding, sf frozen fruit bars, sf pudding pops and the broth from Campbell's chicken noodle Soup but all of that is getting old and its only been 5 days. I tried blending up the chicken noodle soup and I think it tastes horrible. Any ideas??? I can switch to a pureed diet next Friday. Is the pureed diet considered the mushie stage? Any advice is appreciated.

    Struggling

Thanks! I have been reading a lot about the egg drop soup, are you able to have the egg or just the broth? I did try the cream of chicken and added the minced chicken but I wasn't a fan. Will have to try the other suggestions.
  7. I was banded on Friday and wasn't released until this afternoon because of some complications. I'm allowed clear and full liquids. How do you know that you have had enough to eat on the liquid diets? I just had a scoop of chicken stock out of a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup (i can't stand plain chicken broth) and was able to eat all of it. Does the no drinking rule only apply when you are on soft/solid foods? I also have 5 incisions is that normal. I thought they only made about 3 cuts. I'm still not sure of where my port is located. I do have one incision that's larger than the others. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Thanks! My large incision is above my belly button and off to the left so I guess that's where my port is, I guess I thought I would be able to feel it but I can't. All I have been eating since yesterday is chicken stock, Jello, popsicles and flavored Water (CL drops). Goin to get some cream Soups tomorrow and mix them up and the blender and goin to try out the Protein shakes. I'm also attempting to have the swelling go down by switching between heating pad and ice packs. Anything other than hot and cold help with the swelling? Thanks for advice.
  9. I'm being banded on Friday, 12/27 and I start my clear liquid diet at midnight tonight. I have got my jello, broth and popsicles ready. Has anyone been told during their clear liquid diet that they can't have flavored jello? I bought raspberry, strawberry banana and peach. Hoping I can eat it. Happy Holidays!

    Being Banded on Friday

Thanks! I did buy the sugar free so I'm going to eat it. Good luck with your insurance approval.
  11. I'm scheduled to be banded on 12/26 at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. I started the process last year and backed out the first time. I have resolved some issues and I'm now moving forward. I'm out of my mind nervous but trying to think of all the positives. Last time I weighed in I was 265ish and my goal weight is 150. I read alot about pre-op diets and I havent been told about any pre-op diet. Is this normal??? I was kind of hoping I could eat xmas day, lol, but if not oh well.

  14. I originally started this process back in 2012 completed the lifestyle program, met with Dr. Corcoulas, had all my pre-op appts (EKG, upper gi, psych, nutrition) finished with the exception of my blood work, physical and then the nerves took over and I backed out. Fast forward to this summer that I had enough courage to start the process over. So again all of the pre-op appts have been completed with the exception of my physical and bloodwork, I did not have to repeat the upper gi (thank goodness) and the lifestyle program. I'm not looking forward to the upper gi the day after surgery. My surgery was originally scheduled for 12/26 with Dr. Corcoulas @ Magee Womens Hospital however I decided to switch doctors to Dr. McCloskey and am now scheduled on 12/27. Dr. M is the only doctor currently doing plication along with the lap band, she is running a study that I'm now part of. Unfortunately I won't know if i got the plication or not until the study is over (3 years). I have no pre-op diet but I'm starting to try to limit myself to what and how much I'm eating. I will meet with Dr. McCloskey on 12/10 to watch a video, finish the blood work and physical. My initial appts were pretty quick with Dr. Corcoulas. I knew quite a bit about what I was getting into, researched quite a bit and have had friends that have gone with gastric bypass. I have recently been looking for a Protein shake for my week of full liquids and a friend recommended About Time which is a local company. The shake I tried was the chocolate one and contained 24g of protein. Tastes like a pretty weak chocolate milk even my kids tasted it and didnt spit it out lol. It's nice to see other local banders. JennieT311 looks like we are having surgery the same day at the same place

    Banded today!! 11/4

Hello!!!. I visited this site last year when I was contemplating surgery, I ended up backing out. I again decided to have the lap band surgery and im scheduled on 12/26 and I'm trying to keep my fears and anxiety at a minimum. I too live in Pittsburgh and will be having the surgery at Magee. Can you give me any good, bad advice and your experience with pre-op and post-op with the doctors there. I hope you are doing well for only being post-op a few days.
