  1. 15 lbs is great!!! What kind of eating plan are you doing? I'm scheduled for Friday August 17. I can't wait!!!! This pre op diet is not very much fun at all. I'm on day 7 and down 10 lbs- so I know it's working!
  2. I'm on day 7 and I'm down 10 lbs. it's been hard emotionally- but I've been doing ok. I know this weight is going FOR GOOD this time. Thats what is keeping me from crashing and burning at this point!! Good luck everyone!!!!!
  3. Yay! Someone else from Utah on here! How did your sleeve go in Mexico? I'm doing fine- just trying to make it through my pre op diet.
  4. Day 6 pre op diet- and I have to say my hormones are raging- Im feeling grumpy and for the first time in this process feeling scared. My husband was not 100% on board with WLS so I promised myself I would shut my mouth and not complain about missing eating- I feel like I have no right to be upset because this was my choice and I have to live with it. I just don't like feeling scared when I know this is what I NEED and WANT. I need to get out of this funk.
  5. Approved July 23- scheduled for surgery August 17 for me. It took about 2 weeks for the office to call to schedule me once I was approved.
  6. Day 5 for me here! it's hard but has been worth the hunger for me!
  7. Thanks everyone! I'm glad that is getting taken care of sooner than later! Just hope it doesn't prolong my recovery much- maybe a little extra time off work will be all I need to feel 100% again.
  8. So I had an ultrasound today of my gallbladder and apparently it's full of gallstones. The tech was surprised I had not had any known issues or attacks. This means my gallbladder will be removed at the time of surgery. I know this is common- what kind of recovery am I looking at for both the removal of my stomach and gallbladder?
  9. Hi all! I'm being sleeved on 8/17. I am on day 3 of pre op diet! I can't believe I have 12 days left. Good luck to all that are changing their lives for the better this month! -Emily
  10. I'm on day 3 pre op diet and my surgeon suggested 2 meal replacement shakes (breakfast and lunch) and a low calorie/low carb sensible dinner- not exceeding 1000 cal each day. I've been doing well except I've had breakfast as my meal instead of dinner a few times. Also I've had jerky a few times to curb my hunger and drinking water like crazie. Saturday I was 282- today I was 276... So whatever I'm doing must be working. My surgeon says I could do whatever weight loss plan works for me as long as I lose it's not a big deal! I'm getting sleeved 8/17- and so freaking excited!!! good luck to you!
  11. I'd like to join your group if that's ok? Being sleeved 8/17-- started my pre op diet today! -Emily
  12. Awesome! Are you starting your pre op diet soon? I'm starting tomorrow- I'm gonna need a pre op diet buddy! It will be here in no time flat!
  13. I happy so happy they finally called to schedule me. My pre op class is August 15- and surgery is August 17. Things are starting to feel very real now!!
  14. Yay! Congratulations!!! I bet we will have a close date- Im still waiting to be scheduled!
  15. The way Cigna words it is such: "a separate medical evaluation from a physician other than the requesting surgeon that includes both a recommendation for bariatric surgery as well as a medical clearance for surgery" In my surgeons office they say the insurance requires a separate "medical clearance" appointment- that should be your "reason for visit" I know this because I tried to get my Dr (who had been seeing me for the last 6 months- and knew every little thing about me) to write me up a recommendation and clearance for surgery and the surgeons office said that wouldn't work. It has to be a separate appointment. It was a pain- and a waste of money- but that was what I had to do to get my approval. Good luck!!!!
  16. I Submited on July 16. Called every day after. It was in the medical directors desk July 24 morning. Called later in the day and got my approval! The letter came 3 days later. You are very close! Good luck!
  17. I'm in SLC too ladies. I'm going to St. Marks with Dr. Mckinlay. Luck everyone!!!
  18. In 5' 2" and at my highest (last August) I was 330. For me that was size was "the biggest thing I could find in the store" I completely ignored anything with short sleeves- (because I have very thick arms) and anything form fitting. Pants were 26/28 and they were mostly snug. After my 6 month medically supervised diet I am around 281 and pant size 22 fits me. All my old T-shirts are getting very big. I went shopping the other day to get some capris for post op- I found 2 pair of size 20. One I managed to squeeze my booty into ( and even button and zip) and the other I couldn't even get my leg down. I bought both because I know I will be able to wear them- one day! So I think there are a lot of different factors that determine sizing like height, weight distribution, manufacture, and body style. We are all so different. Ps. I'm totally jealous of overweight people with skinny arms- what I would do to wear a sleeveless shirt!!! My kids joke about me having bat wings now- I can't wait to see what they say 120lbs from now!!! I'm so self conscious of my dang arms!
  19. Got my approval July 24- and I swear I'm going bonkers waiting for the surgeons office to actually schedule my surgery! It seems like they are taking a long time verifying my approval and checking my benefits. They say could be another week before they call to schedule me!!!! Is that normal? This by far has been the hardest waiting period for me. I feel like I can't plan anything in advance- in fear I'll be in recovery or on a grueling 2 week pre op diet. Ugh just frustrated a little. I'm sooo not a patient person- and this is testing my patience!!!
  20. I was in a similar situation with things not being so good at home during my pre approval process. My husband made some bad choices- and I'll tell you what- I'd be damned if he slowed down or pushed out my progress for my surgery. I was scared of the psyc eval also- but had the support of my MD and my personal therapist that no matter what was going on at home- there was no better time to work on improving myself. They fully supported surgery- and said I should most definatly move forward. I ultimately decided to push out my psyc eval for 6 weeks- in fear of me bursting into tears and melting down at what a mess my life had become. It was no big deal however since I had 3 more months of a supervised weight loss plan to follow. When I felt more mentally stable- I made my appointment and went in. I was honest and my psyc eval went wonderful. He asked very little about my home life- and could see how determined I was to do this for myself-- no one else! Now is the time for you to do just that- keep your eye on the prize and stay focused. If you are not able to do your psyc eval today- maybe you will feel stronger, better tomorrow- things will get better!
