Glitsycat reacted to elcee in What A Difference A Band MakesA couple of photos of me which I think really show the difference that having a band has made to me.
The first photo was taken at my daughters Debutantes ball , in 2006. The second was 2 weeks ago at my son's Debutantes ball.
I look and feel so much better, not too bad for someone that is turning 50 this year.

Glitsycat reacted to gettinghealthymama in Completed An Entire WorkoutI was banded in April and lot 55 lbs. I weighed myself for my this morning and didn't lose anything from last weeks weigh in. I was feeling upset but instead of eating whatever I could get my hands on I went to the gym. I completed an entire ActivTrax workout for the first time. Entire body workout with weights and 40 mins cardo. I struggled some but I did it and feeling pretty darn good!!!

Glitsycat reacted to xsentrick in Question From Women To MenWell I guess that depends on a few things. How old is your husband? Has he always been this way? Perhaps he suffers from low testosterone or just has a low sex drive. It's rare for young men, but possible. Does her work a physically or mentally demanding job. I speak from experience when I say that sex drive can fluctuate based on work stress. My previous job was so stressful I never initiated sex...I was too tense and worried. Now that I have my current job and been here almost 10 years...I have a very high sex drive and its getting even higher as I lose weight. IS your husband overweight? That can also be a factor. I know its hard not to take it personally, but before you do I would look into these factors. I'm sure there are other things I'm not thinking of, but hopefully some one else can chime in. Feel free to ask me any questions. I'll be glad to help out.

Glitsycat reacted to SteveFrett in Newbies: Please Read This!!!Hi & welcome to ALL the newbies on the Forum,
I have been reading and have been forwarded some of your Posts and Blogs and thought I should make a post so you can save yourself the trouble of having to post.
I can't stress to all of you the importance of sticking to your diet steps! Many of you are at different stages but all seem to be having the same problems.
For those of you whom are at Pre-Op stage. If your required to lose weight before, now is the time to start. Everyone has been asking can they have lets say their "Last meal"
the Answer is Yes, But don't make it a week long event. Pick ONE DAY/NIGHT eat whatever it is you want to devour before they put the inner fat kid in a straight Jacket. To many have been going wild. Party's over.
For those who are in the liquid Stage... People it's not Rocket Science.. it's liquids... if you can't determine what's a liquid, i seriuosly think you need to go back to elemetry school. I'm not trying to offend anyone Please don't take what I say like that. It's more a sarcastic way of saying THINK!
Now those in the first fill pending stage.. Yes you have a Band strapped around your stomach but , it has yet to have any saline injected, so Yes your going to be able to eat alot, not as much as before, OBVIOUSLY! So don't take not having a fill yet as "Free Ticket" because your going to discover the unpleastries that come with trying. If your due for a fill go! Remember one thing everyone, the only person your hurting is yourself. I knwo it's hard not to eat, your stomach is growling, and with all the day to day stresses we face it makes it that more harder to resist. But do yourself the favor, if you feel hungry inbetwen meals SIP Water , DO NOT drink with a straw it makes more gas and will be even more painful. and never chug anything!!!! I will tell you all a tip: anything cold will cause your throat to tighten up and restrict you. Anything Hot will do the opposite it wil lhelp relax your throat. so keep that tid bit in mind.
anyone else who has been filled more than once and has been banded for a year or more, and still makes foolish mistakes, i say this WHATSA MATTA U?

Glitsycat reacted to auntielle in Am I Doing Something Wrong?Did you get any instructions from your doctor? That is the place to start. Even if you can eat a lot that doesn't mean you should or that you are eating the correct amount of calories to lose weight. I log everything in my fitness pal to make sure I am getting enough calories, Protein, carbs & fat -- but not too much.
I also do not drink anything when I eat. Everyone is different but I think most people lose on 800 - 1200 per day depending on the person. I try to get 70 - 100 grams of protein a day & keep it low in fat, sugar & fairly low in carbs. Also, exercise or just moving more is important.
You may still be hungry but when you get to the right restriction you will not be able to eat too much at a time. Many doctors say eat only 3 meals -- mine did. However, I do much better eating about 6 Snacks a day instead of meals. That way I never get too hungry. And it works for me. Good luck finding the combo that works for you.
PS. I started at 258 last August, had surgery 9/7/11 & now am 163. Trying to lose 30 more+- I'm 5'5".

Glitsycat reacted to mistressofmagic in Picture :(I am having my band in 4 days time and this evening my husband showed me a movie he 'd taken on his phone of our daughter learning to ride her bike. Behind her this old woman waddling along, it was me I am gutted at how awful I look and how I have allowedyself to become that thing in the picture. I realised before now I would have turned to food to squash my shame and fury ... Right now I am awash with feelings of pure revulsion of what I am and it hurts .... I know this is first of many times I have to deal with my emotions without the support of food .... Defining moment

Mind you i havent been out on my road bike yet, ill wait for the 3 month threshold for that in case i fall off lol .. Am back for my fill on monday as i had some taken out the band for the surgery , now i need it back in as i am eating like a horse but only healthy food , so maintaining my weight but i need to lose the 9lbs of skin they took .. my legs still need doing , that wiwll be next year jury is still out on the breasts as a good bra does make them seem pretty normal, and ofc the cost is a consideration too, i want to go swimming but wont with my legs the way they are .. the rest of me i am pleased with its was never going to be a miracle lift at my age, but its a good attempt at one and am very pleased with my arms. I do not have the guts to post my before pics as they are awful and i am ashamed of them .. i might try to get the courage to do the after ones tho eventually !
Normality is only a couple of weeks away then u can start really enjoying your new image
