  1. i meant "NOT" eating whatever i feel like eating!
  2. thank you so much for your words. it helps to know that others are in the same situation, although I don't wish slow weight loss on anyone. I guess i was under the impression when i got this band that it works much better than it does, but I am not giving up. I am hoping that with this next fill it will do the trick, and I also am going to get back to drinking the protein shakes, cutting out bread and pasta, and eating whatever i feel like eating. Old habits are hard to break, you are right, and i must lose this weight before my health starts to fail as well. So it's back to drinking lots of water and trying to keep on track. i know i probably gained but I am starting over as of now. Thanks so much for your reply, you have helped me tremendously. And best of luck to you also. I will let you know how i make out after the next fill.
  3. Hi Elee. I was wondering how you are making out now. I also feel like a failure, i am back eating things i shouldn't, and getting back into bad habits. I have an appt on june 21 for my 4th fill. i just don't feel the restriction i should, and i know that is part of the problem. I am also feeling that i am a big disappointment to my doctor, although more to myself! I got my band back in December 2006. It will be exactly 6 months on the date of my fill this week, and i have only lost about 15 pounds, but i am feeling like i have gained (I threw away my scale after my big fat butt BROKE it). i try to keep a positive attitude. i know what i need to do, start drinking the Protein shakes and get back into trying to lose. i think of a thousand excuses why i am not losing (went ona cruise recently, a trip to Florida, and 3 weddings) but i have to just realize i am failing here. i need help bad. has anyone tried going to WW or another weight loss program having the band? I don't think just seeing a nutritionist at each visit is enough..... thanks.
  4. Hello everyone. Maybe i just need a little encouragement or need to be more patient? I had surgery on Dec 21, 2006. It's been almost 4 1/2 months. I originally lost 5 lbs before the surgery, but since the surgery have only lost 12 more pounds. I actually gained 3 pounds when i went for my second fill, but when i went for the third fill i had lost the 3 lbs again. So i am still at 17 lbs lost postop. I still am not feeling much restriction, but the surgeon tells me he sees that i am restricted. I am scheduled for a fourth fill on June 21. It gets a little discouraging. I am leaving on a cruise next week with my girlfriends and now I am worried about gaining weight. I have been exercising, but i still feel hungry at times - maybe not as much as i felt before surgery, but i still don't feel real full. I am also careful to not drink with a meal, and try to eat more Protein, veggies, etc. I have heard some people get 5 or 6 fills before really losing. If there is anyone out there that has been through this same ordeal, can you please respond? I think i just need to hear i am not the only one. THANKS YOU GUYS! Helene (aka Magilla) :help:
  5. I do think that is one of my problems, i don't drink enough Water. And I had in the past drank and ate at the same time, not waiting long enough after a meal. Thanks for your suggestions. I am exercising. I know the band is a tool and I really need to work at this more, but it would help if i had more restriction. I think once my swelling went down from surgery, I have not felt very restricted since that time. I am not giving up though, I want to be successful but maybe I am falling back into old habits. I think i will start drinking the Protein shakes again as they did fill me. Thanks for your response and help. Helene
  6. I was given a card to present in a restaurant, but most things on a kids menu are fried foods, grilled cheese, fries, hamburgers, chicken fingers, peanut butter and jelly, nothing we really should be eating. I agree, leftovers are great!
  7. I believe the reason is because you could have trouble coming out of your anesthesia if you smoked marijuana the morning of your surgery.
  8. Hello. I am new to this site. My name is Helene and I had my lap band surgery on Dec 21, 2006. I have not really lost very much weight yet - somewhere around 15 pounds. I got my first fill two weeks ago, and i don't think it really did anything (have not lost anymore weight). I can still eat pretty much as i did pre-surgery. I am scheduled for a second fill the end of March and i am hoping this one will do the trick. I had my surgery at Barix Clinics in Langhorne by Dr. Brader. Is this common not to lose until the band is at the right adjustment?

thanks for your words of encouargement. I do need to be patient, but it is hard. That is probably why i was not successful on other plans. It's still hard not to eat when i am at a party or an invited occasion. I am trying to exercise so i do not gain the little i lost so far. Reading what others have written is really helping. I need to take the time to go through this website. There seem to be so many nice people out there, and that really helps as well.
