  1. Just got my date!!! June 18th!!!!
  2. I am going to be one of three chaperones for a group of high school business students in San Antonio for 5 days. Plenty of walking, but also opportunities to rest when the kids are in competitive events. I figure if I'm on the liquid diet it wouldn't be too difficult - just get some cans of broth, bring protein powder & blender bottle & use a microwave. Maybe I'm being too optimistic about the recovery?
  3. I'm supposed to travel on June 28th & STILL don't have a surgery date yet. All paperwork, psych eval, nut visit, etc. is complete & all has been submitted to insurance. Hope is fading fast for a June date . . . From your experience, how early in June would I need to have the VSG to be able to travel June 28th? Or should I just forget about it & shoot for July (which kills me to think of). I am sooooooooooo ready for this surgery!! The waiting is killing me!!
  4. I'm absolutely terrified that my insurance won't approve me! I'm a 39.1 BMI with plenty of comorbidities - but I'm still scared that since I'm not above a 40 they will turn me down : ( Are there any other United Healthcare folks out there? How long did you have to wait for approval? Are they sticklers for the 40 BMI? I'm freaking out - it's been almost 2 weeks since my doctor's office submitted .... Thanks!
  5. Great things to think about - thank you all!!
  6. I'm brand new here & have no idea how to answer this question but figured I'd bump you to the top. I'd LOVE to see an answer to this!
  7. Hi! Brand new here - first post - I have 4 daughters (16,13,10 & 5). The older two are simple - I will tell them exactly what's going on & they will handle it just fine. The 5 year old will happily accept "Mommy's just not that hungry today" or "Mommy is exercising more because it's good for me", etc. It's the 10 year old I'm not sure how to explain this to her. My husband says to just tell her that I had a tummy problem in college & the doctors are going to fix it. But somehow I just don't think lying is the way to go . . . I want to tell her - but also don't want to scare the beejeesus out of her. She's very much a worry-wort - the type that can't sleep if I fall & scrape my leg. Oy!! Any suggestions are welcome - Thanks in advance!
