Hi everyone! I have been a member for a couple of months and have posted here and there, and then I realized I have never properly introduced myself! I have decided to have VSG. Since I can't afford it here, I have decided to go get sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Tijuana Mexico in December. That's when I'll have some down time in between semesters. Like many of you, I have always had problems with my weight. I have always been called "gordita" which basically means chunky for those who don't speak Spanish. I feel very fortunate to have discovered this procedure now that I'm young ( I'm 20) rather than being older, so I'll have my whole life to live happy, healthy, and hot! LOL Well anyways that's me!

Congrats on your decision! I'm not much help now, but we are on the same page because I'll be getting sleeved in December. So excited! But a really great thing about this forum is that if you have a question, chances are either someone has already asked/answered it, or if you aren't sure and ask, people are usually very quick to answer. There quite a few of "sleeve vets" here and everyone is so nice!

I was wondering if the surgery interfered with regular college life like walking back and forth to classes, carrying books, etc. I'll be getting the surgery over my winter break in December, around the 15th, and I don't go back to school until mid January so I will have around 2 solid weeks to rest. Will I be okay to go back to school?

I'm from a little town called Martinsville. I would love to be able to speak to someone close. Maybe have an exercise buddy

So my surgery is not until December but I am getting really scared. Right now I'm pretty sure I'm going alone, but the catch is I have never been outside of the country. Leaving the country isn't the scary part for me, its the flight to San Diego!!! I've never even been inside of an airport let alone a plane! Could someone with goid pointers puuh- leaseee give me some pointers/ tips for me traveling by myself? I know I could've googled this, but I trust you guys :3

Did anyone just use US dollars instead of getting pesos? A friend of mine just went to visit and said the she didn't exchange her money because a lot of places take dollars.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to relay some information I just got. Like many of the users here I am tight for money, and I am planning on getting my surgery in December of this year or January 2013. I had narrowed my choices down to Dr. Kelly and Dr. Garcia. Now I have spoken with both coordinators, Omar with Dr. Kelly and Sandy from alighterme.com and I just wanted let everybody that is planning to have surgery in the future about what I have learned. Sandy from alighterme.com told me that the price can, and probably will fluctuate with time, and the procedure is 5,000 as of now. HOWEVER, Omar told me that the price that was quoted for me, which is 5,500, will be honored, no matter when I get the surgery. This was the deciding factor for me, since I have heard so many great things about both doctors. Even though I really like Dr. Kelly's personal approach, it really did come down to the money. So for anyone considering surgery with Dr. Kelly but not sure yet, I would suggest getting a price now and just having that stability, just in case! Take care!
