  1. I'm three months out. Lost 40 lbs months before surgery, 35 right after. I stopped losing weight. Just stopped. 2 months, up and down 4 lbs over and over. I'm ALL depressed about that. I tolerate ALL foods, but don't indulge much. No dumping. My stomach holds more food than I was told it would. I can eat a cup and a half or more of food at a time. I realize this needs to stop. I get full way quicker than pre surgery, I love that. And I know when to stop so that I don't get too full. Learned that early on. But I'd be lying if I said it doesn't bother me that my tummy is large. I thought my tummy would hold MUCH less food. It's in my hands how much I put into it, but I got the surgery with the intention of having a smaller stomach, and sensitivity to various foods or ingredients. All of you can barely eat. I wanted to be one of you. I actually feel as though there was no surgery, with the exception of early fullness. I want to be like you.
  2. @sgibbs....Thank you for your positive spin, I guess you're right. Still, the scale never moves.... Do you really think a week on liquids might jumpstart things? I was wondering also.
  3. Hi. I'm 3 1/2 months out. Lost 40 lbs before surgery and 30 lbs post-op (month and a half) then absolutely nothing. I've been 305 for two months almost. It's like my scale is stuck. Probably I am. I must be honest, I don't think I'm getting enough Protein in on some days, most of the time I'm spot on. I drink like a fish. Water, diet green tea, decaf (yes, I subtract that from my daily intake), Propel, herbal tea, decaf tea. Drinking is no problem. I eat a cup, cup and a half of a protein laden meal at meals, but I do not eat my recommended Snacks all the time. t's really hard to eat. My NUT said something about Grehlin and that my appetite will return. But I'm out 3 1/2 months, when will I start losing weight! Should I go back on liquids for a week? Or fast for three days? Or what? All you guys are losing massive amounts of weight, and I am literally stuck on 305. I feel like this surgery was a flop. I feel like a failure. I lost enough weight that my Pulmonologist took me off all forms of supplemental oxygen. THATS awesome! I'm trying to walk the halls at work without my Rollator, and I'm doing better. No where near normal, but better. I walk kinda funny. My coworkers know I had the rny, and are waiting for me to lose all sorts of weight, but I'm not. I'm embarrassed and ashamed. If I were gaining, I'd have something to look at, but I'm not. I have NO food sensitivities, no dumping. However, if I eat to fast or not chew enough, I throw up the stuck food. No diarrea. No constipation. TMI here: my bowel is always a light beige, if that means anything. Doc put me on an anti-gall stone med last month. Its supposed to be for 6 months. Help? I'm stuck and severely depressed.
  4. I take so many pills it ruins the yogurt, I can't swallow right when I use yogurt. I'm weird. Now, I've been crushing them, putting them into two 1 ounce cups with Tim Hortons Hot decaf, strawberry flavored tea, stirring and swallowing. Then take some more sips of the tea. The heat in the tea seems to dissolve the pills better, no "crumbs". I just hate the crushing of all my pills, my fingers are going to get calloused by turning that darn crusher so hard. Even splitting the one pill is getting hard to do by hand. I hate the whole process.
  5. I hate to see anybody go through a stall. It's so disappointing to look down at that scale and see the same number for weeks, or notice that your pants/tops still feel the same for weeks. I don't like it because I feel like my coworkers are watching me and wondering why I'm not shrinking. I feel self concious. I drink a lot as it is, I just have to eat more to get my metabolism going. I'm eating the right foods, in the right portions but my ability to exercise is limited, but not impossible. I'm walking without my walker and oxygen a lot more! I get lots of support from my coworkers when I do that. With the stall, I'm just frustrated. I've been losing weight since months before my surgery, now nothing. I want to be mad, but I'd be mad at my self. I have to eat! I'm rooting for all of you!!! Keep on keepin on!
  6. @@India928 Thank you India, I needed to hear that. THREE months? Wow! I'd go nuts if that happened to me. So many people say they lose so much in the beginning, and I admit I'm a bit jealous because I am not. But from what you say, it gives me hope at least. Bless You...
  7. Hi, I'm almost 2 months out from revision to rny. I lost 40 pounds before surgery and 35 pounds post surgery. I have been at a stall for nearly a month and I am really getting down on myself. I get all the right Protein and liquids in, I don't cheat. One problem I do have is not eating enough. Could this be why I am not losing weight? I have mobility issues that prevent me from doing traditional exercising, but my surgeons PT gave me some exercises I can do in my chair. But I don't think they're doing anything to help. I'm extremely upset about this stall. I feel like I failed the surgery. I beat myself up every day, while trying to force myself to eat. Has this happened to anyone else??? I feel alone and would love to hear others' stories. Maybe a month stall is common? I did lose 75 pounds, but it just stopped, dead. HELP!!!
  8. And I thought I was all alone in this. Thanks for your post's .
  9. @@Inner Surfer Girl Wow. That's incredible!
  10. @@Inner Surfer Girl You lost 134 pounds in 4 months???
  11. My nut just called me back, and boy am I relieved! First of all, I'm not the freak I was feeling like. You know, hating food. I mean, who HATES food? Me I guess. She said what I was doing by not eating all day was not the best thing to do (I knew that), but that I'm doing the right thing by attempting to eat a few small bites, that it's better than nothing. She stated that when I had my bypass (I'll explain this the best I can, bare with me), something called Grhelin was bypassed. It's the "thing" that makes you feel hunger. I'm not feeling hunger because of this. My tummy's not creating the feelings that make me want to eat, or enjoy what it is that I am eating. I guess it "returns" in time. I asked if I will want food like I did before surgery, she said no, not really. THATS a relief! But the drive to eat will come back, don't know when, but she said I'll know. I'm so happy! I thought I was going to be like this for the rest of my life. She said I'll be fine. Whew! I spent 6 months redesigning my eating thoughts and patterns. I follow the South Beach Diet (required by Surgeon) and it was tough to do at first, but it came to me in time. I eat healthily to save my life. It suggests three small meals and three very small Snacks a day, with various do's and dont's shoved in. All in keeping with keeping the metabolism going. Which I wasn't doing very well post bypass. But now that I know that people, though obviously not on here, but in my surgeon's practice go through this, I feel hope. All I wanted was hope and the feeling that I wasn't alone.
  12. @@Inner Surfer Girl I'm waiting for my nutritionist to return my call today. Thanks!
  13. Thank you guys for offering advice. I knew/know that I had to eat in order to get the nutrients and to keep my metabolism going. I know that. My issue was, why do I hate food so much, or at all? I was hoping someone would catch on that and relate. I still hate food and force myself to eat, but it shouldn't be that way. "hate" is a strong reaction, I need to know someone understands. I feel all alone. I stopped throwing up. I eat a little more, and a few times a day. I was always taking my Protein shots, 84 gms a day. I drink like a fish. I'm now in "two"derland! I feel fit as a fiddle, but I still hate food, the act of eating. I've been doing my chair exercises, don't feel like it does much now but it will in time. And I'm able to walk a little more, even without the oxygen. It's fun! And mpowering.
  14. I am 6 weeks out and am having problems. I think I'm eating too fast or not chewing well enough because I can't keep my liquid or food down at dinner/night. I am fine in the daytime, of course I don't eat all day, I just drink a lot. I hate eating and can't wrap my mind around eating anything. Not because I want to lose more weight, but it just doesn't appeal to me, it's not something I want to do. I think , THINK, I eat fast because I just want to get it over with. Maybe. I don't know. It's the onlyreason I can think of as to why, after waiting a 1/2 hour after drinking to eat, I eat and I spend the rest of the night spitting liquid out of my mouth into a glass then finally giving up and going to the bathroom to throw up. I know better. What is going on! It's been happening almost every night the past week. Not every day. It's got to be me, but why am I being such an arse about food when I know better?
  15. I had the Lapband until 6 weeks ago, when I revised to RNY. So I know all about things getting stuck, sliming, throwing up... My husband bought one of the Deli rotisserie chickens when I first started solid food, and I must say that I'm excited about eating this chicken! I eat a lot of chicken breast, which can sometimes be dry, but this rotisserie chicken breast meat is actually creamy in your mouth. You barely have to chew it's so moist. I take all the white meat and hubby takes the dark. Works out perfect, even when slightly re-heated. Try it! BTW, never thought of dipping meat into hummus, what a great idea!
  16. Hey there... What do you do when you have NO desire for food? I miss at least a meal and a snack a day, I just don't think of food, I practically hate food! I'm a month out, on regular food, and I actually miss the clear liquid phase. I drink a lot. Crazy, I know! When I do eat, I eat pure Protein and almost nothing else. But if I don't eat all my meals and Snacks, I will be nutritionally deficient in so many ways and get sick. I use my protein shots (New whey Protein Shots) and I take all my supplements, but in the food department it is such an endless battle! I'm not stupid, I can force myself to eat to stay healthy, but I feel I shouldn't have to force feed. Does anyone else have this problem?
  17. Mine took four days to close up. I kept a bandage on it the whole time.
  18. I was thinking about doing the same thing. I got an ID bracelet brochure at my pharmacy, you wouldn't believe all the styles available! I cant decide which one to get.
  19. Hello. Apparently I did not go through menopause these last four years I've had without my period. It was explained to me that my obesity prevented the periods. Question: Now that I'm in for some major weight loss, will my periods begin again? OB/GYN explained it to me, but in Doc speak and, I forgot. Tell me it ain't so! (half-hearted lol)
  20. I can drink and eat, but when I drink, the liquid hurts the center of my gut when it reaches it. I am very concerned, as at almost 3 weeks out, I don't know what if any aches and pains to expect.
  21. I don't know what to think, or say. I took my generic Prilosec, and I'm totally back to normal. I've had iced Water and hot tea so far, no problems. I took my morning meds crushed again. I don't think I'll take them whole except for 2 teeny ones. Could the fact that I take 15 pills, split, at night, mean something? I took them all split with sips of water last night. That's a lot of water. But now I'm worried I have a structure. I see my surgeon Monday morning, I'll talk to him then. Unless of course, I run back into the same problem! Bless you all for shedding light on this, and caring
  22. I do have OTC Prilosec I could take. I hope this isn't serious.
  23. Hello...I'm 17 days post-op, GB. I woke up at three this morning feeling very sick. My stomach hurt, and it felt like liquid was stuck in my esophagus (I used to have GERD years ago, it was like that) so I got out of bed to sit up. Didn't work, felt that way till five, when I vomited 6 oz. of liquid into a cup. I felt better after a while. I also had two BM's in this time. It's eight now, and I took a few careful sips of Water, then fifteen minutes later, I vomited that up. I did drink a lot last night. Tried to take all my pills whole/in half, etc...not ground. So I took in a lot of liquid. Why can I not keep water down? Should I wait and try again?
  24. @@sarabeth82 All the surgeon did was tell me to take a deep breath in and a deep breath out, I had to ask if they did it yet! I felt nothing. However, since then it has been oozing clear liquid majorly. Had shirts and bedsheets wet in the morning, kind of annoying; changed gauze in AM and PM. When he takes the tube out, it leaves a hole that my surgeon said will close on it's own. And it pretty much has, no more ooze. I feel so much more human, normal almost!
