FORGET THAT DAMN SCALE!
I know exactly what you mean!! My husband moved/hid my scale, of course I found but have been freaking fixated on that damn scale too!! It is so stupid of me but I do. First thing every one asks is, "how much have you lost?" and I want an answer for them but gotta let it go. Good for you, being able to let that go!! I really wish I had been a little more of a closed book about the whole surgery thing. Told most people that I know and let me tell you, I work at a hospital, one of the freaking anesthesiologists thinks it's his place to tell my damn patients that I am on my way to skinny, explaining to them that I have had surgery and am now losing weight!! That really ticks me off!! Anyway, I am down and out today and came here for positive... Gotta get back positive! Happy weight loss!!

- Pain Meds In Pill Form - How Long After Surgery Before You Tried Taking Them?
They gave me regular pain pills in the hospital. I just have to swallow one pill at a time. No problem at all!- Had Thanksgiving Seconds....
I am terrified... I ate some thanksgiving dinner, a couple of ounces of turkey and some stewed squash but I also had a couple of tablespoons of dressing and a tiny piece of pumpkin pie, not all at once but spaced out. Then I have been having left overs yesterday and today. No pie but turkey and squash and a little bit of dressing again. Not able to have my protein shakes like I should but this evening, I had gained two pounds. Still, since I had surgery on Oct 30, I have lost 25 pounds and a total of 35 since pre-op diet. I am sick with worry. Hope eating that dressing and such did not mess me up. I actually lost that extra two pounds with a stomach virus I had just prior to Thanksgiving. I guess, I need to chill and get over it! Right??- South Carolina sleevers?
I am from Aiken, SC! Just got sleeved on Oct 30 and finally have calmed down a little over two weeks out! I was calm but I thought I needed to chew on something in the first week and wanted to so badly! Got some sugar free gum and chewed away after a day or so, I was better. Had my surgery at Lexington medical center in west Columbia, SC. Dr Marc Antonetti at riverside surgical center is my doctor. Wonderful experience there. My biggest incision is having a hard time but I'll bet that chunk of stomach they removed was big!! Lol! Worried though as my insurance company is talking about not counting this doctor as preferred provider which worries me because I have follow up visits that I need to have with him. I wish that when that happens, they would have to cover you since no other surgeon will touch it! So I can apply for an extension of service for an additional 45 days but we know that is nothing in this process.- October 17Th'ers.. Where Are Ya?
I am still on here. For one thing, have no clue how to join the Facebook link. Every time I click on the link, I am not where I am supposed to be. Anyway, I like coming here for all of the vertical sleeve talk!- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Oh ladies!! Scary but we have made a huge leap of faith!! having surgery knowing this was for a new us and I just know it will get better!! I am the worlds biggest pessimist but I just keep telling myself it will be worth it! Having said all of that I have been having a pity party all day!!- October 17Th'ers.. Where Are Ya?
I was exactly one week out on election day. I feel awful that I want to eat some of my same old crap! With my doc, of course I am still on clears until Nov 7 but I was crazy hungry one day, or so I thought, and decided to skip to the soft food stage and have a boiled egg. Huge mistake!! One tiny bite and my body rejected that!! I do not know how I kept from throwing up my shoes!! Anyway, all of that to say, this is a daily struggle for me, at least. I am seeing now that every bite has a consequence. How profound! If I'd figured that out 20 years ago, I'd never have gotten here!! Keep on keeping on and we shall be huge success stories, I can hear it now!!- October 17Th'ers.. Where Are Ya?
I have tried clicking on your link and from my cell phone, I cannot make it work but I would really love to be on the Octo sleevers Facebook page. Can you help me with this?? Thanks!!- Any One Else Eating Like Its Going Out Of Fashion ?
I will admit, I did the same thing. Happened earlier than it did with you. Thought my surgery was going to happen in August then got put off until October 30. But I would hate to think we are the only one's that has happened to. I am now almost one week post op. Was scared out of my mind yesterday because I wanted to eat everything my husband, son and grandson were eating. Trying to be stronger today!! So far so good and the day is half over!- Rating protein powders
Ok, I was just worried. I am having a tough time this week. Missing chewing way too much!!- Rating protein powders
I have been using the protein powder from walmart , i think, Pure Protein, frosty chocolate(25 grams protein) and Body Fortress, french vanilla(26 grams protein). Well, we got some premixed Atkins Advantage shakes with only 15 grams of protein. Well, I like them but I swear I have been more hungry since I tried them, only yesterday. Plus, I have to take in an extra shake to get the amt of protein. What do you all think of the Atkins Advantage shakes? Are they a big no no??- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Going insane because of the liquids?? Me too!! Driving me nuts!- Where Is Everyone From?
I am really feeling pretty good! Missing the whole chewing and eating thing today for some reason. I think I am going to be ok though. Cannot wait to get to full liquids, then soft foods.- October 17Th'ers.. Where Are Ya?
I miss the chewing of food as well. I think I did realize there were issues with food, though... We will slowly but surely overcome this though!! I know we can!!- Where Is Everyone From?
South Carolina here! Had my surgery on October 30th so I am recovering this week. Still on clears with protein shakes here and there- Before And After I Hope It Worked
What an inspiration!!! Makes me more ready than ever!- Sleeved Soon!
I will be getting my Greenfield filter Friday and my sleeve on Tuesday, October 30th!! I am so excited but also scared! Not scared of the surgery but of this life change!! I have to find a new way to fill my time, the bindging that I used when bored in the evening or any time is going to be gone forever!! Last week I felt ready, this week I feel scared!! I love food! Me being able to admit this, I hope is the beginning of the end for that! It is my drug! Saddens me that this has been my way of covering my feelings! Even as I type this, I want nothing more than to grab some BBQ meat skins! It is an illness!! I will be a recovering addict!- Xpost Long: One Year Post Op With Pictures
How awesome!! I am so encouraged by this! Seems like so many that do the sleeve are not nearly as heavy as I am and that had had me scared but I need to lose as much as you have and I have a better feeling that I can now do this!! My surgery is on Oct. 30, 2012! The day that changed my life!!- Hungry
I am scheduled for surgery on October 30 and this talk of hunger is terrifying to me. First of all I am starting out a hundred pounds mire than most people I am reading about. Now I am finding out that people are hungry! I know this procedure is only a tool that will allow me to achieve a healthy weight/lifestyle. Believe me, I do not take this lightly! I know there are people that gain their weight back but I cannot let that happen to me!! I cannot!! I am tired of caring the excess!! Good luck to those of you that have already had the surgery!! I hope it gets easier...- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Trail, just go in really hydrated, grim a nursing standpoint, well hydrated people are an easier stick!- October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
October 30 is my date!! I am very excited and nervous! 43 yo with three children and a wonderful husband! I am bigger than anyone that I have seen posting, 341 pounds! My husband and I were high school sweethearts and when we first got together I was 117 lbs so he has seen me through thick and thin... A bad automobile accidentback in 1987 immobilized me for a while then I proceeded to put on weight for years. Needless to say, I am tired of lugging this weight!! It has been weighing me down for far too long! I am inspired by those of you that have done this already. Worried that I do not see anyone a heavy as me but thankful that I am finally getting this done!- Cigna Approval Process
AliciaA, I can sympathize, I work at a hospital in which the bariatric surgeons have decided to leave our hospital so if I get approved in time, I will not have a problem. Well, except that I met with him for the first time today and he was basically saying that with my especially high bmi he would rather operate on me at the hospital that he is moving to... Really sucks!!!! Means that my insurance would not cover as much so I am going to throw a wrench in his works if I get approved in time and he does not want to do the surgery on me at my hospital, I am going to change surgeons!!! Really anxious and just ready to know already! :/- Facebokk?

Once everything is complete then you have to await the approval from the insurance company. In my case, the fate of my surgery is in someone else's hands as I have to wait for them to be present and accounted for. Is am completely done and she is claiming she does not have my psyche eval and then she realized that I have not met with my doc so she was scrambling to recover from that. Just make yourself very aware at every step along the way that all the bases are covered. Then call and stay on everyone! I am patiently awaiting approval now. Well, actually, impatiently awaiting!
