1. Hi all! I'm 24 from Tennessee. I'm single and have been for over two years. I was sleeved on August 29th 2012. I guess it is my choice to be single, I don't activly seek anyone or try dating. I was married at 17 in 2005 and my husband passed away in 2010. I think that part of me shut down. Sure I get lonely and part of me would love that comfort again but the main part of me really just accepted that it won't happen again. For one I come with "baggage" so to say and really don't feel anyone would be accepting. Two; I'm super shy and conservative lol. I've been with one guy EVER and don't plan on rushing into bed with another...and just from what I've seen in my area that's what dating is about! I dated my late husband a year before being intimate and we married just five months later. Sorry to ramble! Guess I'm in need of this single support you all talk about then I just may one day try again! Heaviest: 305
Current: 269
VSG Surgery Date: 8/29/12
2. Hey I don't normally reply I read on here daily! I want to say on the nerves though its completely normal. During my two week preop diet id think of every reason known to man why I should back out! Now I'm 24 and already was on meds for anxiety and depression so my nervousness was horrible! It got to where I couldn't sleep thinking about the ifs and buts about surgery. Now let me add. I did it...day of surgery I was a mess! But I did it... Recovery was a breeze compared to what id planned in my head. I'm four weeks post op tomorrow! And its been great. Your going to read a lot of "bad" on here. Those are the stories I focused on before. For every bad story I'm sure there are ten+ good ones! I've not dealt with any sickness or had to take any pain meds since coming home from the hospital. I want to tell you to try and stay calm but know since I was there no words can really help. If ya wanna talk or ask questions I'm always available! Its so worth it!!! Lots of good vibes sending your way! Heaviest: 305
Current: 269
VSG Surgery Date: 8/29/12
3. Would love to join in! I'm 11 days post op. Today weighed 271 my goal for January 1st is 199!! I honestly believe I can do this! Would be a wonderful birthday gift (jan 4th) Wishing everyone loads of luck and many pounds lost!
4. Okay I'm still having an issue getting in 64oz and I'm starting to freak myself out about hydration. Yesterday I had 22oz today I had 36oz. I sip sip sip no straws and feel I'm always sipping but its so hard! I feel every single tiny drink give it a minute to pass (I feel pressure) and continue sipping. Advice please fellow sleevers! should I be tripping this bad??
5. No straw and yes I've been walking since day one.
6. I was sleeved on august 29th and I've having a hard time gettin in my liquids. I only got 22oz today. My belly is growling insanly! I think I'm pregnant with triplets or something and they are fighting! Sipping feels uncomfortable everything kinda sticks in my chest for a few minutes then works down. Gas pain or air is still an issue too. I wanna burp but can't it hurts! Chest pressure sucks! Are all these common?? Should I be freaking out??
7. I was sleeved the 29th too! I'm having a rough time sipping. Was only able to get in 22oz today. Really hoping tomorrow is better. I've got major belly rumbling!
8. I'm out had my surgery yesterday and I won't sugar coat it. Its been rough! I think the worst is the gas and just feel sick! Did my swallow study this morning and almost threw up it was very very nasty! Hope its only up hill from here, really really hope

Don't get me wrong I've been excited the whole time and still am but dang these nerves! I'm just saying if I had food in my system (liquid diet past two weeks) id probably be throwing up I'm so nervous! Anyone else having surgery tomorrow??
10. Thanks everyone. It is so very hard. The only thing that's kept me going it I want this so bad! My surgery date is the 29th and I'm so ready but honestly wish I could sleep through it all. I'm still working and I have a very active job so that keeps me moving mostly. Today has been a rough one. Not so much feeling hunger (head hunger YES) but no actual hunger which is good. Just super weak and overall not feeling good. I really hope this isn't how ill feel after sugery for very long. Its emotionally draining!
11. So I heard 72hrs but its day four and I'm so tired. I have zero energy at all. Not so much hungry but I feel super weak...tired...sometimes dizzy faint feeling... I'm getting in 100g of Protein at least 64oz Water... Plus chicken broth..sf popsicle..sf Jello... That's all I'm allowed man I'm feeling rough and trying to work..its rough I can barely get outta bed!
12. I wouldn't worry about it my brother who is doing all this with me found out he has bad sleep apnea. He was put on a machine when sleeping but it didn't stop or slow down surgery. He is having surgery same day as I. Aug 29th
13. I agree! This is going to be the best journey for us all and I wish all of you the best of luck! I've been very open about my surgery with everyone and really don't care what they say. I'm an open person anyway this isn't be admitting failure it me asking for help and I've came a long way and will continue to work for where I need to be. That's my attitude about it :-) you can keep up with me via message, facebook, or even test/phone if you want to be "vsg buddies" :-) have a great day! Almost time for work here
14. You too Xena! Its a wonderful journey to be on. I understand everything you've said. It will be fantastic to be a "normal" size. Good luck to you!!
15. Alliecat we have the same surgery date! How exciting we are surgery buddies! Would love to keep in touch!
16. I'm allowed 100g of protein in the form of powder protien mixed with fat free milk or water (four or five shakes) per day and all I'm allowed besides that is clear liquid. Water..broth..crystal light..popsicles ( sugar free) and sugar free jello. I'm so scared! Lol seems like a lot of nothing for two weeks. I'm oh so ready for surgery august 29th though!!
17. Yes same surgeon. same everything lol we have done all our appointments etc same time same day!
18. Thank you it seems as if it took forever but now its here and its a wonderful feeling I hope you get yours soon!!
19. My brother an I are doing this together. We both submitted on july 19th. I called cigna everyday as did my brother to uhc. Today we both learned we were approved! Should have some dates tomorrow. We still like a pre surgical class that our hospital requires and that's it. Should have a date for late august I hope
20. I called cigna today july 30th at 3:15pm EST and was told I had been approved!! I'm so excited. I then called the surgeons office and she just got the fax. She said she would call tomorrow with some dates. Yay!
21. And of course I've been calling everyday since. Today they said ill get an answer by friday! I'm so nervous I have a bmi of 47 pcos and insulin resistant but no other health issues so I'm so scared of being denied. I do have family history of high bp..bs...cho...and heart disease. Ahh this wait seems longer and more stressful then the work up appointments! Lol
22. Thanks everyone! I'm sure its hard to really understand until you get there. I just about freaked when she told me one quater teaspoon at a time. I work in healthcare so ill be sure to "stock" up on the pill despencer cups.
23. I'm having my vsg in august and I'm trying to get ready for what to somewhat plan for. During my classes I've attended they've said we won't be able to drink more than one forth teaspoon at a time. So how will I be able to get all my fluids in?? Plus break for "eating" times. I've calculated 68oz over twelve hrs and that's 68 half teaspoons per hour. Which is more than one a minute. I'm so confused how how the fluid is portioned out. I don't see this possible unless I can have more than half a teaspoon at a time. Also. The liquid vitamin and calcium I have are one ounce servings. Can I take that all at once? Or need to break up even that ounce? Ahhh
24. Yay! Its going to be a good august. Not only that but hopefully no holiday weight gain. I'm super excited to get this done before the holidays. I don't want them centered around food anymore! Good look to both of you too!
25. My insurance is cigna as well. I should be submitting july 11th. That's my last appointment and insurance lady at the office I see said she would have everything ready to submit by the time I let the office. I'm super excited but so nervous! I've been working towards this since feb. Only been going to the surgeons office since april 4th though. I'm ready to be on the other side!
