    Time Off Work

I was out of work one week and went back to work from home for a week, and then went back to the office. I have a desk job by the way. It really wasn't bad, but I made sure I walked a lot after surgery. I walked laps inside my house every day. I was able to run errands a week after surgery but was still tired. Nervous

I had the lapband surgery in 2007 and maintained an 80 pound loss until the band slipped in 2015. I had it removed and converted to RNY on 10/29/15 and it's been amazing. I am 12 pounds away from a normal BMI. I have lost 108 pounds since surgery and am still losing a little more. I can t even imagine hitting normal weight, but it may no It's happen! Good luck to you. Marchies:The Month Of The Turkey

Hi All, I'm in for 10 pounds by the end of the year. It's been a long time since the scale has moved down. Maybe a little team-work motivation is what I need. I'm 15 pounds away from losing a full 100 pounds and I just can't seem to get there. I agree with whta someone had said - if only the band would stop us from making bad food choices . . . Good luck all. Hilari

    Marchies Bandiversary Month

Hi All, I too can't believe it's been a year aleady! It's been a great ride but the last few months have been rough. I have been going up and down the same 4-5 pounds for four months now and it's just so frustrating. I started out at 338 and am now at 261 - a total of 77 pounds lost since surgery on March 6th 2007. I'm really thrilled with this loss, but I've only lost 3-5 pounds since November. I guess my frustration comes from the fact that I'm so far from my goal weight (150-180) and am losing faith that I can really get there. I'm glad I came back to follow-up on all of your progress - it's been awhile since I've been to the site and you're all doing great. I'm inspired by your progress and need to get my weight loss moving again. Just sitting here reading your posts has made me choose a bottle of Water right now instead of my usual night-time snack of low cal/sugar ice cream. Thanks to all for your inspiration! When to Start Jogging

Hi All, I'm very interested in jogging. I've tried a little bit here and there and don't get too far. I'm wondering if there is a weight where it's just unhealthy to jog. I'm 5'4" and weight 290. Am I just too heavy right now to jog? I'm fortunate enough to have healthy joints and would like to keep them that way. I currently walk 2-3 miles every day without any problems. I would appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Hilari

4CC Band and average first fill

I was given 1.5 cc on my first fill. I thought that seemed like a lot but my doctor said that's what he gives everyone on their first fill. He said the next ones are much smaller.
  8. Hi, I had my first fill on April 30th. My surgeon knew right where my port was and found it on his first try. He gave me one shot to numb the area (I didn't feel it at all) and then he did the fill with a second shot. Happily, I had no pain whatsoever. I will tell you that I did get a bruise in the area where I got the shots that lasted an entire week and was sore like a bruise is. As far as eating, I was told to go on a liquid diet for 24 hours and then mushy food for another 48 hours. I was very hungry the next day and wound up eating soft food which I was able to tolerate with no problems. Two days after the fill I was eating solid foods with no problems as well. Good luck to you on your first fill - I hope yours goes as smoothly as mine went! Hilari

I was advised that my bites should be no larger than the size of a dime.

    Best Thing I ever did

I couldn't agree with you any more. I was banded March 6th and I'm so happy with the results so far. I still can't get over the fact that I'm truly full after eating such small amounts of food. I can't wait for the rest of my new life with my band.
  12. Hang in there! Are you on the "mushy" or soft food phase yet? I was banded on 3/6 and wasn't supposed to start the soft food phase until last Friday (3/23) but my body was hungry and said it was ready. I started the soft food phase on 3/18 and am feeling much better. Six small meals a day spaced every 2-3 hours seems to keep the hunger at bay. Good luck - it will get better.
  13. I was banded on 3/6/07 and yesterday I finally felt better than I had since surgery. I was even able to sleep on my favorite side for a little while without a ton of pain. Kudos for you for going back to work so quickly. I took off a full five days (I have a desk job) and the first day was rough but now at day three I feel "normal". Good luck to you!

    Advantages of bypass

I've spent a lot of time on www.obesityhelp.com. That site is VERY pro-bypass and you'll be able to find all the information you're looking for there. I've found that most people on that site call the bypass surgery RNY.

    Pre op diet question

Hi Robin, I was required to be on a full liquid diet for one week prior to surgery. That consisted of yogurt, Protein shakes, pudding, Carnation instant Breakfast with skim milk, and low-fat Soup. Because it was pre-op, the soups could be chunky. I just had my surgery last week and am now on a two-week full liquid post-op diet. The differences between the pre and post op diets is now post-op, soup must be pureed and the quantity of food is much less. You are right about the full and clear liquid diet differences. I did have to be on a clear liquid diet the day before and two days after surgery. That consisted of broth, ices, Jello, and apple or white grape juice. Good luck with everything! So far one week out I'm very happy with my decision.

    Having Surgery on 3/5/07

I'm right there with you - my surgery is March 6th. Right now I'm just focusing on getting through the liquid diet pre-surgery. I think I'm really going to freak out the day before, your surgery day! Best of luck to you!!!
