I am so HAPPY, I was really starting to doubt whether the band was going to be a useful tool, for me personally. FINALLY, after reading about a lot of my fellow bandsters eating smaller portions and having lost weight, I can say I am there too. What a great feeling to have restriction. I have been at the 20lb mark basically since 1 week post-op, (first week of June) but since last Tuesday when I got my 2nd fill, I have lost 3 lbs. Woo Hoo. Just posting this to give everyone that has been banded but haven't reached restriction yet, HOPE that the time WILL COME and it makes it all worth it. I put on a pair of shorts yesterday that I faithfully wore everywhere for the past year and 1/2 because they were the only ones that fit. Size 18, they fell off of me. So the scale says I've lost between 23-24 lbs, but my body has lost inches!!! My husband couldnt believe his eyes. I was jumping up and down with joy. Not because I've lost weight as much as it is about that now I know this CAN and WILL help me to reach my goals!!!

K6TYX I am in the same boat as you. MFP has me on 1200 cal a day and I am loosing very slow. I am going for my 2nd fill on August 9 so I am going to check with the doc to see if I should lower my daily calories. I had my surgery on June 1 an am down 26 lbs, 12 of that was from my pre op diet. I am going to drop to 1000 till I see him on the 9 th to see if it helps. I will let you know how it works for me. Feel free to add me on MFP eahalstead

Hang in there girls! You are in the "Fill" stage where you are past the operation loss and now waiting for enough fills to get your band to the Sweet Spot. It took me a long time and I was super frustrated as well. I don't know why the surgeons don't prepare us for this stage better. Some people call it Bandster Hell. I just call it Diet 101...... keep yourself in the diet mentality, eat more Protein, a lot less carbs and exercise. Each fill will make a small difference in your hunger and eventually you are there!
Remember my Mantra .... this is not a Race..... it's LIFE!

Thank you everyone for the tips and advice. X
I will try lowering my cals and carbs... I think you may have hit the nail on the head with that one, looking back at mfp I am eating lots of carbs.
I think the advice I have been given from my dietician is sketchy, no calorie goal was given just stay off certain foods altogether and eat from a side plate instead of a dinner plate...

Hi, i'm now 6 days post-op and feeling great but... over the last couple of days I have started getting pins and needles in my left thigh. I can be sat, laid on my back or front and my leg goes numb.
Is anyone else suffering with this or know what it could be?
Also my port wound is still bleeding very so slightly 6 days on, I spoke to the nurse 4 days PO and she said that it was pretty common (I was glued) but I thought it would have stopped by now. ( I am planning on ringing the nurse again but thought i'd ask on here first).

Hi i was banded on Sunday and know exactly what you mean. I had like a pulling sensation every time i stood up. On Tuesday i was so worried i wouldn't be ready to go back to work Monday but by yesterday (Thursday) i feel completely different.
Just think every day you will feel better than the day before!
    Good luck on your journey!

I was banded on May 29th (Tuesday)...and was able to work 6 hours by Friday and went to my nieces birthday party Saturday. I spent most of they time sitting and took a pillow with me...but was pretty good. I did have to take my pain meds so something to think about as far as driving.
However, today is the first day I am really feeling like myself (7 days post-op)...so bottom line follow your body and compare it to your work requirements.
Glad to connect with newbies like myself and with those that have already been through it.
