  1. I agree with all of the above comments.... I researched the lap-band about 6 years ago and I even consulted with my insurance.. however, I learned that they would not cover any of the surgery... After that, I became very discouraged. I started taking diet pills and trying other diet methods. All with some success, but I usually gained all of the weight back plus some... Last year, my doctor advised me that my weight was contributing to most my illnesses (back and knee pain, high blood pressure, high colesterol) just to name a few... so needless to say, I returned to the yo-yo dieting and I lost some but not enough.. i was just about to start another starvation diet when my assistant mention the lap band... we discussed the insurance process and she informed me that my new insurance would cover most of the surgery cost... i called and varified this...low and behold..it was true... I prayed to God for direction... one week after my consultation... I received an approval letter from Tri-care... Thanking and Trusting God... I know that He wants the best for me...
  2. I can truly relate... i had one shrimp scampi on Mothers day and I felt terrible about it... but not going to let it keep me from reaching my goal... remember we are not perfect...stay strong
  3. I understand exactly how you feel. The thought of surgery often frightens everyone, but just remember the outcome. My mother and father both died in their early 60's. They both had numerous health issues, including high blood, diabetes and heart disease. Neither one of them smoked or drank alcohol, but they were over weight. My life-long goal is to become healthy and live to enjoy the "Best" of my life... I have surgery on May 25th... not too scared at this point... trusting that God will see me through this time... Hang in there...
  4. Ok... day 5 of my pre-op diet... added salads yesterday... and I cheated on Mothers Day.. I had one shrimp.. my stomach is killing me... been taking lataid... not as hungry as last week but still a struggle... Down 7 lbs already... yippie...
  5. This is my second day of liquids only... the protein shake with skim milk helped me get through the mornings... sugar free popsickles helps in the afternoons.... this slim fast doesn't really fill me at all but I'm hanging in there...1 more day and salad bar... here I come...
  6. I know how you feel... I actually had a young teacher ... size 5 to tell me that all I needed to do was to come out jogging with her... That may work for some, but I need more. Since then, I have decided to let only a select number of people in on my plan for weight loss... There is no 1 size fits all diet... You have to do what's best for you... Hang in there!!!
  7. This has been a very trying week for me.... I never really realized the depth of my addiction to food... The PTA has been celebrating Teacher Appriciation all week long... so there have been snacks in my box everyday this week and they have provided us with lunch including desserts.... today when I entered the lounge... there was a large spread of pastas and pies.... I was soo tempted to just take a small sample of all of the goods... but instead, I decided to come back to my class and Blog... while drinking my protein shake... all is good though... I am feeling stronger already.. Thanking God for Blessing me with the strength resist temptation....

  12. Praying that all goes well with your surgery....
  13. So not looking forward to starting this liquid only diet. I was advised to drink one protein shake and three slim fast shakes for the first three days. After three days, I can trade one of the shakes for a small garden salad...... no small meals at all.....Surgery is set for the 25th..
