  1. Don't think about what you are Losing... Focus on what you are going to be gaining. Better health, more energy, the ability to eat less and lose weight, the list goes on and on. Congrats on the surgery in just under 2 hours. Good Luck!!!!
  2. Good luck to you both. Keep yourselves busy today and try not to think about tomorrow. Before you know it you will be out of surgery and recovering.
  3. I have loved reading everyone's responses. I have still not decided exactly who I will tell and who I will not, but some of the comments that I have read will certainly help me in my decision. I have a feeling that I will end up telling a lot more people than I had previously thought.
  4. Congratulations!!!! Think of it as a blessing, you will be so busy this week getting things done prior to surgery that you won't have enough time to sit and worry about the surgery or be nervous. Before you know it the surgery will be over!!!
  5. Very exciting!!! don't be nervous, I'm sure everything will go great and In just a couple hours you will be on your way to a wonderful new you!!!! Keep us posted on how you feel after surgery. All the best!!!
  6. One thing to always keep in mind is that prior to having the sleeve (which I don't have yet) if you wanted to cheat on a diet... well you just cheated and there were no consequences. This is different and you need to constantly remind yourself of that. You could do some serious damage if you try to eat the wrong things too early. The risk of damaging your sleeve by trying too much too early is not worth it. 6 weeks now... a lifetime of happiness!!! You can do it!!!!
  7. BKMama. I can totally relate to what you were saying about people giving you grief for turning down food. It's so frustrating sometimes because we live in a world where we are surrounded by food and some people push it on us, yet those same people that offer us the cupcakes and junk can't understand why we struggle to lose weight.
  8. Sounds like you are progressing very well and the pain you are feeling is nothing more than what you would feel with any other abdominal surgery... so that's great. Sounds like you are well on the road to recovery!!! Congrats again!!!! Now the fun part begins.
  9. good point swimmer. Sometimes the pressure from others can weigh you down.
  10. How are you feeling today?
  11. Keep focused on th wonderful changes that you have ahead. Know that any pain that you experience will be temporary. Most of all, find something to do today to occupy your mind, stay busy and you will be out of surgery before you know it and on your way to a healthy new life. Good luck tomorrow!!!!!!
  12. Totally agree with you... I would rather take my chances with surgery than die younger than I need to because I'm overweight.
  13. I was happily supprised with how supportive my family has been. Of course the question came up if I had tried to lose weight othe ways and after I told them I had they were good with it. They were always worried about my weight/health and are very happy to know that I'm taking control of it.
  14. I agree... people do judge and I don't really want to be judged or talked about behind my back. Even though we know that surgery is not the easy way out I don't think people that have never been overweight fully get the struggle that those that are face daily.
  15. Did you tell them Pre-Surgery or Post Surgery? I have this fear of telling people because in the past when I have tried to diet and told people I always failed. I know that shouldn't happen with this but still the fear is there.
  16. So my first appointment with the Dr. is in only 1 week now. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. So far the only people I have told that I will be having surgery are my parents, my in-laws and one person that I work with. How soon did everyone start telling people? and what group did you limit it to?
  17. Great news!!! Are you on pain meds? I'm sure it was nice to get the tray of clears.
  18. How are you feeling this morning? As good as you were last night? Good luck with the test this morning.
  19. good luck to both of you... VERY exciting that today is the day!!! It's a whole new life from here.
  20. Good Luck!!!! Can't wait to hear updates.
  21. Good luck on your surgery today!!!
  22. Sounds like going into the office may be the way to go. It's easy to put you off when you are on the phone but you you are in person they may feel compelled to do more for you.
  23. Thanks, that is encouraging. Even the Dr's wont' say it, I do believe mine is the fatty liver as well. I've had a full CT scan of that area and nothing else was fouond. So glad that it went away for you and never came back. My pain sounds like the same, a dull to strong ache.
  24. Good morning Kathy!!! Happy Friday!!! Katie, Don't forget that they will factor in co-morbidities, so even if your BMI goes down, those other risks (if you have any) will not immediatly, so I can't imagine it would impact your approval... I'm sure the Dr's office will give you good guidence.
