  1. Yes, just got home from Kroger for a few items and yes they had my all time fav, carmel iced yellow cake, OMG, I used to could eat the entire thing. Yes I was tempted so I could have a bite but I passed it up. What a good feeling! I overcame the urge and the temptation!
  2. you can buy it directly thru Jean and its cheaper, yes its very expensive thru amazon. Here is her email addy jmcmillan159@gmail.com <jmcmillan159@gmail.com> so you can email her about ordering it from her.
  3. Bandwagon! Hands down! Loved it and got a lot of knowledge from it.
  4. Oh my goodness, you guys are so awesome! I'm overwhelmed with suggestions. Yes I had a bowl of pinto beans at Cracker Barrel this afternoon and brought half home, woohoo. I added onion and relish to it and boy was it yummy. Headed back there for a family reunion this coming Saturday and was wondering what I could eat so now I know, another bowl of beans...ha! Great protein and fiber. I do love beans of any kind. I do have to admit, I think I will try a small Wendy's chili soon, I know I have sworn off hamburger but it is in tiny pieces in the chili there and not much chewing other than the beans so maybe it won't gross me out too much and I always have loved their chili. I may have to eat it with a fork if it's too soupy as I want the nutritional factor of protein and not the liquid. We'll see. The part of hamburger meat I am grossed out about is chewing to oblivion and running into something hard, ew, it just turns my stomach, even the lean Laura's meat at the grocery and Taco Bell burrito with beans. Thanks again to all of you.
  5. what's in your 3 bean salad and what dressing? I think I would like that??? thx
  6. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. My problem with ground hamburger meat/turkey is it gags me to eat it now since we have to chew chew chew, I just can't do it. I do and have tolerated dark meat chicken and like it. I just don't want my hair to start falling out, eek! Scary thought. Today my mom and I are going to the Cracker Barrel and I am ordering a bowl of Beans to eat. I love beans too. I can't thank you all enough for all your suggestions. Donna
  7. Okay, here's my delima: I cannot stand hamburger meat since surgery, chicken gets stuck unless it's canned and I make chicken salad, I eat a lot of fish (and I'm getting tired of it), shaved turkey or ham, cheese (low fat), cottage cheese, I may eat a half of an 8" Quesadilla with low fat cheese in it. I'm getting burned out on my meals as I eat these things every day. I was wondering how you guys get your Protein in in other ways besides meat? I went to the dr last week and had .25cc's removed, he thought I was too tight, I'm 3 months post op by the way and before he came in his nurse blessed me out over drinking Protein shakes. I only drink them occassionally like before church when I'm in a hurry and it's simple and quick but she said that the only time I should be drinking them was pre op and post op. I felt like a scolded child, guess I should have said something to the dr but didn't. He such a sweetie and great bedside manner. Anyway, off the subject, back at hand, I haven't tackled pork chops or steak, scared to as if chicken gets stuck so will that. Open for suggestions. thx Donna
  8. I can so relate to your video and comments people have made to me, negative thoughts and comments about loose skin etc. Good luck on your journey. I'm 3 months post op so I'm fairly new. Still learning. We can do this!!!
  9. I was eating things like cottage cheese, oatmeal, cream of wheat, slider foods like that but not losing like I did the previous month like my 12 lbs and I understand I may have slow times at losing but everything I ate that was solid was getting stuck and I would throw it up so that is why my dr took some out, so far so good since Thurs. Hope urs gets better...keep me posted.
  10. had .25cc's removed from my band Thurs. as my surgeon thought I might be too tight. I kept getting things stuck, I was throwing up some and was only able to eat soft foods and had only lost 2 lbs in 3 half weeks whereas last month I had lost 12 lbs in a month. He said hopefully this will get me back on track to eating the things I needed to eat and losing again and maybe being in the green zone. I go back in 3 wks.
  11. I was allowed 3 Protein shakes a day, it was so hard when you are used to eating like I was, probably 3000 cals a day. I was so dizzy, weak and head hunger, oh now that was bad!!! But I looked at the big picture, at the end result. I did however have to call my surgeon on day 4 because I was so weak and he allowed me a hard boiled egg and then told me to retreat to a Protein Bar but not to make it a habit so that is what I did. Not to tell you to cheat but that is how I survived. I'm 3 months post op and doing great, some ups/downs, still learning how to eat (small bites) a few stuck episodes but I'm down 35 lbs and its all worth it. You can do this, I know you can. We are all here for you. I found Protein Shakes at GNC, their brand called Lean Shakes in Swiss choc., they will let you even sample them there, they are wonderful. Good luck and remember, it will all be over before you know it!!! Donna
  12. thank you for the post! I have absolutely no idea if I'm in the green zone, duh! I do know that I get hungry, I mean hunger pains about every 4 to 5 hrs and have to eat. I stay up late so around 10 or 11:00 at night I'm hungry so last night instead of shooting for Protein, I decided to eat leftover broccoli from Red Lobster and of course there was one of their biscuits in there too and I ate one pinch of that so I'm not sure if it was that or the broccoli but the broccoli kept coming up in clumps when I would throw up. I was like gosh I didn't eat that much! lol.but it kept coming up. I have eaten soft foods today. It is a learning curve for me still as I'm only 3 months post so I'm still learning what I can eat and still remembering to chew chew chew. I will say I would do it all over again! Donna
  13. thanks all! I'm so sleepy today as I didn't get to sleep till after 3 am this morning so naturally all I wanna do is crawl back in bed but can't. I'm sore and yes all liquids today and mushies or soft foods. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. This site is wonderful.
  14. I had a fill 3 wks ago and I'm up to 5cc's so far and I'm still learning my band, I'm only 3 months post op. I still feel like there is food at the bottom of my throat trying to come out, ew!
  15. OMG I had the worst stuck episode tonight and is still going strong after 4 hrs. Broccoli of all things. Never had a problem with it before but tonight I was hungry around 10:00 so I microwaved a few bites of broccoli and let me tell you never again will I eat it. It has been most painful, I have thrown it up 4 times now, I have dry heaved, I fear of band slippage but can't keep a nausea pill down but keep throwing up. I am so sore. I tried hot tea, it came back up. Here it is almost 2:00 a.m. and I still feel sick. Don't know what to do.
  16. oh I feel for you, yes it's gas. Gas X and heating pad and much walking and moving around to work out that air they pump you full of during surgery. Make sure you are drinking plenty and stay hydrated. The pain meds ended up making me severely constipated to where I was nauseated and couldn't drink and was taking nausea meds so had to resort to taking Magnesium Citrate to move me, just a thought. Hope you feel relief soon.
  17. Oh my, I think I've forgotten how to ride a bike, lol, but would love to try. Maybe in my near future.
  18. Big step for me, joined a gym today and started exercising today. Boy I'm worn out!!! lol. After all the years of being overweight it has taken it's toll on my knee and I've had 2 knee surgeries so my knee is bothering me now since I've gotten home but I'm not going to let it stop me. I will be almost 3 months post op this week and down 34 lbs. Best decision I've ever made, only regret, wish I had done it sooner or yrs ago. This is my time, time to get my life back, my health back. Go me!
  19. 10 wks post op yesterday and tonight of all times if the first time I've experienced any kind of heartburn or sour stomach. I've taken a Zofran and a Dramamine for nausea and 2 Omeprazole's today and still have it. My meals today were as follows: egg for breakfast, small cheese quesadilla for lunch and since I wasn't feeling well for dinner I ended up eating cottage cheese and a few crackers. I take an Omeprazole every morning but this is the first time I've experienced this. Is this normal?
  20. Up until last week when I got .5cc in my band which makes me having 5cc's I was able to eat about 2 1/2" of a Subway turkey sub until day before yesterday when I got stuck, OMG, horrible! Guess bread is out for me from now on. I put the rest of the sub in the frige and later at the meat and veggies off of it, 10 hrs later. Donuts, haven't tried and don't want to as I do not want to fall back into old eating habits so I'd rather not know if I can get them down or not...lol Just another day in banded life and its GOOD!
  21. thanks everyone for the info, I'm still leaning! I just got .5cc in my band last week making me have 5cc's in it. I do catch myself chewing really well because I do not want to get stuck again as in the past. Guess I will be more vigilant on chewing if things are trying to pass thru and making noises. Thanks again.
  22. good luck! Life is good 10 wks out!!! congrats on the pre op diet and weight loss.
  23. ok, so I'm still learning my band, will be 10 wks post op this Wed., have you ever experienced a bubbling or gurgling sound in your throat after eating or while eating? It's almost like a burping sensation but I can't burp and it makes a noise. Anyone?
  24. Well, I'm no expert but the way I've been explained to is after you get fills your stoma opening is only so big or shall I say small and therefore that piece of scrambled egg just can't get chewed very well and gets stuck over the opening, it lays just right over the opening, does this make sense? For me at least this happens no matter how well I chew a scrambled egg, now cooked over easy, it goes down ok. However, with that said, I just had .5cc put in Thurs. and have not had an egg since last Tues so we'll see. Hope this helps.
  25. are you looking on Pinterest? I am not a member of that site and would love a recipe for a delish quiche, crustless or not as I would like to make one for breakfast for myself and then I can warm it up with the left overs. Post a recipe please...thx Donna
