  1. I weigh 270 right now. BMI 44. My physician is supposed to have done the referral. So we shall see how long it takes. My only comorbidities are GERD and arthritis in my R knee. Hopefully I'm a candidate.
  2. I would recommend the book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. I found it incredibly helpful. I stopped taking Champix cause I felt that confident and this September will be two years. It changes your thinking completely.
  3. Thanks to you as well. I will try to find that one too.
  4. Thanks for the suggestion. I seem to have a bit of a habit forming personality. I was able to quite smoking using The Easy Way to Stop Smoking book by Allen Carr. This book could be exactly what I need to kick some other bad habits and form some new good ones.
  5. I went to the Getting Started weight wise class yesterday. It was a lot of information that I already knew. I guess the wait time for surgery has significantly decreased as you mentioned Rhonda. I'm going to start journaling and recording steps/activity but I wonder what all the other requirements will be. I would hate to plan for WW to get the surgery done and then be disappointed if I'm not approved for some reason. I mentioned the research and possible plan to go out of country for the VSG and the RN was quite clear that they don't recommend "medical tourism". Rhonda, is there anything you can think of that would prevent me from getting the surgery through WW?
  6. The company I'm looking at going through for my sleeve recommends Bariatric Fusion vitamins and supplements. I have never tried them but in case anyone wants an alternative. http://www.bariatricfusion.com/
  7. I could be mistaken, but I thought celery was a no-no because it's very difficult to digest.
  8. Thanks for your advise Rhonda! I booked four appointments over the next couple months to get me started. May I ask what made you quit the first time?
  9. I have a friend who has lost 50+ lbs on her own with diet and exercise. I told her I was contemplating surgery and she made comments about how she did it on her own. Made me feel as though considering surgery was a stupid decision. That I should be able to work my ass off to lose the weight myself. I guess there is a part of me that thinks that as well. I guess what Ive realized is that the rude comments can be in our own heads as well.
  10. I'm in Edmonton and debating having the procedure done in Mexico as well. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow to get started in the WW program so at least Im heading in the right direction if I can't afford to self pay for my procedure.
