  1. My pre op diet and post op instructions are completely opposite than anything I've read on here. My pre-op diet is to stop all carbonated drinks and up all Protein a week to 10 days before surgery. This decreases the liver size so he his firm with this instruction. My post op instructions was to start small amounts of Water immediately on the first day and blended food 3 times a day. My surgeon says that people do not live on shakes so all changes in life style starts an hour after the surgery is complete and not living on Protein Shakes. He also performs the surgery with a voice activated robot and he does not agree with more than a couple of hours of down time. So I guess you could say he is aggressive but firm to his ways. I was also told to stay off these forums... Hehe;) but he doesn't have to know everything...
  2. I'm on the exact schedule you are!!!
  3. Well hello my band buddies! I'm Mendy, a 38 years old, mother of a 17 month old! Yes I said 17 month old. Most of my friends kids are graduating and mine is in a highchair;) My life is changing on May10th. This has been one of the biggest decision I've made in my life and to be honest I'm nervous, scared, excited and can not wait to walk up stairs and not be out of breath. Thank you for allowing me into your group and I'm sure I'll be asking questions...
  4. Jerseygirl82! I hope I can have one now!
  5. How do I add you as my buddies! As time gets closer I need a buddy! I'm starting to get nervous and I think my husband is tired of hearing the questions and concerns. He is a marine so his view on life is things will happen and fall into place. This is one of those times I really don't want this advice. I want to talk...
  6. This might be a strange question but I need to ask. I'm going for my pre-op on Friday and was wondering once you have the surgery are you in a post op binder?. I work in the operating room and today we started talking about postoperative garments. Since no one knows I'm having this procedure I did not say anything. But the surgeon was talking about how he thought it was best for compression and swelling. Does this rule apply for lap band patients also or just stomach procedures such as tummy tucks and panniculectomy. Just wondering
  7. We should be lap band buddies!!!!! I'm all for it... I go to my pre/op April 28th. That is 2 weeks before. But I've been on a management program already that insurance required;) When is yours??
  8. Just got my date! Woohoo
  9. Thank you everyone! I'm taking your advice and taking a full week. Even though I do not have a demanding job it will atleast give me time to adjust to my new lifestyle.
  10. Thank you everyone! I know everyone is different but there has been so many conflicting postop stories I was confused. Maybe I need to stop reading so much and just sit back and enjoy;)
  11. I was approved yesterday and today I have a thousand questions.... The one big question for everyone is how long did most of you take off work? I'm a part time teacher at a local college and really unsure what to tell them. Im not really broadcasting this surgery so Im really unsure what I should say or shouldn't say... I also have a 18 month old child who likes to play! My mother is flying into town and I'm unsure how long I will need help. I've read that most people are up and moving the day of or day after the procedure. I already know my insurance and surgeon requires a 23 hour stay in the hospital but as for going home what is your opinion on assistance?
  12. Sorry ... If you do not see anything than the approval is not there. But the physicians office has there own contact number and will get more information faster than you can! Good luck and thank you everyone
