  1. Has anyone had any issues with getting health insurance after being sleeved? My time for "open enrollment" is coming up and I just called BCBS. They automatically deny anyone with a sleeve or RNY. I didn't know that! Hope I can find a provider for a reasonable rate........ (my health options through my company are lacking)
  2. Good luck to you Jani on your surgery! Be positive and know my prayers for an easy surgery and recovery are with you!
  3. Ok whomever is sick of me for saying it, my apologies, but I can't stomach the Isopure - I tried the purple, which is supposed to be wonderful. It just wasn't my cup o' tea, so's to speak. I DID find Cytomax Pure Protein/Performance drinks at Vitamin Shoppe (3.79 a piece) and I love them. Tropical flavor (it's green - tastes like pineapple and coconut a bit) and then Tangerine (it's orange). They are made up of whey Protein isolate and have 40 g of protein in 20 oz. I highly recommend them as they were and are the only things that so far do not make me wretch for protein intake. Before my leak, I loved Premier Protein Drinks. Since I think that was what was mostly in my abscess, so far I'm having a hard time sipping them. I tried the strawberry ones I ordered yesterday and they are super sweet grrr .... I don't really do chocolate but vanilla I love, so they will be what I try for lunch today. I'm gonna hafta try those Lean shakes vsg30815! Ty for the tip!
  4. I'm struggling with this as well; however I'm still sticking to my Cytomax Pure Protein/Performance drinks. 20 oz drinks with 40 g of whey isolate protein in them. If you incorp two in your day that's an easy 80g and it counts as 40 oz of your water. Now it's just getting that much into me in the course of a day.....sigh.....
  5. Best of luck to you! Be positive, God is with you....
  6. I've only tried the Isopure purple and didn't like it, but I hear many people do so thank you mamacorney! Hope y'alls week is wonderful!
  7. TY so much beautifulnewme.... I wish you the best of luck in your WLS journey too btw!
  8. One of my staples ... for lack of a better term, "slipped" as my skin necroted (if I spelled that right) away from the suture line. My dr just moved me up to full liquids yesterday late afternoon and I had the final drain removed! I haven't been "wire free" since IDK when so I'm happy, it's GREAT taking a shower and to be "free" of everything. I AM struggling with moving to another phase of food though (my tummy's acting weird... it feels like it 'contracts' whenever I've eaten soup or cream of wheat). Thanks for asking (Artsy specifically! smile). It's a pleasure to meet you all.... How are you guys doing? I hope wonderful!
  9. I am in Carrollton and am a "newbie". Original sleeve date 3/5, revised 3/20 due to leak/abscess.
  10. Hey guys, I need input please. I JUST got off of Clear liquids (yeah) and now am "officially" on full liquids (yes, it's been about 6 weeks I guess but that's with an abscess)..... does your tummy 'contract' whenever you eat something that is 'full liquid' whenever you initially start trying to progress? Or is that the carb content possibly? Sorry I didn't have the benefit of seeing a nutritionist in my sleeve journey and I have many questions. So far I have eaten cream of shrimp Soup (by campbell's) with a can of added ff milk in it and this morning I tried fiber/protein cream of wheat. The carb content in the cream of wheat is A LOT and I realized that after heating it up and trying it. I think the same was true of the shrimp soup. I've read not to have over 15 g of carbs in anything at a time - is that right? I'm sorry, I have so many questions and sometimes I just feel lost so I'm "putting it all out there" and asking for your inputs pls. Thanks to those that respond!
  11. Julie I got you beat on this year with hospitalizations and insurance just be glad that you can be taken care of ....Seriously.... good luck too!
  12. You guys are welcomed to ask me anything anytime... I was originally sleeved 3/5 and then d/c'd 3/7. 3/9-3/14 I went back in the hospital with pneumonia, then 3/19-3/29 I was in the hospital for a leak and abscess. I had a revision to my sleeve 3/20 as the staple slipped. My tummy necroted away from the staple and caused a leak. It happens to 1% of the population so no worries, I am the one for the year people. I just got off of a clear liquid diet (yes since essentially 3/5) and I've lost about 51 lbs. in that time. My tummy is now acting 'weird' whenever I try full liquids... so if you have input on that, hit me up please!
  13. Congrats hon on getting this posted and done! I think it was very well done, nerves or not. I bet you will love going back to look at this journey later on in your WLS journey! (and finally I got to see your face! he he) Hope that you are doing marvelously and thank you for sharing this with us!
  14. I'm sorry I dunno what to suggest, but my heart goes out to you because I know how frustrating this can be. Are you getting your water in? And for constipation, my dr's suggested Myrolax. I haven't done that yet (thankfully), but imagine it's coming. Are you tracking what you are putting in your mouth now? If not, do so!
  15. I say find another carrier... that's such b.s. grrrrrr (sorry tho)
  16. I am truly LOVING them! Hope you guys will too!
  17. My husband just went to get a few more of these (I'm on conf calls right now) and said they appear to have other flavors as well but that I don't know yet.... I hope you guys enjoy them! And for the price, they are 3.79 for a 20 oz bottle.
  18. OMG what is three years out like? I've been on a freak'n clear liquid diet since essentially 3/5 due to a leak and abscess. How in hades do I advance my diet is all I keep thinking? (after the fear of another leak, I am scared y'all.... honestly scared). I cannot fathom what 'normal' is like - going to dinner with my family and what? Just eating less?
  19. How odd of a thing to try to understand. Before I had issues feeling like I was always hungry or never full.... now this! It's very different.
  20. I've been on a clear liquid diet longer than most due to a leak and abscess. This site, some wonderful peops suggested to me Isopure protein ready to drink (RTD) bottles. I haven't found one that I like yet. However, the lady at Vitamin Shoppe was a bodybuilder and suggested this other clear liquid protein to me.... it's wonderful! It's called Cytomax Pure Protein Performance and they have three flavors: watermelon (red), tangerine (orange) and tropical (green). I haven't had the watermelon yet, but the other two are a bit tart at first.... but I really am enjoying them. I put them in a huge mug with ice and sip sip sip throughout the day. They have 40 g of protein per 20 oz bottles and nothing else is in the drink (essentially... a bit of sucralose perhaps). They are made of whey protein isolate (which is the second ingredient behind purified water). I got mine from Vitamin Shoppe but I have seen them online to order as well. Hope you enjoy!
  21. Yes. You do feel full and it's uncomfortable. Additionally, I am not hungry in my stomach like I was before. I can do food for others and not have a care in the world about it (remember sleevers have their gherlin cut out of that portion of their tummy as well). I DO recognize "head hunger" now.....
  22. I was healthy to be obese as well (my stress tests show me to be in a high activity range); however, for whatever reason - diabetes doesn't care, nor does heart disease or cancer. At least that's what my dr's still said, but I also have a strong history of all three.
  23. I've been getting them at Vitamin Shoppe and I know I've seen them online as well. I'm not sure about GNC as I've not been there yet to see.....
  24. I agree with sitting them all three down together and get them to tell you what their hang ups are. Then I would ask for dedicated time to speak my piece. That's when you tell them this is for a longer, healthier life. To avoid diabetes, to avoid heart disease, to avoid cancer. Girl I had everything go wrong with mine but.... so far, I still don't regret it. I did this to live longer for my son and my husband as well as myself. And I did it for all of the above. Don't let anyone take you away from your dreams. You CAN do this.... but it's scary and man, it'd sure be nice to have support and I would remind them of that as well.
  25. Cytomax Protein Pure Performance drinks in either tropical or tangerine (I haven't tried the watermelon yet). I'm also liking these much better than the Isopures (sorry but it's just my personal preference). 40 g of protein per 20 oz bottle. A bit tart at first bite, but they rock! Made with whey protein isolate, no carbs, no sugar, about 160 cals per bottle.
