  1. Thanks so much. Surgery was 6/19. I've lost almost 50 pounds. Went from a size 30 to a 26. Still a Long way to go, but I feel so good now at 50 years old.:-)
  2. Thank you all so much! Was a great birthday!
  3. Today is my 50th birthday! I am 10 weeks post op. I am down almost 50 pounds. I feel as good as I did at 35. I have more energy than I have had in a long while. This surgery was the best thing I could have done for myself. It's not been easy and I have had ups and downs but it is all worth it. I'm so looking forward to the rest of my journey. Happy birthday to me! :-)
  4. Dr told me even before my surgery that I was going to lose slow. I'm 49 (next week the big one) and at this time of my life it will be harder to lose. Menopause stinks. He said just be patient and follow the plan and I should be fine.
  5. I went back to work 2 weeks to the day. I have a desk job. Was very tired after work, but did great.
  6. My Dr said I could drive once I stopped pain meds. I had an infection so was on it for 9 days. I see others off a lot quicker.
  7. Yea! Antibiotics working. No incisions. Just a second round of antibiotics. Thank God.
  8. Prayers your way.
  9. Hope you have lots of fun.
  10. I didn't have a drain either. But it is the large incision that is infected. Sure hope I don't have to pack it. I'm very queasy when it's stuff like that.
  11. Wow you've been thru a lot. Glad your feeling good now. How long do you have to keep packing your incision? Really hope I don't have to do that.
  12. So sorry. Not looking forward to my first one. Been lucky so far.
  13. Kayla when did they find that?. I had RNY 6/19/12. They saw it in hosp but thought it should go away. Also how are you feeling. I'm still sore on the left. Can't sleep on that side. But otherwise doing great.
  14. I've been hurting on the left side incision. I have a large lump that's red. Well it's got infection. Got an antibiotic and if not significantly better by Friday I have to get it lanced. Sigh...... If I have to have a complication I'll take this one. Other than that all was great. I can now have purée. Yeah The best part I lost 24 pounds. 323 now 299.
  15. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  16. I'm doing great with gas. Walking really helps with that. And small spits of a bowel movement. I feel good other than the lump.
  17. That's exactly what mine is. Large and hard and below it it's sunk in. So thankful that I'm not alone. Thanks so much. I'm calling tomorrow anyway but this makes me feel better.
  18. No X-rays thought it was swelling. Still as large as day one. Just waiting on my post op appt. which will be next Monday.
  19. Just wondering if anyone else had a large lump on the left side. They checked it in the hospital and said it looks like a large hematoma. Well today is 5 days post-op and it still hurts and it's still large. Could they have cracked a rib? Is this normal? Just wondering if I should worry.
  20. The provider has you go to the "Begin" class. It explains all about what you eat prior to and after surgery in detail. Then the do a short health fitness. Then if your over 300 pounds like I was, you have to go to a pulmonary dr for approval. Also EKG ,X-ray, blood work, upper Gi, ultrasound. All of which I had in one appt. the thing is you can't do any of this until you have already been approved. But it's all worth it to have the best in the area.
  21. Hey Tami my gurgery went great. Im 4 days post op. Still hurting some on left side. Bearable though. It took me about three months from the first pcp visit to surgery. Lots of requirements from provider and ins. It will be worth it.
  22. He is the founder of that practice. His partner dr ringold is who did mine. You picked the best practice. Had it on Tuesday and he said it was textbook perfect. You will be very impressed. Good luck.
