Accountability
Went to a party Saturday night. Made chili for everyone, something I knew I could eat. Brought a diet snapple for my dessert. It was REALLY hard to avoid all the candies and Cookies I used to eat so freely before. Even though I never want to get out of control again, part of me misses being able to graze as I used to. Being around food stresses me out now cuz I feel like I need to be on guard. Anyway I ate very healthy and avoided temptation. Breakfast - 1/2cup activia yogurt lunch - 1/2 boca burger (not easy to chew.. Probably won't try again for a whole), 1/4cup peaches dinner - 1/2 cup white chicken chili, 1 small watermelon wedge snack - 1 bottle Trop A Rocka diet snapple

May Bandsters!
Yes, I guess I don't understand those who say they can keep eating and eating. Lately after 1/2cup I feel uncomfortably full! I start burping and my stomach feels stuffed. How small are the bites you guys are taking? I am taking 45 mins to eat a small amount yet got some shrimp stuck yesterday so my only issue is, I get stuffed from a small amount, but I'm hungry again 2 hours later. I don't have a blog but I would totally read yours. I was watching YouTube videos this week and they were so inspirational and relatable.

What Do You Wish You'd Known?
Number 1 thing for me right now... I wish I had known that constipation would be an issue due to changes in my diet. It took an ER visit to understand why water intake is so important. Those of you about to be banded, please be aware of this and stay hydrated

Heal Time??
You can't drive while you are taking the pain meds. I didn't drive til about a week post op because it was uncomfortable sitting behind a wheel.

Unexpected criticism from friends
My childhood best friend told me not to get the surgery, and that it was the easy way out. However, a couple of weeks after surgery she texted to check up on me. I was surprised she came around. So, don't give up hope. However, always remember NO ONE knows what it is like to live in your body. They are in no position to judge you. This is for the better of your health. Keep your chin up.

Thank you so much for the prayers. I know how you feel when you say you didn't even want to go because of the pain. The day after I got home from the hospital due to the bowel obstruction, I was able to pass it... however the pain was horrible again. I think I'll start taking a softener every other day too and starting having Activia for Breakfast in the morning. The doctor said if Its been 2 days and I haven't had a BM, I need to take a laxative. Debbie are you on regular food now? Did you have any issues eating salad? I start regular foods in 3 days. I am little nervous considering I am only able to get down 1/2 cup right now, and got shrimp stuck today :/

Accountability
Hope you all had a good day. I have noticed my eating habits have changed the past week. I have been burping a lot today while eating and feeling uncomfortably full just from 1/2 cup of food. A couple weeks ago I could 1 cup with no problem. Is this normal? Also.. spicy food is a no-no. I used to LOVE food spicy. My sister is having a get together tomorrow and I volunteered to make the food so I can make it band-friendly. I am going to do chicken chili and lots of fruit/veggies. Has anyone tried Diet Snapple? I found one that is 10 cal per bottle and 0 carbs... I am wondering if this is good choice? juice was one of my issues before so I am trying to find a healthier option. Here is what I ate today.. Breakfast - 1/2cup yogurt, 1/4cup peaches lunch - 1/4 cup shredded beef, 1/4cup mango snack - 8oz milk dinner - 1 tomato slice, 3 pieces of grilled shrimp (MISTAKE. The shrimp was too tough and did not go down well) Snack - Water and 4oz pineapple juice

Calorie Free/low Cal Liquids
I am wondering what you guys are doing for cal free or low cal liquids? I have been drinking lots of Water, but am not liking crystal light, Gatorade low cal or Powerade zero (my nutritionist suggested those). Has anyone tried Trop A Rocka Diet Snapple? I am not sure if its ok for me to drink, but it's 10 cals per bottle and low carb.

May Bandsters!
I have heard soo many people say it took them months to feel any restriction which scares me. Did the full hurt much? Have you gotten sick from any foods now that you have liquid in your band?

What Was Your Last Hurrah?
The week before my pre op liquid diet, I went crazy. A different favorite restaurant every night. But my last night I had bbq chicken wings, steak with mashed potatoes, and a cookie sundae. Now that I'm banded, the thought of eating all that makes me sick. lol

3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
Thank you for the support. It's been a rough couple days. And I haven't tried watermelon since getting banded, but since it has such high Water content I'll give it a try! I'm desperate to never go through this again. I am drinking fluids nonstop today and had miralax. Just waiting for the rest of it to pass.

May Bandsters!
I'm surprised neither of you got a fill, but if you are losing without it, that's great. I really hope my doctor gives me one so I won't get hungry as often. Well as I posted in May Blooming Bandsters I spent 6 hrs in hospital yesterday due to severe constipation and bowel obstruction. One of the most painful and worst things I have gone through. I have had lots of water, and miralax today. Just waiting for the rest of it to pass.. Wish it wasn't so painful. I haven't been eating but I know I probably should :/ all I feel like is liquids right now

Accountability
Great job guys! Thanks girl! It makes it feel this is all worth it. I've done Zumba.., it's a blast, and best of all, non judgmental. I just signed up for a belly dancing class in June. Well I'll be honest... Today was horrible. Tried to have a BM this morning and was shaking, nearly blacking out and crying from the pain. Spent 6 hours in the ER, got an x ray, 4 rectal exams and 2 enemas, none Of which completely got rid of my bowel obstruction (impacted stools). They "broke it up" manually (incredibly painful) but still didn't all come out. I am mentally and physically drained. They sent me home suggesting hot liquids, tons of Water and stool softeners. I also bought miralax. Praying it passes tomorrow but I know it will be painful. All I had today was tea and juice. No exercise.

3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
Well I just left the ER. I spent 6 hours there. They found a bad bowel obstruction (impacted stool). I received 4 rectal exams and 2 enemas... I am physically and mentally exhausted. It STILL did not all pass. They said I need to take more stool softeners and drink as much liquid as possible tonight so the rest can pass tomorrow. It is still very painful when I try to go, and I have rectal bruising from all the exams. The nurses were amazing, but this has been my lowest point since being banded. Thank you everyone for the tips. I just got miralax and prune juice. Will also get activia and smooth move tea.

3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
Thank you for your suggestions. I was stupid and did nothing preventative. Haven't had a BM in a week but thought nothing of it. boy have I learned my lesson. I am getting in plenty of liquids, however eating fiber and drinking prune juice are gonna have to be a must. :/ Tried a BM again and literally felt I was going to black out, I shaking so bad. The pain and pressure comes in waves. I am going to the ER immediately. It just doesn't feel right and I'm getting scared.

3 Weeks Post Op, Horrible Constipation
Sorry if TMI but I woke up this morning and struggled to have a BM for an hour. Nothing came out. It was very painful and when I felt what was going on back there (gross I know), it was a hard mass. This happened on my pre op liquid diet and after taking stool softeners for 2 days it eventually broke up & passed. I thought when I was on soft foods it would be better but.. No.. What can I do? Am I allowed to have a couple of stool softener gel tabs at this point? Any home remedies?

May Bandsters!
Let me know how your fill goes. I have mine in a few weeks and I'm nervous! I'm starting to feel restriction in the morning... Otherwise nothing. I get full easily but don't stay full for more than 2 or 3 hours.
