good morning, Violets.. Had a good night's sleep on the couch last night. Will graduate to the bed upstairs in a couple of days. I'm waiting for the pain meds to kick in so Bob and I can work on the exercises. My mantra now is bend, bend, bend!! Janie.. I was not awake at all with the spinal. They give you something on top of that so you don't remember anything. At least I sure didn't. I remember being poked many times, don't even remember laying back down and then poof, I was in recovery awake and happy to be nausea free. The the pain killers dripped into the iv and that's all she wrote for 2 days. I just HATE that feeling. I had nothing to eat from Tuesday night until... well.... still nothing except some yogurt and jello. Nothing looks or sounds good to me except the percocet!! lol I hope to get up and take a shower today if Bob gets me a bench. I remember all these little things with my dad... now I'm where he was.. elevated toilet seat, grabber for stuff within reach...bench for shower.. All the fun equipment for getting old!! The nice part was I was asked if the surgery was an option because I didn't look old enough to have it. And NOBODY had a clue about lap band.. sheeesh!!!!!! I wanted to talk to my pt guy about it cause he sure could have used it. I can't imagine what the therapy would be like for me at + 50#! Off to exercise and do nothing for today and tomorrow and for the next 8-10 weeks!!! Wooo hooooo. I was nice and told the pastor he didn't need to come and see me while I was in the hospital. His last Sunday is tomorrow!!!!!! Can't wait for him to be done and to get on to the next phase for the church. Everyone have a great day. I'm home!!!!!! It was awful, awful, awful... with the nausea from the pain killers and the antibiotics and iron. I was fine with the anesthesia. But instead of one poke for the spinal, it was about 15 minutes of numbing and poking, numbing and poking. I was ok, just some pressure and of course being curled over for that long and I heard the word scoliosis.. :thumbup:( Knee is doing great. Of course pain, but I can walk on it and bend it and the stitches are the dissolving kind. wooo hoooo!! Outpatient therapy starts on Monday.. Can't wait to get in the pool, but that's weeks away. I'm headed off to read my tabloids and stretch and bend my new knee. Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and purple power. Next time forget about the pain and concentrate on my tummy, k?? :cool::tt2::wink2: Oh, the doc said that the knee was worse than he thought. No cartilage at all in it.. just bone on bone. Janie.. sorry if Bob didn't text you, but I have 2 Janes listed on my phone and he probably picked the wrong one, even though yours is listed as Jane Violet... MEN!! lol

Good evening, Violets.. I'm just in from a longggggggggg time in the pool. I did a round of exercises, then lazed around while the sun was out, then jogged another 25 times around the pool and finished up. Got out and mowed the backyard. I'm on the next to last load of laundry and then I'm done for the night. My friend who had her knee replaced yesterday looked wonderful today, so I'm hoping to feel the same. My surgery is at 8 tomorrow morning.. should be done by 10 and in my room by noon if all goes well. Bob has been instructed to text and to post on Facebook. PamELa... to redeem the gift card, just copy the number, go to your account and put it in there. Then whatever you order will come off of that amount first. The crock pot stroganoff is very simple. round steak sliced, 1 can cream of mushroom soup and onions sliced. Cook on low all day and when ready to serve add a small container of sour cream. Serve over noodles. I usually use a pound of meat for the two of us and I like LOTS of onions so I use two or three sliced. I haven't made it in a long time cause noodles didn't go down well, but now that my band is unfilled, I should try it again. I had a WHOLE hamburger for lunch today. Bob and I usually split one, but it went down slick as a whistle and I have not had any issues with gas or burping like I did before. Obviously my band was too tight. When I go to have it filled again, they will not put as much in it and we'll see how that goes. I'm going to put the countdowns to Saturday when I do them tonight. So don't be surprised when the time warp occurs!!

Good evening, Violets.. Back from grandpup sitting and now relaxing and watching X Files. I finished the book Sunday's Child and now am reading Little Girl Blue. Tomorrow Bob has a cardiac appt. and then it will be the waiting game. I need to pack a suitcase. We are going to go visit the lady that had her knee surgery today. It will be interesting to see how day 2 goes for her. Congrats on the new job Janie!! What are your responsibilities there?? Is it in addition to your other job or will you just be doing the new one?? Off to bed soon. Everyone have a good evening.. sleep well.

Just back from my hospital shift. I gave the doggies their happy pills and now waiting to take them in, in an hour. Janie.. I downloaded the 3 books based on the reviews in People this week. And Bob has been instructed to text the Violets when I am out of surgery. I have a friend who works at the hospital and she was able to get my surgery time before they call me to confirm it tomorrow. I have to be there at 6:30 a.m. Surgery will probably be at 8 and I should be out and in recovery by 10. Off to have some lunch. Not looking good for pool time. No sunshine at all and looking like rain.

Good morning, Violets.. I'm off to the hospital to work my shift. I have to make a ton of the patient education packets so they have some in reserve. I won't be back there for a longggggggg time. I ordered books for the Kindle... The Cookbook Collector (a novel), Little Girl Blue (bio of Karen Carpenter) and They're Watching (a thriller) and I STILL have enough left on the card for a couple more!! THANK YOU so much!!! Dreary day today. Bob is going to the hospital to be with his church organist. She is having........wait for it.......................knee replacement surgery! She has the same doctor as I do. I need to go and drop off my Advance Directive and then I'll be good to go for mine. I just want it over and done with. This waiting is the pits. Off to work. We take the dogs to the groomer today and then Bob goes out to Kris's this afternoon to watch her dogs for awhile. Everyone have a great day!!!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Just back from church and going to let lunch settle in before I head to the pool for the afternoon. Bob has to go out of town for an ecclesiastical council for someone to become ordained, so I'll be on my own for the afternoon and evening. Not a problem cause I really need some down time after the Garden Walk yesterday. It was a very big success. We had about 100 people walk through the gardens and the most common word I heard was "peaceful". They loved my clematis vine and all the painted windows on the fence. I'm going to take a video of the gardens and post it on Facebook later today or tomorrow. Now all that work is done and we can relax and enjoy the flowers for the rest of the summer. I am looking forward to spending my days out on the deck after the surgery. Off to the pool and some tanning, exercise and probably sleeping!! Everyone have a great afternoon.

Good morning, Violets.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELLE!!! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day.:thumbup: We are in a hotel an hour and a half away from our band doc. We're leaving in an hour for our appointment. Then off to Fashion Bug to see what treasures they have and then on our way 4 hours to home. We want to get some yard work done tonight and finish up tomorrow. The people whose gardens are on the Garden Walk will be making a tour Friday night to see all the gardens since we will be stationed at our own garden on Saturday during the actual walk. Should be fun! Everyone have a great day.
