Good morning, Violets.. It's a beautiful, chilly Monday morning here. I've let the dog out, grabbed the paper and am contemplating when to crank up the heater on the pool. The water temp is 80 this morning and the air temp is 54. I think I'll wait til about noon so I can get in and swim after Ethan goes home at 5. The Bobster will be gone most of the day today and tomorrow he's gone out of town all day. It's the most we've been without seeing each other since our separate trips this summer. I don't mind it though. Sometimes I like having my own space as long as I know he'll be back soon. Denise.. your grandsons are so sweet. Don't you just love that baby smell?? And those chubby cheeks!! I look forward to having Ethan every chance I get. He knows for sure no matter what else happens in his life, that MomMom and Poppa love him. Ethan's dad made a doctor's appointment for him on the 18th of Sept. I'm anxious to see what the doc says about Ethan's speech. The doc is Nathan's best friend and he's already talked to him about checking Ethan over really well. Kat.. sounds like you're getting a lot done there!! Don't forget to take pics for us. Suzie...I just LOVE the pool heater. Wish we could have afforded it sooner, but I'll certainly take it now. I don't know why I love the water so much, but I just feel so relaxed and happy in it. Jenn... are you sure you're getting enough to eat??? I'm guessing that's why you're so tired all the time! Are you taking vitamins? Off to find something for breakfast. Everyone have a great day!!

Good Evening, Violets.. Well, another weekend under the belt. I just got back from a nice swim and exercising in the pool. Air temp is 68, pool water is 86. Now THAT'S what I've been missing all summer!!! We just packed up the tables from the party and now it's raining. The Bobster and I were looking forward to another nice outside fire tonight, but it's not looking good for that. We'll see how it is in a couple of hours. Choir went well today. It was nice to have everyone back and singing pretty! Now I just have to check on my sub director for Oct. 12 and 19 when we'll be on our next cruise. My food choices for this weekend have been pretty good considering. I did indulge in some chips and a cookie last night at the party. Other than that it was sloppy joe without a bun, a couple bites of potato salad, and a few bites of other salads that people brought. I had a granola bar for breakfast, some left over pot roast hash for lunch and will have a hot dog, make that TRY to have a hot dog and some watermelon for supper. We'll have to see if ice cream rears it's ugly head later on this evening. Hope Haydee's trip is going well. TracyinKS.. where da heck are ya??? Laura.. your cats are adorable. Michelle... any poop updates for us??? Kat.. you need to slap that SIL upside the head! What a rude thing to say!!! I just don't understand why people feel they have to be so mean! Good Morning, Violets.. I'm up and getting ready for church. My choir sings again for the first time this season. It's back to the routine once again. The party was great. We had 25 here and the rain held off for the entire time. They loved my yard and I was really proud. Now the Bobster says we're done til next year. I don't blame him, we did a lot this year. But it was all worth it. I'm going to swim in the pool after church today and I'm looking forward to that. Jenn...be strong. My mom tried to commit suicide three times after my brother and I left home for college. Thankfully she survived and got some professional help. But I know how depression is and if you don't seek that help, then it's an insurmountable feeling of despair. Kat... we'll all be here for you when you're alone this week! Being here for each other is one of the things the Violets do best! Ethan comes over Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week and then stays the weekend with us while his mom and dad go to a wedding. I have a concert on Saturday, so Kris will take him for the night. Gina.. glad to see you back! My plateau has been an ongoing thing since January. Can't seem to lose and keep it off. But I'm going for a fill in a couple of weeks and hope that helps. I just keep plugging away hoping that it will eventually start dropping off again. At least I know my body shape is changing. Clothes I have that used to be tight are now comfortable. Well, I better get off here and get some breakfast before church. Everyone have a great day. BBL....

Suzie.. simple veggie dish and yummy. 4 cans of corn and 1 8 oz. pkg of cream cheese. Heat up both together until the cream cheese melts.. easy peasy..

Good afternoon, Violets.. Just got in from the pool. It's 84 in there and awesome! Finally I get to enjoy it like I have wanted. Got all my exercises done and just floated around and relaxed. Actually spent more time than I wanted in the pool cause wasps were blocking my exit and of course the Bobster didn't hear me banging on the pool edge cause he was engrossed in a tv football game. I finally braved my way out and figured if I got stung, I'd suffer through it. I got out very slowly and climbed down the steps very slowly and got away without being stung, though one got in my hair. I got it out before it did anything. The Bobster got a few choice words involving hearing aides from me. Everything is just about ready for the party. I made a big bunch of sloppy joes and the yard is all mowed and ready for company. It's turned out to be a beautiful Fall day here. 66 degrees and sun shining. We'll have a fire going in the fire pit and hopefully everyone will dress warm. I'm off to get the last couple of tablecloths for the tables and then I'm done til 6 when everyone arrives. Terry.. the necklace and the words are beautiful. PamELa.. I lost my mom 4 years ago last April, my dad two years ago March and my brother in December of 1995. All their ashes are buried in the memorial gardens of the church. My mom was a wonderful gardener so I made sure her ashes were in a flower garden. She never got over my brother's death so I made sure they were together and even though she and my Dad didn't get along for much of their marriage, he's there too and I'm sure she's saying.. "what were you thinking????"!! I sang for my brother's funeral and I sang for the memorial service for my Dad and the burial of all of their ashes. It was so hard to do, but I knew I had to do it, so I made it through the songs and then did my crying afterwards. I usually do that whenever I sing for a funeral. Sing and then weep. Suzie... I'm looking forward to getting in the pool tomorrow after church. I have Ethan Monday afternoon, so I want to get my pool time in, in the morning. This month might be the last chance I get to be in the pool. It's already darn cool here in the evenings. Hopefully Indian summer will hit towards the end of September and then after that we'll shut down the pool. But the good part is we can open it up in April next year and actually be in it instead of waiting til July like this year. Gotta run to Walmart.. Everyone have a great afternoon!! Good evening, Violets.. Nice, quiet day here today. The Bobster was at church and Ethan was home with his daddy so I had the house to myself. Got everything ready for the choir party. The swimming pool is up from 68 to 80 this evening. I AM going to go swimming in the morning!! Got the lawn mowed and now just have to do the trimming and make the sloppy joes tomorrow afternoon and we'll be ready. I made up a choir trivia game and got three gag gifts. We have fire wood all ready to put in the fire pit since it is getting dark at about 8 now. So far I have 20 people coming, but I'm guessing there will be more that didn't bother to rsvp. I'm going to go watch some tv with the Bobster and read my tabloids and then head to bed. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well!

Woooooo hooooooooooooooooo!! We have heat going to the pool!!!!! And I soooooo wanted to tell the gas guy about Lap band. He was huge and so uncomfortable looking. I just wanted to say, "ya know, there's help for you". But that would be rude so I just thanked him for getting the pool heater up and running. I'm off to clean the kitchen and do some laundry so the house is in good shape for the choir party tomorrow!

Good Morning, Violets.. Well,the gas guy arrived at 8:30 and is out there now putting the adapter on so we can get gas to the heater and my pool can get warmed. I said if I couldn't use the pool in September, I would be really pissed, since we're spending all this money!! But it looks like I just might make it in the pool before we have to chip the ice off. PamELa.. I know exactly what you're talking about with the green boob lady.I pm'd Alex about the pics on the home page. Specially when that lady's butt appeared. I didn't get a response. I figured it was just me that didn't like to see that stuff first thing in the morning. Terry.. the rosary is beautiful. Such a fitting tribute to your mom. Laura... love reading about your dreams. Makes my look almost tame!! Jenn.. I agree with Tracy.. don't go starving yourself!! I know the Bobster and I are ready for a fill. I feel like grazing all day long lately. It's been a couple of months since we've been in, so it's time. We have an appointment on the 15th. Gotta go get dressed and ready for the day. The gas guy has to come in and light the pilots for the water heater and dryer. Then it's time to fire up the pool!! Everyone have a great day!!!

Good evening, Violets.. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh rehearsals are done for the week. All I have tomorrow is a nail appointment. Ethan comes at 7:30 so I'm going to head to bed pretty soon, so I can be up and showered before he gets here. Still no heat in my pool.. if I don't get to swim in it this month, I'm going to be really disappointed!! Lunasa.. good to hear from you again! My Godson just stopped by to thank me for the birthday card I gave him with some cash stashed inside. He's 16 today and got his driver's license so he drove over to give me a thank you hug. He's such a good guy. Actually he's the son of the lady next to the black haired lady in the picture. She's our church organist and accompanies me when I sing and makes me sound good. I couldn't do it without her. As for Kindergarten... I gotta tell you, I'm glad I got out when I did. When I went back to sub and then to visit, I was shocked by the reading program they had. The kids were sitting for long periods of time doing reading work. I asked about playtime and they said there was no time for that. We used to have a great program for the kids. It was so much fun. We did a letter a week with a special theme for the letter. A was apples and we did apple activities all week and then we made applesauce on Friday. B was bears and we made Bear Biscuits, C was Cowpokes and I got to talk with my southern twang and we had a campfire (fake, of course) on Friday. It was Friday cookin' day each week. They don't do any of that anymore. I always looked forward to P week which was Popcorn week. We had a Popcorn/pajama party on Friday and I got a new pair of pajamas each year to wear to school. It was always so much fun. Now it's read, read, read, write, write, write. Like I said.. I'm glad I'm retired. The homework assignments we used to give were family projects, like filling out a family tree, or decorating a Thanksgiving turkey. I had lots of my students reading by the end of the year, but that was not a requirement like it is now. I guess that's progress. Jenn.. those sliders sound like our White Castle burgers. Greasy little postage stamp size burgers with onions on a steamed bun that go down in one bite. I haven't had one of those since April 2007. PamELa.. make that FORMER roomie. I gots me a new chickie now. And she's a PRES.!! She does have some pooping issues, but I'm not prejudiced in the least. Well, I better check my email and then head to bed. That's a bass flute. It has a real low, rich tone. Sorta like a flute on steroids.

Tracy.. the cabinets are gorgeous!! You both did a great job!! Laura.. first pot roast I've made in years and years. Kris got some beef from a co-worker and she said I could have what I wanted so I grabbed a round bone roast, a round steak, ribs and some ground beef. That should do us for a long time. I put in a ton of carrots and some potatoes. Sure hope it's as good as it looks! Michelle.. our dogs are at the groomer right now. And their dog food has gone up to $30 a bag. And these are tiny little squirts!! What we don't do for our pets! Well, the gas pipe guys have gone for the day. And the job isn't done. They found out they are missing a little part...... the one that connects the whole shebang to the gas! And here I was hoping to be in a warm pool tomorrow afternoon. I don't know when they will finish now if they can't locate that part. The guy says it wasn't in the bag when they opened it up. Sounds like a "man excuse" for "I opened the bag, the part fell out and I can't find it" to me!! One rehearsal done and another one to go this evening. Plus I need to practice some flute parts for my rehearsal tomorrow. Can we say "music overload??"!! Everyone have a great afternoon! PamELa...soooooooo what did your students learn today?? And what did YOU learn today?? It's 86 degrees here right now and I am in an a/c house instead of a NON a/c classroom with 25 little munchkins who want to know when it's time to play, time to eat, time to nap, time to go home.... I know I made the right decision to retire when I did!!!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Just got back from singing at a funeral. Afterwards, I was asked if I would sing the song at our church's Fall Association Meeting. So I guess I have another gig coming up! I'm on my way to yet another rehearsal and then home to make a pot roast for tonight before I go to my next rehearsal this evening. Tomorrow is flutes, hospital shift and then choir rehearsal. Times flies when yer' having fun. I'll check up on all the posts when I get some time this afternoon. The gas pipeline is almost in. I can also almost feel the warm water in the pool.
