  1. Has anyone found out they were pregnant while they were in the process of getting banded? I am about 2 months from having surgery scheduled and just found out that I'm 4 weeks pregnant...Am I going to have to start over from scratch?
  2. I understand that, I was wondering if they cancel your procedure all together and you have to go through the process all over again or if they just postpone it until after the pregnancy.
  3. Is there anyone that can tell me if they found out they were pregnant before their scheduled surgery? If so, what happened, was it just postponed until after the birth or ...? Just a general question and thanks in advance!
  4. Thank you everyone for all of the advice. After my original surgeon told me that he didn't recommend lap band, I went into a spiral for a while and gained about 7 pounds in 3 weeks. I decided that I am going to meet with a different surgeon and get a second opinion and I hope that the outcome of this goes a little better. Please throw some good vibes my way and thanks again. Nelle
  5. So I was freaking out big time cause I thought that I could only have the dr. that my insurance selected, but I'm apparently very special and I can pick the surgeon of my choice. I want to thank everyone that responded to my question, and I am going to seek a second opinion and hopefully get a surgery date soon. Keep you all posted!
  6. i'm in Maryland, and I =have Kaiser Permanente, does anyone else have Kaiser? I'm so confused, he also said you only lose about 30-50% of excess weight? Have you guys lost more? I just want to make sure I have the best chance possible.
  7. So I had my initial meeting with my surgeon today, and he told me that he doesn't recommend the lap band surgery at all!! He told me that he removes almost more bands than he puts in, and told me I should consider one of the other 2 surgeries. I have no idea what to do now. I had my heart (and head) set on the band, but now I'm completely thrown for a loop... Can anyone tell me what they would do in this situation? I'm not too keen about getting 1/2 my stomach removed and I'm not even going to contemplate the bypass...HELP!!!
  8. This is so exciting to hear!! I haven't had surgery yet but I meet with my surgeon March 2, hopefully get my surgery date then! anywho, I wear a size 11 wide width, and its the hardeat thing in the world to find cute shoes that don't hurt my feet and don't cost a ridiculous amount of money. I end up at payless hoping their not sold out because the selection is so small. This gives me hope that after surgery I can wear a size 9 (preferably and 8, but i'm kind of tall) and get some sexy stilletos! Thanks ladies!!
  9. I want to be able to buy a wedding dress and it not be plus-sized. I also want to be able to wear a bikini on my honeymoon!!
  10. I received my approval for surgery yesterday, and I meet with my surgeon (Dr. Cantor) next Friday. As excited as I am, it’s a little bittersweet, because I'm told it’s a 4-6 month wait for the surgery...Oh well, I STILL GOT APPROVED!!!! However, can anyone tell me what questions I should ask my surgeon? I have some general questions, but I want to be prepared as possible for this meeting and make sure I can get as much information from him that I can.
  11. You should try and find the Crystal lite popsicles. I first tried them this summer while dieting and needind smething sweet. You should be able to find them at any grocery store, but I found them at Safeway. Good Luck on your Journey, I'm hoping to be there soon!
  12. Good Luck to you on your journey back to a size 6 (or smaller if you want) and to your mon as well!!!
  13. Awesome!! How was the pre-op and post-op diet? My nutritionist told me that he prefers not to do the mushies but to do all liquid for like 6-8 weeks then ween in solid food. Any advice or tips you can share would be amazing!
  14. I have finished all of the requirments for surgey (6 months nutritionish visits, weight loss classes, surgeon infor sessions) and now I am waiting to hear if I was approved or not. Is there anyone in with Kaiser that has had to wait for approval that can tell me how long you had to wait? Or if there is anyone that had Dr. McKenna for a surgeon? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
  15. Alright, so who has done everyrthing that they needed to do in order to get the surgery, and are just waiting on that pesky approval...THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE!!! I have Kaiser Permanente and there is 6 months worth of nutritionist appointments, information sessions, and weight loss classes, and now I have to wait on my approval. I'm so nervous but excited at the same time, and I'm not even sure that I am getting approved...Although I'm pretty sure that I'm getting approved. Think positive thoughts Janelle. Good Luck to anyone that is in the same boat!

  17. I am in the exact same spot you are. I just had my last nutritionist visit on Wednesday and I am just waiting for approval. I have to redo my sleep study (such a pain in the @$$ BTW) but I'm hoping for surgery in Late February- Early March. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. Good Luck and I hope you get your approval soon!
