Started this whole journey in July, banded this past February 3rd. Pain was not as bad as I thought it would be. I think the worst part of the whole procedure was drinking that awful thick fluid to make sure everything was passing through ok. Justing thinking about it makes me gag. Also had a very large hiatal hernia repair done at the same time. On third day of clear liquids, one more day to go. Have not been really hungry, just feeling really dry most of the time. Trying to keep liquids coming in as fast as I can without any discomfort.

2.5 years out and you can hardly see my scars except the port one, most of them are concealed under my boobs! Even the port one is just a thin white line. There are not too many people who get to look at my stomach so it's really not an issue.

Thanks Everyone!!!! I am now almost exactly 6 months out from banding and down 85 pounds as of this morning!!! For those who asked how I'm doing it - I will be honest - i've done very little exercise - my guilty little secret is that i will "kick in the workouts" when i start hitting plateaus - which according to everyone on here are more common the less you weigh and closer you get to your goal. I still drink alcohol too - usually only one night a week - during my Sat. family poker games - and it's vodka with water/ice and a 1/2 pack of crystal light. The biggest help to me - I think - is this: I am on 800 calories per day per my surgeon. About 1 x every week to 10 days i go up to about 1200 calories for that day (possibly a little more or less) then go right back to the 800 calories per day thereafter. My weight loss counselor from my insurance company said that "mixing it up" like that every once in a while promotes weight loss because it shakes up the body and avoids the body getting so used to the 800 calories per day that it starts plateauing (spelling? LOL). I don't know the science behind it or whether that is a medical fact - but i'll tell you i truly think that's why i'm doing so well. Fills help too - i had no restriction at all for the first 4.5 months - it was pure will power. I have restriction now and cannot overeat even if i want to. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!! !

I can't believe it - I've never lost 50 pounds in my life - usually stop at 40 pounds on all prior diets. I was so happy to see this on the scale this morning. 3 1/2 months out of surgery - I'm thrilled with these results so far. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF US ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!

Pink, I had a patient come into my office the other day and asked, "Who is the new girl?" This came from a patient who has been coming to my office since the 1980's! She just saw me from the side and was totally shocked when I turned around and she could see me directly.

Thanks. My not so secret secret is journaling. I still don't feel like I'm in the green zone. I still get hungry sooner than 4 hours. But I weigh and measure everything and stick to that. Sometimes I go over, but for the most part I stick to 1000 calories a day up to 1300.

Yay for non scale victories! Today I was left to use the last towel in the closet, the one that no one likes to use. And you know it must be small if no one else wants to use it, considering I "WAS" the biggest one in the house! Well, today that towel wrapped around me and I was able to tuck it under my arm! WOO HOO! I am reaping the benefits of a new, healthy lifestyle. I am so thankful everyday for what the band has helped me achieve!

Today is one year since being banded. I have to say this has been the most exciting year ever, and I would gladly do this again! I have worked really hard all year long to do my absolute best and I am currently down 160 pounds. I had a major surgery at the end of December so it stalled my weight loss, but I am back to working out again, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next year!

The soup is a liquid. The crackers, veggies and noodles are not. Try clear liquids for a day.
