  1. So yesterday I completed the final step...the mental exam... I heard back today and I'm good to go now my authorization request is on its way to UHC. This will probably be the longest 14 days...LOL!
  2. Thanks for the advice. I will def. wait and hopefully the girls will become smaller on their own.
  3. I got my my results back today and I cleared my Labs, EKG and Chest Xray...all thats left is my mental exam and then we submit to UHC.... wish me luck!
  4. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. This website is pretty amazing and I've learned so much. I am looking forward to a new me and a healthy life
  5. So on Jan 5th I visited Dr Dietrick and was told that I am an eligible candidate for the LapBand....WOOHOO!!!! On Jan 13th, I had my EKG, UA, Blood work and Chest X-ray the only thing left on my list is to get my mental health evaluation. Our next step is obtaining copies of my weight for the past 6 yrs as proof that I have been overweight. I am a little stressed because I was pregnant for 3 of the past 6 yrs so they do not want to use any weight from those years in fear UHC will deny the authorization. So now, we are just trying to gather what we can and work from there. Has anyone else run into this problem with UHC and verifying weight? Dr Dietrick and I have discussed a goal weight of 160lbs to start so that is 90lbs I am planning to lose. I try to imagine what it would be like to weight 160lbs and it is hard but yet so exciting. My husband is very concerned of the ricks as well as me losing weight to fast and then becoming unhappy with saggy skin. My other family members are so supportive of my decision and have offered to help where it is needed. I am new to this website and this whole adventure any support or suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. Well I visited Dr. Dietrick and the nutritionist on Thursday he informed me that I would be a great candidate for the lapband. After speaking with the nutritionist I now have a better understanding of how my life will change. I have to say most of my fears have been settled. Next steps: 1. Chest Xray and EKG 2. Blood Labs 3. Psych exam 4. Collect medical records 5. Submit authorization request to UHC and then cross my fingers they approve. I'm excited!
  7. Hello my name is Wanda I'm a 31 yr old mother of 3 c section boys. I have decided that I have had enough with my weight and I having my 1st lap band appt with Dr Dietrick on 1/5/12. I am so nervous I am not sure what to expect or how this will all work out for me. I've read and have been told some horror stories but then again I've seen some success. I have United Health Care and they do cover the surgery after a 6mth waiting period. What exactly is suppose to happen during those 6 mths? I'm currently 5'5" 250lbs Waist Size: 20w Bra Size: 40DDD My Goal: 5'5" (can't change that...lol) 150lbs Waist Size: 10 Bra Size: ??? Having 3 c sections worries me will I have issues with that scar tissue? Will my back and shoulder pain go away? I need a breast reduction should I have it before my lap-band or wait? What about my bat-wings for arms? and the main concern.... My stomach will I be left with flabby skin & how do I get that lower spare tire to go away? Any suggestions or help would be great.
