  1. Welcome and congrats! I'm not weighing myself yet- I'm only 4 days out, I see my surgeon on Monday, then I will try to weigh only weekly, but I can totally tell I've lost weight! Good luck on your journey- keep us posted!
  2. I would think that removing port would be next option. Also, with MRSA re-currences are likely unfortunately. We all have staph on our body, but you don't want to become septic messing with it. Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery!
  3. Just wanted to tell you all how great it is that we have this forum to come to. I've literally been crying off and on today for no reason. I come to this site for support and understanding and instantly feel better! No where else can I talk about how many times I've pooped today with total strangers and feel ok about it! Thanks for your encouraging words, direct and indirect. They really got me through today. Mags

Journey4me- definitely stock your house with everything you will need before surgery. Invest in a pill crusher/cutter, gas-x for sure! I found that the progresso soups strained filled me more than just broth. Super excited for you!
  5. Thanks for your encouraging words Shay that there is hope! I was truly getting teary eyed all the time today because I just need to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Glad you are feeling well!
  6. Hey ! Tender is a great way to put it. I had the 2incision lapband and i tell you what this left side is killing me! Im 4 days out now and today i think i overdid it. I went for a drive by myself ( not really sure what my dr said), but i just couldnt stay in the house anymore. Visited my parents about 45min. Away then took a nap at my sisters on the way home. By time i got home i was in quite a bit of pain. Took a loooong hotshower and just now am starting on my second protein shake. I switched to Nectar sweets brand chocolate. My sheet says i can have skim milk so i mixed it with that and i seem to be doing better. I was tired of pooping!( sorry to be gross). Having issues with constantly needing to sneeze, and tonight im very tearful. I think its because im such a go getter and right now im not seeing the light at the end where i will feel like myself again..........

So Im not sure if its my type A personality or that Im a nurse thats pissing me off more. Ive never had "major" SURGERY! HOWEVER i had NO idea i would be this tired and no energy. I have vowed not to weigh myself until my Dr. Aapt. Monday. Overall feeling good, just cant wait to be "back to my crazy self!"
  8. 2manymeds, I mean holy sheet (pun intended). I was always "regular" 5x daily (sorry to get so personal), so after surgery I didnt go for 2 days. Now its like the protein shakes go right through me! Im going to go get some fiber powder and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.
  9. Hey- I'm just three days out and have heard my stomach growling, but no hunger pains as of yet. My protein shakes are finally running right through me so I think I need to up my water. Its so hard getting all my fluids, all my protein etc in. I've been off pain meds since yesterday. I just want to feel like my old self. I don't like not having energy. I've been gradually doing things around the house. Great job on your weight loss so far! Thats promising and inspiring! I've yet to get on a scale. Figured I would wait until my first appt. Keep me posted. We can do this!
  10. Bbbanded, i like the atkins too! Post-op I bought Nectar brand whey protein isolate. Congrats to all the January dates! So exciting!
  11. My surgeons recommendations are nothing bigger than an aspirin. I do chewable vitamins, crush my prilosec, and my B1 i pour out of the capsule and mix in jello. Always check with your pharmacy what can and cant be crushed, as well as following your Dr. Orders.
  12. Last night i stayed in the recliner and didnt sleep to good. Might try the bed tonight. When i breath in deep my left side pulls. Im backing down on my loratab to every 5hrs and 10ml instead if 15ml. I havent been hungry at all, hope that feeling lasts!
  13. I'm not feeling that bloating everyone talks about? My surgeon "suspends" the liver out of the way with sutures anchoring it up. Not sure if everyone does that. Overall, I'm doing great. Getting my fluids/60g protein shakes in and thank God I finally pooped today (sorry to be so forthcoming!) Glad the site is back up. I was kind of going through withdrawls. Feeling slightly weak, but making myself get up and do little things around the house. Hope you all are well! Maggie
  14. Getting ready to leave for surgery!
  15. Well, it's about 10:16p St. Louis time. After nesting like a pregnant mother getting ready to deliver twins, I have successfully cleaned the kitchen, done ALL the laundry, finished my business tasks I needed to get done, swept, dusted. You name it. Has anyone else experienced that? I'm sure my husband is thinking, "You should get surgery more often and our house would be cleaner!" Kids are all tucked in, I'm getting ready to hibacleanse scrub and then I think I'm hitting the sak. I was not required to do a pre-surgery diet at all, but felt it would be best. At first I was going to do all hard core, but I really did protein shakes, and high protein meat. No bread (except at Maggiano's once) and I've quit soda cold turkey. I've lost 9lbs pre-op. Today I did egg whites with spinach, 2 pc turkey bacon. Then an Isopure for lunch, and I've had two protein shakes. Not as hard as I thought leading up to surgery. I'm fortunate enough to be a nurse in the surgery center world, so I already know who my CRNA will be. Kind of weird though now everytime I see her I will think, gee she saw my big NAKED fatty-boubaladdy self! Oh well. I guess there could be worse things right. Super excited to start feeling better. 0930 can't get here soon enough! I don't even care about skinny clothes or looking, "hot". I want to be able to bend over and tie my shoes without being out of breath. I want to get up in the morning and not have to lug around an extra 200lbs. This fat chic is ready to be healthy!
  16. I've been so busy with my photobooth business (Thank God!) over this last weekend with a big wedding show that the time has FLOWN by! Can't believe tomorrow is here. I have to arrive by 0930. Was NOT very impressed with not finding out my surgery time/arrival until after 5:00pm today, AND after I called them twice. People have to make arrangements, etc. I truly get surgery scheduling because I'm a surgery nurse, but really? Finding out my surgery time at 5:30pm the night before surgery? Kind of re-donk-ulous. I'm getting ready to go scrub-a-dub-dub! See you all on the skinny side! Maggie
  17. I'm also having my surgery tomorrow ! Good luck!
  18. I'm also having my surgery tomorrow ! Good luck!
  19. Tiana! Congratulations on taking back your life NOW! Reading your post, you literally had me in tears. If I could turn back the clock and start this process at your age, I think we all would. You are not alone in this, and I too was told to get off a ride (as everyone is sitting there starting at me knowing why I was asked to get off). If you need any support at all please email. So excited for you!
  20. Hi horsegirl- you should be fine. Surgery of course there are risks, but unless you have extreme health issues youll be fine. Dont freak yourself out too much.
  21. 10. Going up in the Arch in the pod-a fat chick is a funny site in one of those! 9. I dont want to be an exhibit at the Science Center on how obese Americans are. 8. Forest Park. THREE words- sinking a paddleboat! 7. West County, Chesterfield, Midrivers, The Mills. Shopping in "Non-big girl stores! 6. Six Flags. NEVER again will I have to get off the Screaming Eagle because I dont fit. 5. Busch Stadium- I'll be able to sit in the seats without the sidearms digging into my hips. 4. June - September in St. Louis. I will be able to go to pools in a swimsuit! 3. December-February in the STL. Sledding Art Hill without having a heart attack. 2. Susan G. I will not be out of breat walking in the Susan G. Walk. and the number one reason to be skinny in St. Louis is..........drumroll................. 1. When I go to my highschool reunion ( c' mon you knew there would be a highschool reference right?) All my classmates will say " You look the Same as you did in highschool!
  22. My family also is centered around food. My husbands as well. I will have to work on this I'm sure.
  23. Hi Mich! Sending peaceful and calming thoughts for your blood pressure. Hopefully if your PCP got you on meds right away, you will be under control enough for surgery. My EKG was abnormal, but I had a stress test done two years ago. I talked to the hospital today to make sure there weren't going to be any surprises day of surgery, and I think so far so good. Hang in there!
  24. I agree with Patty Girl that this site is for all of us bandsters to stick together! Some of my family doesn't even understand, stating well can't you just do it on your own. I too am completely a Type A personality which is where I think we get in to trouble, because we CAN"T control this sometimes. Keep positive!
