Need Therapy
Let me preface I'm not trying to scare you out of surgery, but I want you to be successful!! One of my friends had WLS about 5 yeas ago as a self pay and wasn't psychologically ready. She turned into a sex addict, and then once she got over that she became bulimic. There are SO many crazy things that you will go through as you get ready for surgery...I'm really thankful that my psych saw something in me that made her say she wanted to see me a couple more times. Those follow-up visits were great and i came out with so much more confidence that I will be successful. Please take the recommendation for more help seriously!

Congrats!!! Can't wait to see your progress!

Enchiladas
One of my fav meals on my pre-op supervised diet was a taco bowl. I layered refried beans, beef or turkey meat with taco seasoning, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, salsa and lean sour cream. Gave me all the flavors I was craving. I think this will be a staple again through mushies and soft foods post op!

Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!
Since surgery is next week, I'll stick to lower impact workouts that don't cause me so much pain and do a proper fitting when I go shopping for my new work staples closer to returning to work. I've lost 50 lbs this year pre-op, all of my current clothes are already falling off but I'm just TOO cheap to really buy anything before surgery. The only thing I HAD to buy were some smaller undies for under skirts/dresses. My current ones ended up around my knees one day walking out of my last NUT appt

Combined Gallbladder Removal?
They brought it up during my pre-op consultation, and was a 2 min discussion. My Nurse asked if there was a history of gallbladder issues, I said yes, then she said the dr will probably just decide to remove it as well. I said, Ok and she just marked it on the orders and away we went. My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 11th! My overly large belly is swimming in Protein Shakes and other Clear Liquids. I'm currently trying to choke down my nectar pink grapefruit in crystal light lemonade. Do you have your date yet?

June Surgery Pre-Op Diets Encouragement/vents
Hey all!! Just checking in! I am officially half way through my pre-op diet!!!!!!!!!! Today has been a great day I heard from most people I talk with that day 3/4 are the hardest, and so far that is true, but not in the same way I was expecting. I was thinking it was going to be that those were the day where I'd want to cheat the most, but they were the days where I could barely choke down my shakes. Yesterday I even skipped my last shake because I just couldn't do it. I've learned that last shake has to be something lighter...I've been using the nectar sample packets I bought and mixing them with Crystal Light Lemonade. Just can't do that 5th milk based shake. I also tried the Ensure Clear premade drinks, and they are decent. I think they may be good while I'm on clears to get some nutrients and Protein in! Hope you all are doing awesome on your pre-ops. Love you all!

How And When Do I Start Disability Money
I submitted my disability insurance weeks ago and I go in for surgery next week. I wanted to make sure they had all the paperwork while I was thinking clearly. Good luck!!!

Combined Gallbladder Removal?
My surgeon is also removing my gallbladder at the time of surgery. My ultrasound did not show any current gallstones, nor do I have symptoms...but I have a family history of gallstones. Since gallstones can be more prevalent with rapid weight loss, we decided the best course of action was to remove it as well. For me it was an easy decision, I would much rather avoid any complications and need for additional surgery in the future. Good luck with your decision

Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!
I have never had a proper "bra fitting", so I think that's my first step! I'm a big girl, I've been wearing 48Ds. I have lost 70 lbs, and they still seem to fit alright (which seems WAY odd to me). The worst is when I work out....I was on the elliptical and thought the girls were going to detach from my body and fly across the room. I'm also thinking of buying a band size small and get some extenders, and try out the genie bras as well!! You all rock

Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!
I'm going in for my sleeve in less than a week!! I've pretty much figured out how to keep up with replacing my wardrobe on a budget, except for the bras. These suckers are expensive....plus I need good support. I just wanted to see what others have done to make sure the girls have what they need while going through sizes so quickly. Thanks!

Guess I Am More Emotional Than I Thought...
I'm SO emotional right now too! I'm a week out from surgery (and doesn't help I'm expecting my period in a day or two). I called my best friend yesterday to invite her out to a baseball game on Sunday since I'll be a wreck waiting around all day on Sunday for surgery the next day. She flat out said no...then backtracked with some excuses. It shouldn't have upset me...but it did. I cried on and off for hours. My big annoyance at work was my boss filling up the huge communal candy jar that sits right across from the bathroom I visit 20 times a day with all these damn liquids. Oh well...4 more days of work I hope things start getting easier for you

Pre-Op Diet
My insurance required supervised diet was very similar. Here is a typical day, maybe it will help?! Breakfast- 2 poached eggs, 1 piece of whole wheat toast with 1 tsp butter, handful of spinach, banana Lunch- lean cuisine type meal, 1-1.5 cups broccoli or green Beans, apple saucecup-- or a 6" subway sub with lots of "extra" veggies and an applesauce cup. Afternoon Snack- 8 oz of 1% milk and 1 scoop Protein powder Dinner- 3-4 oz lean meat, 1-1.5 cups broccoli or green beans, some sort of fruit If I felt I needed a snack, I would have 8 oz of milk and it really did help! Good luck!!! You can do it!

How Much Time Off Work
My surgeon put 4 weeks on my disability papers! I'm hoping that I'll recover much faster of course, and be able to have some "me time" before heading back. I just want to make sure I'm comfortable in my own skin and with my new eating habits before returning.

Any Seductions On Exercise Monitors.
I love my body bugg!! I found a coupon online for 20% off, so it was under $100. You get 6 months of the management system with the order, then you have to pay (I think $80 for a year or $10/month if you go monthly).

Healing Time- With Removal Of Gallbladder- Diff.? Or No?
Great question! I'm anxious to find the answer too as my surgeon will be removing my gallbladder as well. I don't currently have issues with gallstones, but it's prevalent in my family, and if I can avoid that pain altogether, I'm in!!

Clear Liquids Sunday Monday Surgery
You can do this!!! Just make sure you have an approved drink at your side all the way to midnight If you haven't already, I recommend getting a bunch of different flavors of crystal light single service packets. This way you can switch it up quite a bit! If you're allowed sugar free jello or popsicles, chew a couple of those throughout the day!
