  1. I haven't posted in a while but thought I would since I'm getting my first fill tomorrow. I'm so glad too because I can't stop eating! I was banded on 12/12/11 and I did really well until it came time to eat soft foods. Of course that came right after Christmas and everyone was bringing all their left over goodies. I told myself along with the evil goodie doo-ers that I didnt care and that I didnt want them. Well that was a lie! Whenever someone would walk away, I would go over and grab something. What the heck? I felt like a drug addict! I was hiding the fact that I was eating this stuff! Wow, I tried to blame it on my "time of the month" Then the guilt would come. That is some horrible guilt. So... I'm glad that I'm going tomorrow for my fill. I feel like I have restriction at times but at other times, I can eat and eat and it doesn't affect me until hours later. It's weird. As of today I had lost 9lbs since the day I was banded. It goes up and down 3-4lbs a day, so time to stop weighing in and just do it when I go to my fill visits only. I thought it would be easier than this, but I guess I'm still trying to find what works for me and I know it takes time. I did fit into a size 14 pants today though! Nice and roomy! Plus everyone is saying how much thinner I look, it's some nice motivation, thats for sure :-)

    Ups And Downs

Hi, I know what you mean. I thought in the first two weeks after being banded that "omg, this is amazing, i'm never hungry!" but then I too started the "soft" stage and I dont know what happened, but I kept eating and eating and didnt feel anything. I know I'm not hungry but I guess if I dont feel like I'm bursting at the seams after eating, then I'm not full. I had dropped 12lbs after sugery and now i'm only at 7lbs. I know I'm not eating enough to gain that weight since you need to eat 3500 extra calories to gain a pound, but somehow it's happening. I think too I am not drinking enough water. Water is the one thing i have trouble with. every sip gets stuck for some weird reason. I did my first big walk yesterday, almost 4 miles on the beach. Its nice because you dont think you're exercising since you are looking at beautiful scenery. If you ever saw that infomercial "Brazil Butt Lift" I just ordered the CD's, it looks fun and something I can do inside when the gym gets too crazy with all the new years resolutions. My first fill is on Jan 10th, hope that helps! Good luck to you and I know we can do this!! =)
  3. Mine are on fire too, but I didnt have staples, just the little strips of gauze over them. I had my surgery on 12/12 and just the past few days they are driving me insane. I have all but one piece left on there, but I'm glad so I dont scratch off the parts that are trying to heal. I've heard it goes away, i just keep lotion and oil on there and it seems to help.

    12 Hours To Go.....

Good luck! I didnt sleep at all the night before, but you will have plenty of time to rest after!
  5. Hi, Disneyland has plenty of places to eat and not just there in the park. (if you mean actual disneyland in California) you can leave the park and go to downtown disney and there are even more places that you should be able to find a place easy enough to accommodate. California is big on healthy so I'm sure you will be just fine

Almost At 1 Week Post Op.. Few Day Short

You had staples? where? where your incisions are? I only have tape over mine. I had my surgery last Monday the 12th and I still have some pain where the band is. I have been trying to get out doing some xmas shopping but it ends up bothering me in the end so I end up going home. It's great for you that you are feeling good I keep going between losing 3-5lbs since surgery. Not sure why it goes up cause i'm not eating anything, still clear liquids and not even protein shakes, broths and teas. weird, but I guess it will all work out in the end. Good luck thru xmas and new years!
  7. Hello! I'm Nicole and I have been following these posts all week while laying here in bed and they are so inspirational! I had my band put on this past Monday, 12/12/11. I had checked in at 7am, sent into the OR at around 8:15 and out into recovery around 10:30, well at least that's when I came to. When I woke up I had the worst pain ever, for me, worse than childbirth! My chest was on fire, felt like a knife was shoved up under my breastbone and was never coming out. They were giving me drug after drug and nothing was helping. Once my Dr. came to check on me, he said that he had to fix a hernia he found. Well I guess that was part of the pain. I took my first walk, barely making it back to my chair before I had the urge to throw up. I never did, just (sorry for the grossness!) spitting a lot. I was able to leave just before 12pm and when I got home, the pain did not get any better. I was not comfortable sitting, standing, lying down, nothing! I couldn't believe the amount of pain I was in. I barely slept for the first 24 hours. But thankfully by Tuesday morning I was feeling better. I could get up and walk around the house without major issue. No hunger at all! It was such a nice feeling to not have a gnawing feeling going on. I'm now on day 4, well night 4 and I'm feeling pretty ok. I have the pain a little more in my chest again, but I think it's from drinking too fast. I've been walking and running light errands, just every once in a while I get that weird feeling like I had to burp, but the pain is intense and almost takes me to my knees. Hopefully this gets better! Sorry for the short novel! I'm looking forward to getting to know a lot of you and continue to be inspired and motivated. Thank you!! Nicole

    Just Over 2 Weeks Post-op

Wow, 16 days and you are eating food? I can't even move out of the clear liquid stage until the 27th and I had my surgery the past Monday the 12th. But when I am able to, I am going to enjoy every second! Just think, you will be the only one out of your friends to lose weight over the holidays! Good luck!
  9. Thank you for all the replies! I feel so much better today, just a little sore around the incisions, but that's it. Still not hungry which is so nice! I have become a tea junkie and constantly looking for new exciting ones. So far its Vanilla Chai, Coconut Vanilla and Gingerbread. So those and Miso soup are my staples. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
