Eating One Cup Of Food 2 Weeks Post-Op?

Post op almost any of the restriction you are feeling is from the surgery and swelling... so its expected the more you heal the more you'll be able to eat. I wasnt allowed to be eating soft food until 4 wks after surgery but i felt the same things ... you will get your first fill and it wont make much a diff, then your 2nd and you'll feel the band restriction and if you are lucky by 3 or 4 fills start to understand what works for you. it doesnt work over night ... dont sweat what you are feeling just stick to your docs plan and bug them if you are really concerned ... you are their customer

Band Being Replaced With The Sleeve?

Why go through that? How much more weight is there to lose wouldnt it be worth just trying to kick your own butt and lose whats left with out going through the cost. hassle, and risk of surgey?
  14. Hey gang! I got my 3rd fill today and I am feeling really tight! I know I only had it this morning but I didnt feel like this after my other 2 fills. I know I am supposed to feel greater restriction but after this fill this morning it feels awkward to drink Water and I could barely get down a bowl of Soup (just liquids today). Do I need to worry ? The doctor said to call him if I have trouble getting down liquids or feel uncomfortable after tmw ... is how I feel normal and I just need to give myself a day or 2 to get use to this? Or is this a sign of being "overfilled". I am still new at this so still learning!!! Thanks ahead of time for your feedback. Tips? Thoughts?
  15. So I was right! I was miserable last night -- i couldnt even keep down water. So i called the doc this am and they had me come over ... he confirmed def over fllled. Hardly anything was moving through the pouch ... he took out 1.00 cc and I feel much better already. Thank god last night was terrible!
  16. It sounds like it is till gas built up! The first couple of weeks after my surgery I was going crazy with the same type of lump in my throat feeling. My doctor said it was gas but it just didnt make sense to me that thats what it was so I was really worried and nervous Well let me tell you that he was right -- it took a month plus for me to be back to normal. It will subside I promise once you are all healed up you wont have the problem!

    Finally Feeling Some Restriction!

Glad I found this post! I was banded 12/14/11with a 10cc band and have had one fill so far of 2.8 cc's Like you I dont really feel any restriction and it has been kind of dishearting. I know the docs and everyone here keeps saying it takes time at least until the 2nd or 3rd fill to really start making a diff ... it just kinda makes you wonder until you get to that point! Glad to hear what I am feeling now while waiting for fill #2 isnt so odd and that its par for the course. I go for fill #2 on 3/12 so hopefully I will be that much closer to the greenzone (or at least a bit more restriction). For those of you who have been banded for a while and have made it to the "green zone" how many fills did it take you?
  18. Hi All ... so I am 5 weeks post op and going for my first fill next week. I had lost about 25 pounds from the date of the surgery till now. The first few weeks weight lost was pretty steady with the liquid diet and my appeitie being gone from the surgery itself. Since I have been able to eat soft and now most foods my appetitie is completely back to how it was pre op. I realize this is what everyone refers to as the "bandster hell" period but I actually gained a couple pounds in the soft and most food stage I am guessing that since I really have no restriction now and my frist fill is next week this is all normal ... but having my old appetitie back is scary! I just keep thinking what if the fill does help !!! Just look for some thoughts and reassurance that my world will change a bit next week with my fill!!! Thanks!
  19. Thanks for all the feed back it! Its great to hear that we either all went through or are going through the same thing. You really dont know what to expect no matter what you hear or read ... this board helps so much. Any case to respond to some stuff ... I have thrown up 1x since my surgery ... it was pretty uncomfortable. I learned my lesson that day since it was one of the first times I was allowed to eat real food. Even though I am back to "normal" eating I obviously still feel that food just sit there for a bit before it goes down the hole! I cant wait to find that green zone where it all works out. So I guess my concerns were unfounded and I am glad to know that. Dar i'll be sure to update you how my first fill goes on Monday! Thanks gain for the comments ... keep em coming the more the merrier! ps just curious about liquids ... after you guys have been filled and are this far out do you have any restricition when drinking?

    Feeling Weak

Just had the surgey on the 14th ... took me a good 5-7 days to start feeling back to normal. Even now almost 3ks past and I am feeling weaker from not being able to work out or do normal "engerizing" activities. it will get better just bare with it!
  21. I am now 14 days post op and its time to start mushies (slowly). I made it through today with cottage cheese, tuna fish and some mushed up Beans. After just those few things I am already starting to feel hungry again ... I made it through the first 2 wks perfectly on liquids. I am just worried that I am going to get to craving real food again too quick (already feel like I am) ! Any suggestions on "mushy" type foods that can take the place and take the edge of lol. I also started to notice that I dont feel much restriction as the bands not filled but I did feel a bit the first week and change as I guess I was healing.. Thoughts, Advice, Support!? Thanks!
  22. Good Luck Ellie ... I just had that band 14 days ago and feeling great. I am in the US so I cant give you any insight about Canada facilities! I would just suggested going with whomever you feel more comfortable with its a long journey and not just a one shot deal. If it means a few bucks more out of your pocket now to work with someone you like, its worth it in the long term. keep us posted!
  23. Lb4me....how much did you find yourself eating per meal?
  24. I am finding support is the key! Luckily my brother had the surgery more then 5 years ago so I can lean on him a bit. It made the process alot easier so far, it also made it easier when talking to my close friends and family about it. I figured since the ice was already broken with him, it was that much easier to just to be out and open about it. So far so good! feel free to PM me. I'd be glad to chat!
  25. Sherry, no I wasnt allowed any of that stuff on the liquid diet ... basically anything clear and that would be a liquid at room tempature per my doc! Load up on some more protein it will help!!!!
