  1. I would def say that it depends on what type of job you have. I have a desk job so it wasn't too bad for me. I had my surgery on Monday and took off that whole week but by Thursday I was feeling a whole lot better. If your job is physical, you should check with your Doc because I'm sure you would need more then a week. Lots of luck to you!!
  2. The good news is it should pass within a few days. I had mine done this past Monday and by Thurs. I was feeling 75% better and today prob 90%. Good luck with your new and improved life!!!!
  3. Sounds like you are doing awesome! I am newly banded too, as of this past Monday. I am feeling pretty good all around and have dropped almost 13 lbs all together.
  4. Good luck on your trip home. I wouldn't say that I feel hungry exactly but maybe empty at times. That is when I do a shake or soup or something a little filling. I have lost 8 lbs since Monday so that always makes the pain a little easier to take! Good Luck!!
  5. I had mine done on Monday and today was the day I really felt good. Still a bit sore, wouldn't want to be hit in the stomach or anything like that but the pain is much better from the last 3 days. It does get better
  6. Just had my first surgery ever too 4 days ago. I was scared about not waking up too and all the other big "what ifs". But I'm here to say you literally close your eyes for what seems like a minute and then you wake up and it's done. The biggest surprise, for me there was not much pain at all. Everyone is different but the my stomach where the incisions are was the sorest Monday and Tuesday but starting yesterday I noticed a huge difference. No unbearable gas pains or nausea, which I was really scared about too. I'm eating when I feel just a little hungry and it doesnt take alot to fill full. The best news of all, I have lost almost 5 lbs since Monday
  7. Had my surgery on Monday and came home on Tuesday. Everything went very well, was off all pain meds by 11:00 pm night of surgery. The gas pains have been minimal for me (knock on wood) and have been eating (drinking, lol) without nausea. Stomach still a bit sore, kind of like I've done a thousand crunches and where the port is placed is the sorest but nothing that bad at all. I actually scheduled off the whole week from work but I may surprise everyone and go in on Friday. I know everyone is different but to me it has not been too bad at all.
  8. Thanks for your information and well wishes!!
  9. Sounds like you are doing great!! Thanks for all your help!
  10. My surgery is tomorrow morning so I'm really excited and a little nervous. The Doc said he is going to keep me overnight and then do the upper GI that morning to make sure everything is flowing right. Did you do yours that quickly? and if you did, how hard was it to swallow that barium? I'm afraid I'm going to get sick from it : (
  11. We will be having surgery on the same day!! I too have been having alot of "what if" thoughts but my biggest motivation is my 2 1/2 year old son. I will be 41 in May and if I don't do something about my weight I won't be here to see him through life. Plus just from reading alot of the posts on here the last few months, it sounds like 95% of the people love the band. It won't be easy but we can do this!!!
  12. I go in on Jan. 23 so just starting to do the"what ifs" . I'm excited but kind of scared of the unkown, I'm just praying that it is better than the known : )
  13. Surgery scheduled for Jan. 23, so I am starting to get a little nervous. Thanks for your post, it makes me feel better! Glad you are doing well and I hope you continue to do so!
  14. Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone on here would have any idea what the cost of lapband surgery in WV would cost? I live in Morgantown, WV and recently went to a seminar held by Dr. Akkary from Preston Memorial. My crazy insurance will not pay so I am looking into finacing the cost. Just wanted to see if anyone may have an estimate for me. Thanks
