Warning- Don't Try Chocolate! And Other Useful Tips
I remember when I first started coming here. You know, the pre-sleeve days! There was so much good information and support. So, I want to contribute this to NEW or UNDECIDED sleevers...WARNINGS! Things we wish we had known before they happened. Mine? WARNING- DO NOT EAT A TWIX ...like I did a few weeks ago. As my surgeon has confirmed...chocolate (not the skinny cow kind...the REAL REAL kind) is an irritant. The sugar and caffeine aren't good for your sleeve. I was sick with a migraine, nausea, and stomach cramps for 2 days! What's your WARNING?

I Hate Me, I Hate Me , Ihate Me, Ihate Me
Child, BREATHE! Relax...it's okay. First...DON'T HATE YOU! God created you and he don't make no junk! Second... Think about before you were sleeved...if that's what you ate in one day, you'd be like "Dang, I hardly ate today!" It's okay. Nobody expects you to be perfectly strict with yourself to where your living like an obsessed maniac (and the repetitive negative self speak and inner monologue is our red flag). So now, just stop and breathe and remember; 1- your NOT on a diet- you are living a healthy lifestyle complete with healthy eating choices and a realistic and healthy self image. 2- you are making progress and growing. Anything that's not growing is dead. Your fully alive, which means sometimes your going to put things in your mouth you may regret later...and that's okay! You will continue to do your best to do #1. 3- The sleeve is only a tool. You also have exercise, prayer and meditation, supportive community (VST!), and mostly ENOUGH LOVE FOR YOUR LIFE THAT YOU DID SOMETHING SO THAT YOU COULD LIVE IT IN A QUALITY MANNER... So no more hating out of you, young lady!

5 Weeks Out--Fatigue And "water Nausea"
I actually had a follow up appointment yesterday and was told that the "water nausea" would come and go. The surgeon advised that I should just drink crystal light and unsweetened decaf tea.

It's A Challenge, But I'm Happy!
Ok...once UNEXPECTED challenge is having to actually be accountable for what you are putting in your body. It used to be, eat it, feel guilty, then forget it. Now if I eat something bad...IT HURTS ME. Like not just a full feeling and throwing up, but feeling lethargic, gassy, acidy, and having non stop hiccups for like an hour. So, it makes you mind what you eat and pay for not doing right. There are some things that , even if I am having a super craving for them, I just stay away from (the worst is BREAD!!!).

It's A Challenge, But I'm Happy!
The hardest was, and is, head hunger. Its not that hard to exercise because you can feel how good those endorphin's work with your mood. Its not hard to eat small amounts because if you eat more you throw it up. Its not THAT hard to not have soda because once you try it (and you will try it once) it hurts like the dickens. So, dealing with the fact that they took your tummy, not your taste buds, is the hardest. Sometimes seeing or smelling something, nostalgia, hormones, and all kinds of triggers can make you want something you just shouldn't or CAN NOT have. What I learned to do is to have a nibble (and I mean a really tiny nibble) of whatever I want (within reason) and let it sit in my mouth...and just sit there tasting it for a while. Of course, that only works with things like Cookies or kool-aid. If I am craving tacos, I usually just go for spicy cheese. I can go on and on but I'm just saying that you figure out strategies and do your best to work your sleeve.

It's A Challenge, But I'm Happy!
So, this journey is challenging. There are the physical challenges and mental ones. But through it all, I am very happy. I feel like I can see myself changing for the better. Not just in the mirror but everyday in the way I think about like. I am able to push myself more, able to do more, able to see a brighter future. Thanks for all your support...I will probably complain to ya tomorrow. But, for now, I am very HAPPY!

To Eat Or To Drink...that Is The Question
I had my sleeve done on 12/26/11. I am sure I should have more Cal's but not really fitting them in. Thanks for all the feed back. I am not doing great this weekend because I have been so nauseated by food. Drinking more water ...more to come.

To Eat Or To Drink...that Is The Question
Just my luck...as I set a real goal...my loss slows down to a mere 2 lbs in one week. I am reading and everyone seems to say drink more. The other posts say to eat more protein. The problem is, I can't possibly do both. Either I can drink or I can eat. Rarely do I do both within hours of the other. I can drink all day long. Then, when I eat, I am nauseated. Which makes me not want to eat...so I drink. I am trying to lose 25 more pounds before March 13th. I want to have lost over 75lbs by my doctors appointment. I exercise daily and drink lots of water. I average 300 calories daily, but don't always keep it down. If you guys have any ideas, I am all ears (eyes lol). Oh, and I am usually nauseated or having heart burn so I don't eat certain foods...mostly meat and protein bars.

7 Days Post Op With Stuck Feeling In Throat
It's going to be like that for a while...its "full". Doesn't take much to get there at the point your at. I still feel that way when I eat that last bite. I am a month and 1/2 out about. Your swollen insides can't hold much and don't have much motility. It sounds normal to me but listen to your body. And always contact your surgeon if your concerned.

Scared To Step On The Scale!
Just a thought- If you feel apprehensive about getting on the scale...then DON'T get on the dang scale. I mean, you don't HAVE to. Just continue to make healthy choices and live an active lifestyle. Enjoy your life.

I Guess I Should Introduce Myself...
Welcome, Get ready for things to change...outwardly first...and stay that way. But, be ready to change your mind. If there I one thing I can tell you as advice it is this; my mind is still catching up to my body changing. Please remember that as you start consistently making healthy choices and living an active lifestyle, do not neglect to have some sort of spiritual grounding that helps you meditate on being the real and whole person you are. I pray and meditate a lot. It helps because we are so used to living life based on weight. It is hard to think "who am I, what do I like, what are my goals" and not answer based on that old overweight or obese mindset. At first I was like "My goal is to lose weight" and now I can say "My goal is to be healthy and enjoy my life" At first, I was skeptical about saying what I like because (example) riding roller coasters wasn't something I could actually "DO". But now...I am working on changing my mind about me. That's what this sleeve thing is. Sure, it is a second chance to lose weight and keep it off...but mostly its a chance to be yourself and know and love who that is without the harness of weight on your back... Anyways...WELCOME! :cornut:

And?
GIRLLL that sukka was good! BUT- then I had a tummy ache lol. The thing is, I don't want to be tripping over the dang thing all day long or tripping over trying NOT to trip over it all day...so I just bit it a few times. Then my sleeve reminded my WHY I don't eat sugary foods. THAT was the coolest part!

And?
It' s VALENTINE'S DAY. Big romantic deal. My hubby is sweet and all...but someone brought these cupcakes to work...and they looked REAL good... Here's the deal; I have been sleeved and have changed my life. I live an active lifestyle and make healthy eating choices. I exercise regularly and take vitamins and drink water. I live a healthy life now... That being said; it is VERY unhealthy to sit and obsess over a little ball of dough and some icing...and sprinkles. So I ate half a cup cake...AND?
