  1. I have never had a problem with it and im 6 months out, i dont eat alot of it but what i have had ive never had an issue with
  2. Im 5 months out and have been getting headaches and now migraines all of the sudden. Went to my pc and told me it has to do with my weight loss and that when im at goal and stop losing i should even out in that field. Anyone else experience this as well??
  3. I am three months out of surgery as of yesterday. I was telling my friend at the gym last night that i just thought i would have lost more weight by now but i have not. I really dont know what to expect. I know the weight didnt go on overnight so i know its not coming off overnight either. Since the day of surgery to today I have lost 34 pounds. When i say it, it doesnt seem like alot. But if you think about it, its about 11 pounds a month, 2.5 or so pounds a week, which is healthy. I look at other forums and see people losing more weight quicker, but i realize everyone is different and i know the heavier you are the faster it will drop. Im down 2 pant sizes and over 50lbs lost from my heaviest weight. I think i just need words of encouragment... I dont know what the normal amount of loss is. I know they say you should be at goal by 1 year but i dont see that happening... Also i cant get the protein drinks to go down. It just grosses me out. I need tips... I dont want my hair to fall out... HELP !!

    How Successful Was Your Surgery?

I am about 2.5 months out Sleeved on Nov 28, 2011 and i must be a slow loser, ive lost a total of 50 pounds pre-op diet and down 32 pounds since surgery. Even thou I feel as if im a slow loser I would rather lose it slow then not at all. I love my sleeve. Have gone from a BMI of 47 down to 35 and im working out at the gym a few times a week. I would make this choice again anyday!!
  5. I am a little over 2 months out about 9 weeks and im a slow loser. Since surgery i have only lost 26 pounds. Total since my highest weight I am down 45 pounds. I am eating whatever I want now. I eat Sushi, california rolls usually and am only able to eat about 4 pieces. I also eat bread and Pasta and rice and all the other things they said not to. I just eat it when i have no choice or very little of it. I have never thrown up, ever. I am pretty sure I dont get enough Protein. I also forget to take my chewable Vitamin daily too. I have had one blood test so far and so far so good. I have not lost hair but I heard it takes about 4 months. I eat slower then i use to but prob not slow enough. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and have started running too. It feels great. I love my sleeve. I also just started drinking a tiny bit this past week, my drink of choice is a glass of Moscato wine, i have had no issues, and it does only take a little bit to feel it. I find that i have to wait at least 1 hour after i eat to drink some Water, any sooner then that i feel it and it hurts for a minute. Over all, i am loving my new life. I love that people can start to tell the difference. I like how it makes me feel. I love that my pants are too big and i love that i just got rid of 2 trash bags of clothes that i will never fit into again. Every 10 pounds that i lose, i say to myself, i will never be 250 again, i will never be 240 again, i will never be 230 again, and so on. I
  6. I was sleeved on Nov 28th and I am done 12 pounds from the day of surgery. I have been sitting on this 12 pounds for about a week and a half and its annoying, but as i have heard its just a stall.... I have not been drinking protein shakes cause it makes me want to gag but i am eating salmon and chicken and chewing really good. I feel great. I just went to my PCP and got blood drawn and they called me today and said its all good.... So far I feel amazing, im off work til Jan 3rd and i have been walking and been active every day, all my shopping, meeting my friends, running errands, etc. I just wish I wasnt so bummed about only losing 12 pounds since surgery....
  7. Im on week 2 of puree / mushie stage and have about another week or two and I love it !! I couldnt wait to start eating food and not having to drink my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat mashed potatoes, stuffing, salmon, chicken and soup, i just chew really good when i do eat chicken. I have never measured my food, i just put a scoop or two in a small bowl and when im full i stop eating.... The hardest part for me is not being able to drink for 30 min after my meal.... I also love to diet pepsi and carbonated water and I have been putting some in a glass and stir it for a minute or two and then its nice and flat. I drink a couple of sips and its like a snack. Good luck !!
  8. Im almost 3 weeks post op and started mushie foods last Sunday and so far i have gained 3 pounds !!! I dont get it.... I drink plenty of water and am only eating a handful of things like mashed potatoes, etc... I have also been very active, been to the mall like 5 times this week and have walked it for hours !! I have heard of the 3 week stall but now im gaining. For a week or so i was sitting at the same weight but now I am gaining.... Im getting so frustrated, should I go back to liquid? Or is this normal? Im so afraid of this not working, its bringing me to tears.... Please help !!
  9. I am 17 days post op and i have hit a stall. I started mushy food on Sunday and have only lost 1 pound in 5 days !!! Since surgery I have lost 13 pounds. I thought it would be more and im getting a little frustrated. I keep hearing people tell me about the 3 week stall but i dont get it. I am not eating fatting food, i am only eating 3 meals and its low calories... Im hoping this is just a phase and that i start losing more soon.....

    October 2011 - Highest weight ever 255...
  11. I am 16 days post - op and i havent lost a pound for a week !!! I too am getting frustrated. I know it will pass but your not alone, I feel the same way. I finally lost a pound from yesterday morning to this morning. I am losing inches, i can feel that. I keep reading about people not liking the puree / mushy food stage and i have to admit that I love it !!! I have mashed potatoes, stuffing, tuna, chicken, egg whites with cheese, beans, etc... I mean the liquid stuff for 2 weeks killed me. One thing is that im not drinking protein drinks. I cant do it. Grosses me out.... Is this really bad??
  12. 15. Wow what i would do to eat cheese right now !!! My "list" does not include cheese or beans til next week, the 3-5 week diet. That crepe recipe sounds so amazing its making my mouth water. I cannot wait to have that next week. Im so over the liquid part of this.... Im not hungry im just not "full" i guess.... maybe its just my old ways talking.... thanks again... i look forward

  17. Congrats on your Surgery and how well it went. I also had my surgery on Monday the 28th and i feel amazing, slight lightheaded after being active for awhile but other then that, im golden....
  18. jasleeve - you know your right, I have read stuff where people didnt have drains and it was all good... i wonder why some do and some dont? Well thanks for the insight, now i wont wonder why i had a different experience... and thanks i will keep people posted, its always nice to see how much weight people lose and how happy things are !!
  19. I was sleeved this past monday and i did not have the same experience as everyone else on here. I got mine done at UCLA and was there 2 nights (standard time) my surgery was at 7:30 and had to be there at 4:45. Got there checked in, took me upstairs, weighted me, put my ID braclette on my wrist and ankle. Took me to a room changed my clothes, did a pregnancy test, asked me a bunch of questions, gave me an anti clotting medication. Anesthesiologist came by (which she called me the night before to intrude herself and to make sure not to drink after midnight) the surgeon came by with his team, told my husband he would get a pager and once the surgery was over they would page him and let him know. I said my good byes, told my husband to make sure he told my 2 year old son how much i loved him everyday if things didnt go well (paranoid side of me) they gave me a shot of something (and it was nice) took me to the OR started to do stuff she then tells me they are just doing some stuff before she puts me to sleep and bam, i wake up in recovery staring at the clock which was 10:35 btw. Nobody was talking to me, i just woke up and saw all the crazy people running around doing their job. I do recall waking up and taking a deep breath and it hurting !!! I thought to myself OMG they did it.... then i thought i was dreaming... I dont remember going to my room but whatever i was there, my husband was there and i made it out of surgery. I had a drain placed in my stomach and when i complained to my surgeon that it hurt when i tried to breath in deep he told me that it was normal and once i got the drain out 2 days later it would be better. I napped on and off, had a IV pain meds that i could push every 6 minutes, didnt seem to do much. They had me up and walking about 6 hours after surgery, and then every 4 hours, took my vitals every 3 or so, everytime i would fall asleep the oxygen level and heart rate would go down and the monitor would beep (drove me CRAZY) they had to give me oxygen and turn the monitor volume down so i wouldnt wake. They also took blood at 3 a.m both nights, wtf? I dont get it but whatever. 2 night stay, 3 days later, took the drain out, hurt really bad but was fast. Discharged, 405 freeway about 45 minute ride home on the worst LA freeway there is and finally home. Was able to sleep in my own bed, on my right side and had the best sleep ever, never even had pain meds. Woke up today feeling amazing..... I guess everyone has a different experience with different surgeons and hospitals but personally would not of felt comfortable going home the same day or the next for that matter, only cause they do keep a good eye on you. Hope all these experiences help let you know what you will be in for. No matter how many times i read and read about what to expect its def much different when your actually doing it yourself.... Best of luck !!
