You can call and get a call back from dr. Kelly, I have yet to meet Trish but to my knowledge she is one of his main coordinators. I am just 1 hour away from surgery myself!

I met a lady who just had 6 weeks from booking until her surgery. I imagine that you would just need enough time for the pre-op diet, and to pay. The pre-op diet is a maximum of 2 weeks to my knowledge. I would simply call and ask.

I'm getting sleeved tomorrow by dr. Kelly and I am SOOO excited, Mexico is just fine. Congrats, you have less than a month! I have heard great things about Dr. Aceves, and his credentials speak for themselves.

I'm here in the florence Hospital getting sleeved TOMORROW my BMI is currently 30, I have been training 4x a week and running daily since august when I booked the surgery. I was told I was actually encouraged to lose what weight I reasonably could before surgery, as it's about your starting BMI. 32 may be low for obesity, but I doubt that would disqualify you at all. I was 32-33 when I called dr. Kelly and it was no issue.

Shellnsons is here! She's doing great, we were just talking. She's made me feel so at ease, it's so great to hang out with someone who has already gone through the surgery just a day ago. I am really excited, I can't wait.

I'm sitting here alone in my room at florence Hospital, a female dr. came in and did my paperwork, and they brought me a "meal" of broth, Jello, tea and some really nice tart apple juice. I got my mom a room a the Lucerna for two nights prior, I had asked my coordinator to set it up when I booked but I guess there was no reservation made- no prob though, Ricardo and I stopped by and they had space and gave me a special rate. I love my mom, but I knew I wanted some alone time before surgery. Theyre bringing her by tomorrow before surgery. Everything has gone just fine, everyone has been pleasant...I feel a bit lonely, I'm slightly anxious and just pray everything goes well. ...just as I type this, dr. Kelly payed me a personal visit! He was so calming, but not in an intentional "calm down" way, he was just so helpful and truly wanted to answer my questions. He was extremely sweet, I feel very at peace now. I am confident that things will go as well as they can.

Oh I might get to see you! Glad you are doing ok, and they are taking care of you in your rougher recovery. It's been a while since I've had surgery, but I used to handle it well. Ive never had bariatric surgery, so this will go as good as it will. I'm excited, nervous, and just want it done already

It's finally feeling real (I say as I am starvvvving while sipping Gatorade walking around)! I am getting picked up Sunday afternoon, my mom will be with me. I have been working intensely with a fitness trainer 4x a week since august, doing daily cardio, watching my diet to get in the best shape possible (and it's worked, I haven't been this light in 8 YEARS!). I am bringing my mom, who has an eating disorder (but the other way around, she is anorexic) and I am fearful of what they may think when I walk in with her, especially since I've got as small as I can on my own. Maybe i am just being silly... I'm kind of "with blinders on" until the actual surgery is over, once I know I'm alive (silly but true!) and I'm conscious and walking off the gas, I feel like I can exhale. I'll be posting as soon as I'm conscious with photos (if they let me take them). I am so joyous to think I will get to be as healthy as I possibly can with my weight for life. I've always had a hard time with keeping a healthy relationship with food, not obsessing, but it's been hard. I've been overweight since I was 5, I just can't wait to finally take control.

I wasn't aware going through a coordinator costs more than directly booking the surgery with the surgeons office?! :0 I hope not, I am seeing dr. Kelly on Monday morning (November 7th), when I called alighterme I was already "sold" on Dr. Kellys track record and needed little hand holding.

I have 2 nurses in my family and considered it once, but I wasn't up to the tough work- nursing is a very tough career and it's not for everyone, I don't think most dr.s could do it! I despise the assumption that being a nurse is somehow lesser than a dr.- nurses do and know a whole lot no MD does, and they honestly are Hsiang the most helpful to patients. That said, I adore plenty of dr.s too!

THANK YOU fat rat! What an asset you are to us as a helpful nurse, you've helped me quite a bit. The cold has been manageable with the vitamin c!

Thats encouraging! I hope I feel better, but if not liquid medicine will be my best friend. I am mostly concerned my surgery will be safe if I'm totally sick, I wonder if mucus would affect things or just my illness in general. I guess I'll have to just pray and see.

My husband has been a sick mess all week, and though I've tried to avoid catching his cold, it's become CLEAR I have it. I CANNOT reschedule my surgery, I pulled major strings to get this time off. Will I still be able to safely? I know dr. Kelly is VERY thorough with his safety precautions. I do not want to call and have them insist I reschedule. I only feel a bit light headed, but I'm fairly stuffed up. Anyone experience surgery during a moderate cold?

I am being sleeved by Dr. Kelly on the 7th I can't wait, and I know we are all in good hands. How lovely that they have you a room with your own private bath room and provide you with more pre op food! I was planning on packing Jello Snacks and a thermos of broth

It's so uplifting and reassuring to read all these responses of people who were so happy with their Dr. Kelly experience that they are willing to speak to my husband. He has calmed down quite a bit, and has been more focussed on the fact that I'm so happy the date is approaching. He is worried, but a bit more about finances. Let us know, I am curious as well. I have a VSG practice near me that will do follow up exams and address complications from another MD (even another country), but they do not take insurance.

This is great to hear from everyone- perhaps I'll have him look at this thread. I found several doctors in southern CA that perform VSG, but none of them have as much experience in VSG as Dr. Kelly, nor do they seem as thorough with pre- diets, after care (some just send you home!). Carrie- how was your surgery, did you go yet?

That's good to hear about the gum! I was fearful the ingredients would somehow be abrasive or irritating, but considering dentyne fire is fairly intense, I'm not too worried. My thyroid pills are small and taste slightly sweet- I could easily chew them if need be. I've had times where I've ran out of my thyroid meds, and substituted with supplements- very bad idea. I know I won't be ok without them, so I'm glad crushing will be an option. Sorry to hear about the pneumonia, I hope you're ok now and recovering well.

Good to hear Kelly! Youre always quite helpful. I was concerned the menthol or peppermint oil could be a tissue irritant (like alcohol) and therefore possibly not allowed.
