I'm not an old patient of his, I'm a current one...I was just banded Nov 18th and it has really be a great experience! The entire experience has been great. They really work with you and were able to squeeze me in for surgery since I was having an insurance change soon. I love it so far, had a very uncomplicated surgery and recovery, and would highly recommend him.

Is the 5% requirement from the doctor or your insurance?

My process was similar to yours...I went to the seminar on Oct 13 and am being banded Nov 18th! I think it's unusual for it to be so quick, especially with insurance (I even have an ***!) since I've seen a lot that have to go through 3 or 6 month monitored diets, various appeals, etc. I count myself lucky and am very grateful for this opportunity!

I'm up at 1000 calories (wt 305) and especially the first few days walking really helped, and it's getting easier and easier, plus a habit I'll need to be in post-op! I can't imagine 500 calories though! How long is the pre-op diet?

I figure I should jump right in! I'm getting banded this month so I'll have to try to get in some extra miles before the actually surgery! Do you guys count only miles that are specifically "exercise" or do you count the entire day's worth, like from a pedometer?

I just got my date today...Nov 18! I go back for my final appointment, classes, etc on the 7th. It's been a quick process since I started, but long overdue. I'm so excited for this change!

Thanks for the welcome! The PA said the band should work really well for me and I just need to loose 10 lbs before surgery! Now we are just waiting for the lab results before setting my surgery date!

I finally joined today after lurking for a while! I just found out this week that I was approved for the lap band It's been a quick journey since I decided to start, 9/27 I got the referral from my PCP to the surgeon 10/13 I went to the "seminar" which was actually a one-on-one because no one else showed and then they submitted my packet for approval Then just two days ago (yes, 5 days after the seminar!) I got word that the surgery had be approved! I have my first actual appointment with the surgeon today and will hopefully get a surgery date! It's happening so fast which really makes me excited! I thought for sure after reading so many stories on here that it would be a long process, potentially with a supervised diet since I have BS CA *** but I actually have a copy of the the surgery approval in my hands! Unreal! I can't wait for this to happen! Cassie
