  1. Thanks everyone for your advice and concern. I am eating such little calories because thats all I can manage to get down. Broth and Jello and such things only add up to so much. I knew vomitting could lead to band slips but my doctor lead me to believe this was very unlikely and only really happened from overeating and and vomitting as a result. And overeating is definately not my concern. Its almost 6 pm and I'v only managed to sip some juice today. So todays caloric intake willbe under 300 I'm sure (its a bad day) I also dont vomit just thinking of food, what I meant was when I need to vomit I just do, I dont even need to push or force food to come up if its stuck anymore. Trust me lol I am desperate for a nice solid piece of food. Thanks Kinley 7390. Thats what I meant by my question... I was worried my brain would start some weird unhealthy connection to food. It's just crazy. This is why I opted for the band because I wanted to lose the weight in a slow and healthy manor. I was always comfortable with my body. Even being overweight I am big boned and was tall and proportioned well so when I got into the 290s I was borderline diabetic, BP was up and I suffer from major back problems so being unhealthy pushed me to get the surgery, it wasn't about getting skinny for me just being healthy. I feel like my relationship with food is more unhealthy now then it ever was before the band. I feel like it was the worst decision I ever made. I either went thru all of this for nothing or I can starve and cant get any food down and lose weight. It just doesnt feel like it was worth it to me. But thank you everyone again for your encouragement. I will continue to come here for support and will becalling my surgeon ASAP. Maybe a half cc less will do the trick :-)
  2. I got the lap band a year ago and lost about 15 to 20 lbs. Then nothing. I could still eat pretty much whatever even though it was smaller portions and somettimes I'd get stuck in the morning and vomit. I just had my 3rd fill about 9 days ago and am at 8cc"s. Most of the time I can't eat anything. Even drinks come back up in the morning or middle of the night. If I am thirsty I dare not chug. Just sip and deal with it. I have lost between 5 and 7 pounds my concern is that vomitting has become a regular part of my daily routine. All I have to do is think about it and I throw up. And if something gets stuck even after i get it up my gag refluxes still have me barfing away. Its so common I keep a large plastic cup with me at all times. My poor kids can't stand it and I don't want them to think this is normal nor do I want to scare them. One sip of juice or 1 bight of grits often turns into 16 oz of fluids that I'v thrown up over an hr. I dont even know where it comes from because I'v only had 1 little sip! It seems like for the most part if I avoid all foods even watered down grits or mashed potatoes in the first half of the day and I just sip on coffee or a protien shake that in the second half of the day and dinner time my options expand. I can actually eat dinner with my family so long as I chew well and slowly. Last night I had a small bowl of baked chicken and rice. Im at 300 to 500 calories a day usually. Im worried my brains association to food is starting to mean vomit and while losing weight is wonderful I dont wanna be bolemic! Can anyone help me out here? I dont want an adjustment either because I lost nothing at 7 cc's. Has anyone else experienced any of this?
  3. I had my band oct 10th. Lost 16 pounds in first week on clear liquids. As soon as I started full liquids I started gaining it back. I dont get it! Iv only consumed 4 oz at a time. Eat slowly the whole 9time and iv gained like 5 pounds back! How is that possible when my caloric intake is still so low!?
  4. TY. And no. My water intake isn't that great. Iv never been a drinker. Im working on that aspect. And I just started incorperating excersize. I played kickball w my kids on sat. Trying to start a gym membership. I pray these things will work. If I went thru this for nothing it would devistate me. Any tips on nutritional but tasty things I can puree?
  5. I had my surgery Monday morning, columbus day. Its late sat night. I was told not to go to full liquids until I see my doc for my follow up tues morn. That's 8 full days of broth and jello. Im starving and very weak and shaky. Its been 6 full fays now and I see others on here are on full liquids and even some puree after 4 days! Iv lost 16 pounds but I don't know if I can do this 2 more days.

Iv seen alot of negatives too but I honestly don't think that's the norm. A girl I went to highschool with had hers 4 yrs ago to the day of my band and one year later she looked awesome! Had lost like 130 lbs and still keeps it off and then some. She has been an inspiration.
  8. I had my band oct 10th and I have no idea where my port area is. Others are saying it hurts. I feel nothing. I still have all my bandages on. 5 of them. Can you see it? Do they just stick a needle in to do fills?

This is such a great site. My aunt told me about it last night and iv been on here more then facebook. Its so amazing the differences in everyones experiences but feels good to see the similarities. My band was Oct 10th and iv lost aprox 15 lbs. My doc seems to do things differently then others. Iv been on clear liquids for 7the days now and was told not to start on full till I see h im in 2 days.. I gave in today and drank a few oz of a protien shake cuz im so shakey. It helped. Im calling tomorow to ask if I can please start at least drrinking my protien shakes.

    Is my postop pain normal??

I was in a lot of pain for the first 2/3 days. I am on 7th day post op. I found taking the restrictive wrap off helped me. I was so naseus I was dry heaving. Also I took baths. I layed in the bath with my belly up and out of the water and made sure my inscissions stayed dry. The water really soothed my pain. 2nd n 3rd day I took one every 3 hours just to get the relief. I feel your pain. I had my gall bladder out 2 yrs ago and every one said oh ul be fine in 2 days. It took me 3 weeks to recover fully. Every1 is different. Ppl who took pain meds b4 surgery have worse pain after also I don't know if that's ur case. Im 7 days post op and still get pain in my chest and left shoulder from the gas. Everyday gets better. Just hang in there.

    Do you regret it?

Honey, you can still have lost your crab legs and cake! You may not eat as much of it. You my have to eat your crablegs and wait 2 hours then have your cake. Have you tried weight watchers? I think that would be great for you. If you eat healthy you can still reward yourself once a week or however often but the band will keep you from pigging out. If you have a meal you are really enjoying and you get full you can put it down and come back to it in a few hours. Im on my 7th day post op and sure iv craved cheese steaks and cheese cakes but iv lost 16 pounds! As far as you not having the health issues honey they are literally around the corner. I am 33. At 27 I said the same thing. Within the last year bam! Diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic back pain. Lap band may not be right for you, weight watchers is. Most restaurants now days have a few selections on their menus that support that diet. My mom did it over 20a yrs ago and went from 220 to 140 and has been that ever since! I hope it works out for you.
  18. Try not to think of it as surgery. I kept telling myself its a 45 min procedure! You should go home a few hours later.
