Had my surgery yesterday, no major pain, up and walking and feeling pretty good!

    Any january surgery out there

My surgery is 48 hours away and I am all of a sudden scared to death. My stomach is in knots ( but that very well could be hu nger!) I am sooo nervous. It has taken so long and I have gone through a lot to get this. I spent so much time jumping through hoops to have the surgery, I guess just waiting for the day to come is making me a little anxious. Please pray for me!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I haven't been sleeved yet ( my day is the 16th) and I have already had to reevaluate some of my so-called friendships. Some people have some really crazy stuff to say about my surgery. I have lost 50 lbs preop and some people have not been nearly as supportive as I thought they would be. But then there are some folks who have really had my back, had encouraging things to say and been a great support. Like everything else in your life, you are going to have to let go of who you thought was for you and choose true, real friendships. It's ok. Bound to happen. Whenever you make radical change in one area, it shifts everything else around it. Just keep your head up, be proud of who you are and the change you have decided to make, and when you look around, the people that are meant to be with you will be. The ones that aren't won't be- just like all your other excess weight!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

God, I pray for my sister. We thank you for a successful surgery tomorrow and that you are with her throughout this process. Guide the hands of the doctors and minister to the nurses and staff as they perform their duties. We thank you, Father, for speedy recovery and that there will be no pneumonia or any other complications. We thank you that you make all things new. In your name we pray, amen.

We're buddies- I'm on the 16th too! I have been on preop diet for a week now, it gets easier after day 3 or 4, so hang in there. Congrats on your surgery, I pray all goes well for you

STARVING on Preop diet, day 3

You were right! The last day or so has been much easier! No more headaches and the cravings are gone too. I had my preop at the hospital 2 days ago, so everything is really sinking in. Thanks for the encouragement! 11 days and counting- see you on the loser's bench!
  13. I hope I didn't screw up too bad - I was hungry at work after my 2 protein shakes and lean cuisine entree (my one reasonable meal for today), so I ate 3 celery sticks and 2 tbsp of hummus. I don't think I did too badly with that, especially since at one point in the day I was holding a bag of Cheetos AND a pack of Oreos, but can someone please give me some feedback about the preop diets? I still have 9 days to go. I know it will get better in a little bit, but the last couple of days have been rough. Can someone please give me an idea of what you are doing for your preop diet?

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Just got back from my preop appointment, met with surgeon and anesthesiologist. This is it! I'm a little nervous. I can't think too long about it, or I freak out. I am so grateful for this forum because there is no support group close to home for me, so reading these posts and seeing pic have kept me motivated and moving forward through this process and keeping me from losing what little mind I have left! Anyway, the time winding up, Jan 16 is my re-birthday!

your last meal before pre op ?!

Because of the holidays, I had a few "last meals", but the best was a steak and lobster dinner with a crab cocktail appetizer, creme brulee for desert, and 2 blueberry mojitos, which I ate the night before I started my preop. Sigh! It was FABULOUS!

    nectar protein shakes

Yes, I like all the fruity flavors, but especially the cherry and the crystal sky ( kind of like a fruit punch). I been have sampling these through my period and they are great if you don't want a thick heavy shake. Try the website "my bariatric pantry", they seem to always have the Nectar sampler pack available.

  19. I found this website that has a protein shake mix that also has all the vitamins and supplements post op clients are supposed to have. The brand is Celebrate END. I sent the link to my NUT, but she hasn't responded yet. Does have any experience taking this?

Support help, some members found out =(

It takes courage to make the decison to have wls. People who don't know what you go through will never have any idea of what it takes to make the decision and go through the process of losing weight by vsg. Find yourself a small group to support you on your journey, people who will help you work out your challenges and celebrate your victories. As for anyone who is not supportive, I wouldn't even talk about the subject with them. If they bring it up, don't get upset-just say you don't wish to discuss it change the subject or walk away. I have a core group of people, including my husband and a couple of good friends, who have walked with me through my pre op process. I haven't told my own parents because I know it will cause a problem. You have to do what is good for you, because no one has to live this but you. Blessings and peace to you on your journey.
