  1. It also does not say how much more dangerous a surgery it is. There is no way someone is going to cut me up and reroute my organs. So I can never obsorb nuetrients norally. What happens when the stomach expands during by pass. If by pass was the answer why do so many by pass patients have the band placed after their by pass surgery? If one is going to report about a subject get it all correct. Give out all the information. Go Banders.
  2. Wow you are doing this with a hubby and four children. Way to go. I think with the weight gone you will have more energy to give to your family. Keep up the good work l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. You are doing good and letting the band work for you. This journey is sometimes hard. Keep your eye on the prize. Decide you want to be thin rather than want the bad food and be fat, Remember to just say no, One of ny favorite sayings is "From a sliver, to a slice, to a slab, to a slob."
  4. Your attitude is half the battle. SO call it stupid and convince yourself you are bored and you are half way there to making the band fail for yourself. The over induldgeing got us to be where we are today. You had all the food you wanted to in the past. Turn over a new leaf. Find recipies within the diet. Do everything your physicam wants you to do. Stick to it and the end result will be worth it.
  5. Please remember if you do what you did, You will get waht you got. So no more bad habits. Say no every time until you loose all the weight you want to and are at goal. That is making use of the tool you will be getting. Hubby is also being banded 10-21-11. Good luck to you.
  6. Good luck. You are on your way to a new life and a new you.
  7. First of all stop guzzeling anything. Remember to eat slow. Don't drink when you eat. Before and after meals drink water like a fish. You might need to go in for your first fill.
  8. It is so important to become a lable reader. Rasin ceral is not low cal or low carb. If you want this to work you have to eat the right low carb foods.
  9. Maybe it is time for a fill. Go back to the basics. Only you can control what you put in your mouth. I know with just a little efort you can do this. I am rooting for you.
  10. You look amazing. You only have 12 to go. You are so close. Continue your hard work AND you will reach your goal. You are a true inspiration to us all.
  11. Way to go. Hubby has surgery set for Oct. 21. Minewill hopefully be before the end of the year. You are an inspiration. You let us all know that with hard work it can be done. Keep up the good work and you will soon reach your goal.
  12. I am sorry for the attitude you had to face. I would never let anyone cut out and reroute my body parts. The band has more success long term than by pass. Yes by pass looses quicker, but recent studies say more is lost with band over the long haul and weight stays off better with the band. Make sure you educate yourself so you can make you good infromed decisions. Also I have heard that people strecht out their small by pass pouch and gain all that weight back. Then the also go in for banding.
  13. Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!! I hope my time comes soon. I can not see any megatives with either band. So I am sure you will do well with the realize. There was a member in our support meeting who had one and she siad she choose it because it was less metal. She lost over 100 pounds and was at goal. She looked and felt great.
  14. Educate your self by reading an asking lots of questions. Join a support group. They can really help guide you through the process. Good luck to you.
  15. You are on your way with a good attitude. Keep up the good work and do everything you have to do in order to suceed. Hunger is just a feeling and it is okay to feel hunger. Ignore it and it will go away.
  16. Thank-you so much for sharing your experience. I think I am going to go with the Allergan.
  17. Thank-you for the wonderful site. It is so helpful !!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Steve we can do this. My surgery is going to be right around the same time as yours. I do not have an exact date yet. We can do this together. Did you see Dawn and crittle birds responces. Wonderful advice.
  19. My hubby is also doing the opti-fast. Surgery Oct. 21. He is drinking 3 a day only. He is allowed clear liqiud 0 to very low calorie food such as diet popscicles, beef broth, diet sods, diet jello. On his paln Dr. said you can have up to five optifast but he stresses he really wants us to stick to 3. So check and see if you can drop the optifast to 3 and add clear stuff. Hubby lost 10 pounds in 6 days. Good luck to you.
  20. I am going to be banded about the same time as you. I went to a support meeting last night and the people that were banded had lost from 80 to 140 pounds. Every one of them had said it was the best thing they ever did. They were very open to share the good as well as the bad. They stressed this was only a tool. It still takes hard work and dedication. I want my life back after 40 years of trying to loose weight. Good luck and keep the faith. Donna
  21. Thank-You for replying to my post. I thought it was a good question, but no one is sharing. I have posted a couple of times and I do not seem to get any replies. I was just going onto this site to disenroll. I felt like all there was were negative posts and the positive ones or ones with questions were ignored. This makes a pre-surgery patient question this whole process. I wonder if this is going to be a right choice for me. I guess I am getting a little scared. I hope some experienced people will answer our question. Donna
  22. For those of you who have had it done, which band did you choose and why? My physican and office staff said either is fine. They are leaving it up to us the patient to decide. Please help me decide. Is there a pro or con to either selection. What made you decide which band to choose. Thanks for any help. Hubby is being banded Oct. 21 and I hope to be in Nov/Dec depending on insurance approval. Thanks for all your help and advise.
  23. You made the first step by telling someone. When was the last time you had a fill? Is the a WLS group in your area? You can do this you have the most important toll in you. Try to remember how good you felt 150 pounds lighter. The biggest thing is clean out your house of anything junk food related and fill it with only the things you can eat. Good to you. Ypu can do this. You are on the way.
