  1. These two caring members gave you some really wonderful advise. The only thing I will add is do your homework and gain as much knowledge as possible. Go to support meetings and ask others who have had it done. Make sure you have a good physican. Read everything you can. Your mom will have a lot to say and be a great resource. Good luck and the best to you. I am 56 and I have been overweight since I was 16. I now have 200 pounds to loose. I wish I had done it sooner.I hope to have my band by Dec.
  2. It was explained to us by the physicaans nurse. She said to imagine a funnell filled with applesauce or baby food. It will just sit here and move slowly , but if you add water to it, the food will go out of itquickly, This allows more to be added. Thefunnell is like your stomach. I also had a sister tell me that if we add fluid while we eat it interupts the enzimes in our mouth that starts proper digestion. Remember the band is just a tool. We have to do it 100% to get the results we want. The little things make a the difference between loosing at all or staying the same. Happy loosing.
  3. I am so sorry you are having trouble. The banding is jsut a tool. Why are you setting yourself up for a bad outcome by having anything in the house you are not allowed to eat? Did you do all this for nothing? I hope you will take a hard look at what you have to do to make this weight loss a new way of life. If you do what you did to get you fat you will remain fat or get even bigger. I really hope you will stop any excuses and give this a chance to work. How bad do you want to be thin? What are you willing to do inorder to get htere? Good luck to you. Make the right choices.
  4. Hello Debra: I do not have to loose any weight before surgery. I just have to show 6 months of physican assisted attempts to loose weight. As a mattter of fact I have been eating anything not nailed down. I actually lost 2 1/2 pounds in my first month. (I usually only eat 1 meal a day) I live in St. Petersburg area . I hope to have the surgery before the end of the year. My husband John will have his banding Oct. 21. He starts his 2 week liquid Friday. Good luck to you.
  5. Good afternoon. I wanted to take the time to say hello to everyone. I am currently doing the 6 month weight loss attempt from physican. November 1 will be my last appointment, then it will be soon to schedule surgery, I hope. I can't wait to read everything here on this board. It appears to be a wealth of experiance.
