  1. Hi guys. Just popping in to Celebrate that I am finally having my sleeve done tomorrow. So excited! Does it seem weird that I am more excited than anxious or scared, or is that the good thing it feels like to me? My surgical team says to expect to be in the hospital for 2 days and they intend for me to be on full (not clear) liquid diet when I come home, but we'll see on that score as they release me from the hospital. My biggest concern or fear for adjustment after the surgery is getting my Water guzzling self (6-8 glasses of water, a waiter's nightmare, during meals not before or after) to adher to a policy where liquids are 15 minutes before, not during and 30 minutes after a meal. What the hell am I going to do? Portion and food types and liquid diet and everything else doesn't seem, pre-op, like it will bother me so much as just represent a big change. Not being able to guzzle between bites... seems like it will be a catastrophic change. I'm sure my new sleeved tummy will help in this area by not signaling me to start drinking, but I wanted to ask the vets: does your body signal to you to drink something during your mealtime when you can't?
  2. I am coming late to this discussion its been a few weeks since it was really active. I'm at T minus One day for surgery (aka 5:30 am tomorrow) so thoughts on reaching my weight loss goal may seem premature. But I think that my surgeon's goal for me of about 240lb vs. a bmi chart 162.5 being so vastly different I'd like to hear more from more people about what they chose their goal to be and when/if they changed their minds. I went ahead and put in the 162.5 as my goal in my ticker because I do want to be as healthy as I can be and avoid ever getting diabetes. Which, not having diabetes and being 240 I think I would still be at risk of getting adult onset. Congratulations to everyone who posted wherever you are in your wls journey, you all are an inspiration.
  3. Hi guys! My surgery is on Monday-two days' time- at long last. Looking forward to hearing your stories and hopefully building a fla network. Yasman
  4. Hi! My date for sleeve is in two days - July 14. I'm also told the stay should be about 2 days. I'm in your same boat wondering what I should take, apart from the incentive spirometer which they gave me at the pre-op and told me to bring with me to the hospital.
  5. Hi guys, I'm 2 days away from my long-awaited surgery (gastric sleeve) and need to replace my home scale(s) with something that will be more accurate and I can track in between office visits. The ones I have now include a rotary dial thingamadudebobber and the wii balance board. They disagree with each other and the balance board disagrees with itself within the same application or with different games from game to game. And, all these readings can be anywhere from 15 to 40 pounds difference with the doctors office. So, I'm looking for a scale that will first and foremost be accurate within a reasonable range to the doctor-visit scales. It needs to be able to read weight up to 400 lbs. and I'd like for it to have bmi and bone density etc but thats not important. I'm hoping to spend between 30-50 dollars but would spend more for the right scale, up to 100. Can anyone suggest yay or nay on the scales you have for your weightloss journey? I have been looking at the Healthometer that goes with the app Loseit! and the Weight Gurus and many others that I find on sale now. I have an android phone so most of the ones that automatically update an app on your phone don't work for me because they are all iphone centric. I would still consider those if they are *accurate* and people here like theirs. Too much information? Just tell me what you like or don't like about your scale, and what model it is. Thanks in advance! Yasman
