    Introduction

Opps, I got confused. Last week, and this week I've only had chicken broth because that is all I had in my place. But, on my pre-op two week clear liquid diet (with protein shakes) I did use lots of beef broth. It actually satisfied me, becasue I knew that was ALL I could have. My diet for the last three weeks has consisted of popsicles (SF), Jello (SF), chicken and beef broth, and protein drinks*. (*added on Friday only) Post-Op: ONLY 20-30 grams of clear protein per day, plus trying to make the goal of 64 fl oz of Clear Liquids everyday.

Oh, I didn't realize you already had your surgery! Well, that makes a big difference. Yes, I can have Protein drinks since I am post-op week one. I will be at this stage til next Friday, September 16, each week (7 days) is a new start for me. Well, have you tried the unjury non-flavored protein? You can use this to added to other drinks (ask you nutritionist what you should do) If you don't like the chicken broth, try beef broth (Swason brand) it is the best in my opinion. I purchased several containers that way I knew I had enough to last me. I think if I had to drink just chicken broth I wouldn't had made it, I dislike the vegetable broth (gross, yuck, etc). Yes, I agree with you. I'm kinda affraid about doing the same thing, starting next week I can have up to 1/2 cup per meal of soft foods. I have measuring cups to make sure I am only taking in what I am supposed to have. I plan on asking the RD questions regarding my future diet, this is going to be very new to me. The great thing is I have lots of material to read and try to make sense of, but I still have concerns. @ kauai bound, I wish you total success with your process, I'm right there with you! Offical now, one week, and two days post op ...thats exciting to say, I'm so glad I've made it this far!!!

I was able to start taking my MVI on post-op day 3, not before. That was my MDs rule. I take Bariastric fusion chewable Vitamin. No more going back to regular vitamins!! I'm going to stick with the ones I purchased! Besides, regualr MVI make me sick...weird, I know, but true.

I haven't ate anything yet, BUT GasX has been a great friend of mine. My MD said I could take it...so give it a try..ONLY if it is ok by your MD to take it. Girlfriend..make sure to walk, breahte (use the incentive spirometer), and sip...walking will make a HUGE difference, I promise!!! The reason I said "Sry I made a mistake"....I just got started, very very new here, and didn't know how to reply to a message. This is kinda confusing, but getting used to it slowly!!

It does suck! I will NOT sugar coat that for you! But, you can make it. You have to, you want the MD to be able to get in your body with ease and do his or her best. It helps to shrink your liver, which is extremely important! I am one week, one day post op so I just left that part of the process (I so understand what your going through). I was feeling awful today, like weak and dizzy. I've been pushing fluids and chicken broth because of the sodium thats in it makes me feel like 100% better. Because I am still on liquids, I have to find ways to make this go more smoothly. And so will you, and you can! Next week you will be posting how wonderful your surgery went!!! Congrats on the surgery date!!!

    One week post op

Me too! I am one week, one day post op. I don't miss last weeks pains AT ALL!! It was tolerable, but at times very painful. I take Tylenol (liquid) as needed if I feel uncomfortable and aching. I've noticed that this week that I still do have lots of pain, but it is not an excurciating like last week. I'm still trying do the following: WALK,BREATHE and SIP. That was an absoulute must last week, this week I've focused more on pushing liquids, due to the fact I can feel when I haven't had enough, my body lets me know instantly..I feel BAD!! So today, that has been it, DRINK, DRINK, more drink!! I'm reading others post, I am assuming everybody has to follow what their MD has suggested that they do...especailly when it comes to stages in food. Mine seems totally different, in a good way of coarse. It is laid out in weeks and very detailed to what you can have. I'm still on liquids only, soft food doesn't start until next Friday, September 16th, and boy oh boy, I am looking forward to eating!! That will be the first time since my two week pre-op liquid diet! Thank GOD thats over!! Well look forward to chatting with everyone on this forum, have a goodnite!!

    So excited!

That is great! So was my surgery, I am one week and one day post-op as of today! I'm hanging in there, reading my material, and NOW able to drink Protein drinks as of yesterday. For one week, I was clear liquid only, with 20-30 grams of protein daily. So, my diet consists of popsicles,Water, chicken broth, Jello, and NOW cloudy Protein shakes. I really don't know what to expect, I plan on just enjoying the ride and doing whatever it is that I am supposed to being doing. My only concern is the following: Starting next week (Friday), I can have "soft" foods, like Soups, pudding, potato, eggs etc. BUT ONLY half a cup per serving. When it comes to Soup, how will I be able to only have a 1/2 cup per serving three times per day?...I can now drink more than 4-6oz per hour, up to 8oz, of course these are all sips (not gulping aloud). I DON'T WANT TO CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY NEW TOOL!!! Also, are there any questions I need to ask the MD on my 1st post-op visit? I have a few, but for those that have been there and done that suggestions are welcomed!!! Thanks!!!
