  1. I am 2.5 weeks out and filled with regret. I know that this is temporary! It HAS to be! I guess I am just thinking about how huge going out to dinner has been the center of all and everything social for my family and now, I will never be able to really be a part of that again. It is so weird. I went to see my doc after one week and he put me on mushies. I didn't feel ready, because everyone on here is on full liquids much longer than I had to be. I definitely don't want a leak. I waited a couple of days and have just started mushies. A couple of bites of anything and I am done. I don't want to live my life on a couple of bites. Also, can anyone tell me....will I have to sip for the rest of my life, or will I ever be able to drink major gulps at a time. I am so thirsty and sipping isn't cutting it. I have one more full week off and go back to work the beginning of April. I hope my energy will be up for the little Kindergartners. They take so much energy to teach! This has been a struggle and I have to say, it really has all just been in my head. Physically, this has been easy. Hopefully one day, I am going to tell future sleevers my story and that it DOES GET BETTER!!
  2. Good luck Tiffany!! I wish you a speedy recovery!
  3. I have never heard of the 5 day pouch test, but hear a lot of you talking about it. Will my surgeon tell me about it someday?
  4. I would love it. Dazykrazie@hotmail.com Thank you!!
  5. I would love it too! Dazykrazie@hotmail.com thanks!
  6. I had surgery one week ago. Right before I was leaving my house to leave, I went to the bathroom one more time and SURPRISE, there was my period! I was like in shock! No PMS, no warning, nothing. I just went with it. It is gross for sure. Got the paper panties and used my own pads. They measure your pee every time you go and they never empty it. Then my roommate would always go after me and there was my bloody urine. It was gross, but nothing horrible. Just go with it!
  7. Hi all, I had my 1 week post op visit today and my Doctor said, "let's go ahead and start you on mushies!" I am SHOCKED! I don't feel ready. I told him that when I drink my chest gets tight. He said that is perfectly normal and will go away, maybe in 6 weeks or less. He said our stomach is actually much higher up than most people think and it is still feeling the trauma. This is the thing, it seems like mushies after only 1 week post op is sooner than I would have thought. Is this normal for everyone else? All these surgeons all have such different guidelines. I think I am just going to give myself a few more days of full liquids and then start mushies. THe good news is, I lost 10 lbs. since the surgery and I am down 22 lbs. TOTAL!!! ALso, for a NSV my wedding ring fell right off my finger! Crazy! Does anyone else have or had tight chest issues for awhile? Good luck to all! Tracy
  8. I have a tight feeling in my chest all the time. Truthfully, that is what bothers me the most in all of this. Whenever I take a drink, that tight feeling in my chest comes. I see the doc tomorrow. Never even heard of this issue on the boards, so kinda wondering why that is. Does this eventually go away, or do some of us get this?
  9. Congrats Cess! That is crazy about your roommate. Sounds like her life is a soap opera! I also hate the liquid diet thing. I am so ENVIOUS when all my family is eating. This will change, I am sure! At least it sure better!!!
  10. Wow! I am sorry you are going through that. Sometimes I also think my stomach is too small. It sometimes feels weird to drink, like in my chest, not my belly. I can't even imagine being on mushies as soon as you are. Good luck and I hope it gets better real soon!
  11. What does NSV mean? I thought I knew, but when I saw how it was used in the sentence, I know I don't. Thanks! Congrats on the jeans! I am just excited my ring fell off yesterday after 5 days post op! lol I love hearing people say they love their sleeve. I am in the "what have I done to myself" stage!
  12. I live in Riverside also. I was sleeved on the 14th. How can I get info. about this group? Would be interested in joining up with you in May.
  13. I feel like I am having BIG regrets after surgery too!! I can't stop thinking about what an extreme measure I took and did I need to take it this far!? Let me just say, I am not even a week out. I had it on Monday and this is Friday night, but I am just anxious to get through these liquid stages and mushies and feeling normal eating real food. I know I will get over this. I am just freaking out a teeny tiny bit! No going back now, so time to work the sleeve!
  14. I love reading this thread. We all seem to be in about the same phases. My surgery was Monday 3/14, and I am on full liquids. I haven't had a protein shake yet. I think today I will give it a try. I mostly drink skim milk, diluted grape/apple juice and last night I opened a can of chicken tortilla soup. I strained it and ate the broth! It was sooooo GOOD and I loved the warm feeling in my new tummy. It even helped with some gas pains I was having at the time. My doctor told me that the first week, to take a one ounce sip every 15 mins. He said that I didn't have to worry about getting my protein in or vitamins in. He said that we have enough vitamins stored to get us through this first week. My only concern is to not get dehydrated. I still have moments of thinking "what have I done to myself"?!" I know this will pass as soon as I get through this first stage. My cousin had the sleeve over a year ago and LOVES it and she looks awesome!! From what I read on here, nobody seems to have any regrets!!
  15. Where do you get the Nectar? Just curious.
  16. Hi! just wondering how you did?! My sleeve was on the 14th as well. I am hanging in there. Just trying to deal with the gas! Would love to hear how you are doing!
  17. I am on the LOSERS BENCH!! Woo Hoo!! I came home today. I was off pain meds the morning after surgery. I threw up a few times. The first time was after the Upper GI. Another time, I took sips but a bunch real quick. No time between them. Glad to be home, just trying to get rid of these miserable gas pains. How long does this last?? Dana, I love your You Tube videos! I have been following faithfully. It is nice since I am a week behind you and you kinda show me what is coming next! Good luck to everyone!!
  18. This is a great post! Thanks for starting it. Tomorrow is my surgery and last week I was 239, but I think with the pre-op I have lost 10 lbs. I will know for sure tomorrow. I love that at 8 weeks out, I will probably be in Onederland, according to many of the people from this post! Cool!
  19. Tomorrow is my big day! I will post when I get home. I have a 3 day stay at the hosp! Good luck to all my other friends going in tomorrow!! Can't wait to hear how everyone does!
  20. The time is finally here!! For some reason, I am just anxious to get this over with. I am going to be really pissed if I don't wake up! lol Seriously, if something did go wrong and I am one that didn't make it, this surgery would be my most selfish act as a mother. That is my only concern. I am doing this to have a longer life with my baby. Can you even imagine the opposite?!! Okay, stupid me just read a book from Amazon written by a surgeon for WLS. Of course he had to talk about losing a patient to a blood clot. ARGH!! Oh well, I am a big believer in fate. Hope to see you all on the losers bench in a few days! I have a 3 day hospital stay. Seems longer than a lot of you that I have read about. My surgeon does that for all his patients. All our surgeons are all so different! oh well, Ready to get this over with! I guess I should start packing now! Tracy P.S. I will let you all know if sniffing alcohol pads takes nausea away!
  21. Wow! I can't believe you are able to eat solids at 4 weeks. That is GREAT! Thanks everyone for responding!
  22. No Pain pump for me! That actually sounds nice. You get to be in your own bed AND you still have the pain pump!! Good luck! I will get back on here the first chance I get!
  23. Hi Jennifer! I hope you are doing good today! Tomorrow is our bid day! I can't believe you are staying 1 day only. My doc is making me stay for 3 days. I am not sure if I envy you and would love to go home or if I want to be at the hospital through the worst of it. TIme will tell!! Good luck tomorrow. I can't wait to hear how you do!
  24. My surgery is Monday. YIKES! I was just wondering how most people felt 4 weeks out. That is my birthday. Are you still on liquids or puree? Just curious how people felt after one month!
  25. Hi, My surgery is Monday at Fountain Valley. I was just wondering how the hospital was and if you had any kind of review you could give me for their bariatric floor!?
