  1. Hmmm...I wish I knew if mine was going to be micro surgery...I will have to ask!!!!
  2. Thanks for the info!
  3. Forgive my ignorance..I am TOTALLY new to this site. Haven't even had the lap band procedure performed yet. My question is: Will TOFU be allowed after being banded?
  4. Hey...I'm an RN, too and use to work Oncology...lots of Port-a-caths...maybe we can do our own fills!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Thanks! That info will be very helpful for me when the time comes.
  6. I'm so glad I found this post! I am having my surgery in Mexico and was wondering about the aftercare!
  7. I haven't told too many people, either. I just told my 28 yr old daughter today and she was fine with it until I mentioned I was going to Mexico to have it done. Then, she freaked. I assured her it was not going to be out of the surgeon's garage!! Well...now everyone that knows me through her will know...she has a big mouth. Only one co-worker knows and that's only because she, too, had the lap band performed several years ago. I haven't even told my best Friend. She will worry her head off, so I will wait until after the procedure is performed. I have not told any other family members. Its none of their business. I'm actually kind of excited being so "secretive"!

  9. I am a 57 year old woman living in Richmond, VA. I am 5'4" and weigh 220. Most people cannot believe I weigh this much. It is mostly in my tummy and butt! Most people wil guess my weight at about 170 - and I always tell them to be honest. But, I was always thin up until I was about 42. Then, I developed Bilateral Adrenal Tumors. With those come uncontrolled high blood pressure, LOTS of cortisol, which I am sure you know causes "excess belly fat". Any kind of stress - physical (from stubbing a toe to major trauma) and emotional (from financial worries to being depressed about being fat) causes more cortisol production. Then, it became an endless circle....I'm stressed because I'm fat, I'm fat because I'm stressed, etc, etc, etc! So, in reality, I may end up having the lap band surgery and eating lilke a bird and still being fat!!!! But, I am going to have it anyway and hope for the best. If that happens to me, then I will just accept being a skinny woman in a fat body!!!!!! I am so grateful I have found several of these Forums. Everyone is awesome and special in their own way...fat or skinny...we are all beautiful! My surgery is not unti October 14, so I will just be lurking around reading about everyone else's progress. THANKS!!!
