I also had very low iron, around 8. My doctor had me take 1 iron supplement with orange juice 3 times a day. I was up to 11.4 within 2 months.

Thanks everyone! I am having surgery with Dr. Ortiz at alighter me. So far I have had all of my pre-op labs taken and I will be sleeved in the morning. Now that I am here the nerves are gone and I am excited to be on the losing side. I will check back in when I get a chance.

I have been using Chike protein powders and I have liked them a lot, especially with fruit mixed in. Maybe you can give those a try.

I am scheduled for June 20th in Mexico. I started my pre-op diet a few days ago and so far so good, but I'm dreading the clear liquid stage. I'm excited but also a little nervous. Glad to see so many others going through this process around the same time as I am.

Hello, I am just begining my lap band journey and was wondering if there is anyone who has already gone through the process who can tell me generally what the timeline for approval is with Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am just wanting a general idea of the steps in the process that Blue Cross requires, and a general timeline for completing those steps before they approve the surgery.
