  1. Hello, all! I am new to this site and was wondering if there were any Diabetics out there with Insulin Pumps, who have had the Sleeve done? I am going to be the first patient to do so in my region, which is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time! i want to be a great patient and success story, so that i may inspire other Diabetics who have lost all hope. I am Type II with Type I tendencies so I am very excited to see how this surgery will affect my illness! I am not sure how much improvement to expect, so any comments would be appreciated!
  2. Really anxious to get started with my journey, now that I have heard from a few "pumpers". Seems like some Sleevers with Diabetes have huge success, while others have marginal results as far as reducing or eliminating their Diabetes meds. I am newly hopeful that I may be able to stop taking Insulin altogether... Special thanks to Dawn for sharing her story with me 1 week post-op....Congratulations on your success so far!!!! Shelley
  3. I lost about 20lbs my first month, and another 12 in the second month. I have not exercised much, but am starting a program now. I think 15-20 the first for weeks is probably standard, and I was very happy with that number!
  4. Awesome! Congratulations on your prize!
  5. Hi, I am 8 weeks out, and i have lost 32lbs without much effort. I was alittle sore at first, but surgery for me was sooooo worth it! I am now strating to exercise, and hope to see great results! Good luck in your journey! Shelley
  6. Hi, Adri... Would you mind sharing how Insulin dependant you were before surgery? I was taking 700-800 units of Levemir daily (7-8) injections per day, until I started taking my Insulin by pump. Before surgery, my A1c went from 12 one year ago, to 9 once on the pump, and now my A1c was 7.7 three weeks post-op! This is the best A1c I have had in many years! I am encouraged by your experience...
  7. THIS SURGERY SAVED MY LIFE!!!!

  8. 38 days out...I have dropped 25lbs.so far..my blood pressure is normal, and I have stopped using Metformin and Januvia! My surgeon thinks I may be able to come off of my insulin pump in 20-30lbs. I have more energy and feel better than I have in 20+ years!

  9. 15 days out and have lost 18lbs so far....Yeah! Recovery was not too bad, and my blood glucose levels are getting better everyday!

  10. 16 days and counting....Happy Birthday to me!!! lol

  12. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! So I finally get a Pre_Op appt and a surgery date within 30 days after that....I have been working through this process for 8 months now, and my Supervisor says " I am not sure I can give you 4 weeks off for an elective surgery!" Never mind that my last extended time off for surgery was 5 days for a knee scope in 2001! UNBELIEVABLE!!

    AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your input! It is nice to know that I may not need 4 weeks....wasnt sure, but I do help lift patients off of the scan table ( I work in a fixed base MRI scanner at a small hospital). I have applied for STD and FMLA for my WLS as well as for my Fibromyalgia. I was also planning more time possibly due to being dependant on a pump for my insulin therapy. Thanks for all of the great info, and for listening to my frustrations!
