How have you all been? Since I moved to FL I am working more than 60 hours a week so I have not been on much. I try to read everyonce in awhile to get caught up. Sonia - How are you? I saw you had an interview back in Feb, have you landed a job? Not sure if I missed it. Mandy - How are you? I saw you got a new car a few months back. Are you planning your trip to FL this year? Have you heard from LaLa Since I have been in FL (Sept 07) I have been struggling with a slipped band. :frown: In January Dr completely unfilled me. And I have had no fill since. I had lost 80 punds in total, only to have to put the weight back on in order to get a replacement approved by my insurance. They would only pay to have it removed since I was below a 40 BMI. Well since I put back on 50 lbs, they finally approved it in April. I am suppose to go in 6/26 for the replacement, however last monday I was diagnosed with a staff infection and then I had my pre-op on Thrusday and my EKG came back with a problem that I have to see a cardiolist before I can have surgery. :frown:I figure something was up since my blood pressure has drop significantly when I was putting on weight. Used to be 120 - 130/80's and now it has been 110/70. The last possible day I can have surgery before my approval runs out is 7/3, then we have to go through the whole approval process again. I have already cancelled he surgery once (orginally scheduled for 6/12/08). I have been on th eliqud diet and struggling with it. Boy oh boy am I a stress eatter. I know it will all work out in the end and it is a good thing we are finding the issues now instead of right before surgery. I just wanted to share my update with my friends in IL.:smile: I hope this finds you all well.

He is trying to get approval with my insurance to replace it with the AP band. He has done more the 2500 bands and knows my Dr from IL really well. I take it the one you mentioned is different than the AP band?

I just thought I would drop in and wish everyone a happy new year. I found out this week that my band has slipped and I have to have it fixed or replaced. It has been a struggle basically since I first had any restriction which was back in August. If you remember I had it completely unfilled in October. In November I was filled back to 6 cc in the VB. I have lost 35 pound since the end og Oct and 19 of it since the end of Nov. I have lost a total of 79 pounds. So I am waiting for Ins approval for the surgery. My new isurance will not cover, Thank God I continued my Cobra. Anyway I am glad that I found out. It has been miserable, all the acid reflux, not being able to sleep through the night, pain etc... I just hope I can get the surgery and move on soon. Mandy great Bike. Congrats! Great job Sonia ~ hope the job search comes to an end soon. Hope your interview went well in IA. jessie, glad to hear everything is okay. I just posted on orignal post wishing you luck, really glad everything worked out for you.

I just found out this week that my band has slipped. I was slipping in Oct my Dr did a complete unfill and left it for 4 weeks. It appeared to have been okay and he did a fill to 6 in an 10 vg and I was go for the first 4 weeks after and the I went another 6 weeks. However during the 6 weeks teh acid reflux was so bad I had to throw up just to calm the acid down (gross). Night was the worse I was up every 1/2 hours for weeks throwing up. He has finely unfilled me completely and is working on getting insurance approval. He wants to replace it with an AP band. It is suppose to be a better band. I have to wait 30 days unless they can get is approved sooner. Usually if I call the insurance company it helps to expedite things so I am going to wait until next week to give the Dr office a chance to get the paper work in. 1/31/08 wil be a year that I have had the band. Unfornately I did notr get my first fill until May and then in August started having problems with the band. I have lost 79 pounds and I am hoping to get everything resolved soon. Jessie good luck. Dr Denham out of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare is another one. Good Luck hope you find a dr that will work with you.

I had afill in August and at that time before I left the office it hurt to swallow Water but it went down. I was throwing up a lot, but then it got to the point the I was throwing up every time I ate (after about 3 weeks) and then when I would eat teh pain in my chest was so bad I could not stand it and would throw up. I recieved the fill inIL and within 2 weeks moved to FL. Part of my problem was moving and not being able to get into see a Dr right away. When I did see the Dr in FL he did a fluro and watch as I swallowed "stuff". When I drand the stuff it fluro refected my band was slipping. He removed all the fill "5.8" in a VG band and then I asked him if there was a chance the band would go back on it own. He took me back into the fluro room and showed me the the band is back in place. So see if your pain goes away in a few days if not I would have it checked out. In the mean time try going back on fliuds for a few days and gradually go back to solids again. This may help as this is also a part of my healing process. Good Luck!

Thanks Sonia and Mandy. I feel alone down here I have to find a group. If only I had some time. I work every night until at least 7 pm Hopefully will slow down. I am having a hard time eating since I have no fill. I do not know how you did Mandy. It is mostly because I work until 7 or 8 and then right now my mom and dad are in IL. She was cooking for me but she has been gone since last Tuesday and so I have been eating out since I do not feel like cooking when I get home. I know this is really bad. How are things with you all?

I saw Dr Lee Grossbard today. He actually knows my surgeon in IL very well. He knows him and his wife since when they were married. Anyway, he had me drink the stuff so he could see how it was going down and he pointed out that the band was slipping. So he offered to take out a little bit, however he said if he had done my surgery he would take it all out and give my stomach and the band some time to heal. So guess what I told him. He took out all of the fill (5.8). I then asked him if the band would go back into place and he said it was probalby back in place already. So he took me back to the fluro room and showed me that it was back in place. So I am back on liquids for a month until I go back. Dr Grossbard is good, he has a band himself and has done about 2500 lap bands. He prefers the band and belives it to be safer. I have to drive 1 1/2 hours to see him but it is worth it. Anyway, I will be thinking of you guys this weekend while you are getting together. Have fun. Have a great time!

Yeah how is everyone. I have been really busy since my move to FLorida with the new job. I have been having a lot of problems since my last fill 8/21. I am pb'ing everyday and last week the acid woke me up it was bad to say the least. I finally got a hold of a Dr here but they may not take me. I spoke wiht the Dr assistance and she has to talk to him and they will let me know, but she did say they have to get me in becaus eof the problems. I started back on a complete liquid diet in teh mean time to try and heal teh stomach and see if it helps to get rid of the pain. So far so good. I have lost about 20 punds this month from not being able to eat and pb'ing when I do. Hopefully I can get in soon. I just do not want anything to be wrong. Lala ~ hope you are doing well. I did not post often because I have been in the middle of moving to FL from IL. Now that I am here and start a new job tomrrow maybe I can focus more on loosing the weight. Deana, Where in Northern IL are you? My Dr practices out of Evanston Hospital, however has office hours in Vernon Hills and Gurnee (Last Tuesday of the month). They do not have a problem doing fills for Lap Band patient who had the surgery do else where. Dr Denham 847-570-4120 (Debbie will schedule your appointment). There is also a support group meeting tomorrow night for only Lap Band Patients at Highland Park hospital. Welcome to IL. I am actually moving out of state to FL next week.
