luvnursing reacted to kczar in What Insurance Can I Take Out To Cover Sleeve?I've been reading this forum the past week and decided to register to give you some information.
I've been without insurance for years and needed to to get my gallbladder removed. After doing some research, I found the pre-existing insurance plan. It's a government program available in certain states. Go to www.pcipplan.com and check it out. The only requirements are that you have been without insurance for at least six months and either have a pre-existing health condition or a letter showing you have been turned down for insurance (not hard to get - I got turned down strictly because of my BMI.) It's a PPO plan and I pay about $300 a month. They require a six month diet and exercise plan but otherwise it looks like they cover it.
Good luck!

luvnursing got a reaction from LilMissDiva Irene in My Surgery Is Tomorrow MorningI am home now and my surgery was 2/3/12. Everything went well according to my surgeon, my surgery was a little longer than he expected because I had a hiatal hernia he repaired while he was in there making my sleeve. When I was in the PACU I felt the worst of the pain. It did get better and I decided to stay an extra night because of the nausea i was experiencing. I still have pain, but it is more like sore abdominals from intense core workout. And the dreaded gas, is contributing to my overall bloated feelling but Gas-X strips are helping alot. Was sent home with 2 rx for Loretab and Zofran in liquid form to cover the nausea and pain. I am on full liquids now until post op appt. then I can go pureed food. I am beyond happy that this part is over with and I can begin my journey. Will keep you guys posted and thanks for all the support.

luvnursing got a reaction from BOMBSHELLY77 in My Surgery Is Tomorrow MorningMINE IS TOMORROW TOO!! Scheduled @ 7:30am, I have been nervous pretty much all day long, even though I am thoroughly educated on the proccedure and process ( I'm a nurse). Statistically it is safe, lower chances of major complications than arthroscopic knee surgery, but when you are going through it, a totally different prospective, this is an instance when knowing to much will drive you crazy, i keep running thru what ifs and if this happens then etc, etc, etc ( having a hard time turning the nurse in me off). I will say prayers for you and hopefully you have smooth start to the journey to a new you!

luvnursing got a reaction from mommy794 in Approved!I have been lurking on the site for about a year cheering on everyone's successes and being inspired by people's triumph over the more challenging aspects of their journeys. I was in a dead sleep this morning sleeping off the effects of 3 back to back 12 hour shifts, when I got the call from my insurance coordinator @ 10:45am. When I saw the phone number, I was scared to answer because I was afraid of being denied but i put on my big girl panties and answered the phone. She said I am happy to tell you that you were approved by your insurance company. After I got off the phone I literally jumped out of bed and did the stanky leg and started dancing and crying at the same time. Happy New Year to me! Just waiting for the surgery coordinator to call me to schedule pre-op and surgery date.
