  1. I have had both mouth ulcers (canker sores) inside my mouth and cold sores (fever blisters) on lips, my entire life. I have not had any since surgery but I do not attribute the decline to the surgery. Personally, I have never heard that they are linked to vitamin c deficiency. I have had labs pre op and post op and I am not deficient....so I don't see the connection.
  2. Hey guys! I'm in Conway and was sleeved in Van Buren by Dr. Goodnight on 3/28/11. I have lost 67 since surgery day but 115 total since starting my journey. I am actually going to have a photoshoot in a few weeks to do some marketing for Dr. Goodnight and Summit. I'm really hoping that this will help get the word out in AR about the Sleeve and what a great option it is. Just to introduce myself.....I am a wife, mama to 2 kids of my own (4&8) and to two foster children (5&12). I work from home but travel to NWA almost weekly for work. Great to connect with you all! P.S. Holly- Dr. Goodnight has a very good self pay price. Not sure what you're paying in MX (and not asking or being nosy) but just wanted to throw that out there.
  3. I didn't realize you were in AR!! I'm in Conway. Jim- just replied to one of your other posts, but I will post here as well. I also had surgery with Dr Goodnight and cannot say enough positive things about him!! Mine was 3/28/11 and I'm down 67 since surgery day (115 overall). I travel to FS some or work, so I'm hoping to make one of the upcoming support group meetings. We should have an AR sleevers meet up sometime b/c I think there are a few more of us on here.
  4. Welcome Jim!! I had surgery with Dr. Goodnight on 3/28/11 and cannot say enough positive things about him!! Have you gone to any of the support group meetings? I live in Central AR, so I haven't been able to make it to one yet. How have things gone for you since surgery?
  5. That is HANDS DOWN the coolest wedding video I have EVER seen! There were multiple times that I said "stunning" with some of the photos of you. I especially loved the rooftop shots at night at the end of the video. What a beautiful couple and such a special way to remember it! Best wishes on your new life together!!
  6. I have a dumb question.....but is there such a thing as an "automatic" instead of having to switch gears? We live ON a bike trail and I LOVE riding my bike, but i royally suck at changing gears and have never felt like I learned the proper way to ride. My bike was purchased years ago at Target and I know nothing about bikes. At the time, it was one of the most expensive ones they carried, but I have no clue what kind I should be riding. Our trails are paved and I would love to ride on roads (we have an awesome cycling community here and they do lots of group rides).....but I've been too embarrassed to join in b/c I feel like an idiot that doesn't know when to shift gears! LoL!! We have a great bike shop in town and I've been meaning to go, but thought I would ask you guys since there are some avid riders on here.
  7. This is a tough one for me because I have been trying so hard to hold off on shopping until I absolutely HAVE to go down in size b/c I don't want to waste the money. Example, bra I'm in now is 38D but it's on the tightest notch and I can fit a cell phone and a tube of lipstick in there with zero problem. FYI....rings are literally fallingoff so I've stopped wearing them. I'm waiting to get them sized until I get closer to goal. Don't know the numbers on that though. As far as shoes, I have always been a solid 9 and sp far that has not changed at all. Before (at 300+.....highest weight, not surgery day): 3x tops, 24 pants (snug), 12 panties, 44DD bra Current (185....just shy of 5 months post op): M or L tops, 12 jeans are loose, 7 panties, 38D bra is loose. Now......my tiny sister gave me some clothes the other day that she has RECENTLY had on her body. I didn't been try them on at first because I thought "no way will these fit". Wellllllll.......hold on yo your hats.......they FIT! Size 10 pencil skirts and the one that made me CRY HYSTERICALLY in the bathroom is a size 8 denim dress that buttons up the front ith cute little capped sleeves. I never in a million years thought I would fit into a size 8 again! The thing that's driving me nuts is he difference in sizes! How in the world can I fit into a size 8 dress and certain size 12 jeans still be too tight?!?!? Argh!!
  8. Mine was due to Potassium. If you have had issues with it in the past I would definitely get labs drawn. I didn't have cramps this time, but did have dizziness which had not been a sign for me in the past. Don't want to mess around with it though. Also dehydration can ake you feel these same things so make sure you're getting your fluids.
  9. I've heard of others saying they didn't like MFP b/c it wasn't letting them go below a certain calorie goal, etc. I have never experienced that. It didn't like how low mine was, but after I went in on the site instead of the app it was fine. I used FitDay for years, but love MyFitnessPal sooooo much more.
  10. GOAL!!!! Officially in the "overweight" category and not obese with a BMI of 29.8! ____________________________________________ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lanette........199.9..................184.6...........185...........0 Oh happy day!!!!
  11. SO CLOSE! ____________________________________________ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lanette........199.9..................185.2...........185..............0.2
  12. 300 beginning weight before PCP required 6 month visits. 270 at consult with surgeon 252 day of surgery (lost 18 on pre op low carb diet) 185 today (surgery was 3/28/11.....so lost 67lb post op at just shy of 5 months) Loss has slowed to 2-3 lb per week average but I am NOT strict. I don't count ANYTHING. I do try to get mainly water to drink and I try to eat my protein first at each meal. I'm "active" but not a gym rat. So far I've been in that "lose in spite of yourself" stage. So, if it slows down much more I will kick things up a notch but so far I've been pleased with my loss. Started at a size 24 and the jeans I have on today are 12's.
  13. Only 1.8 to go! ____________________________________________ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lanette........199.9..................186.8.........185.............1.8
  14. Here are the stats.....down 4.3 so far for this challenge. ____________________________________________ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lanette........199.9..................195.6...........185.........10.6
  15. How are you doing now?
  16. I have heard horrible stories about this surgery and it's not something I can really ask on my Facebook. I'm wondering if any of you have had it and if you feel the painful recovery was worth it. Would you do it over again?
  17. Going to try for 15 lb this time because that will take me from "obese" to just "overweight". ____________________________________________ SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lanette........199.9..................199.9..........185..........14.9
  18. Did you get to go home since it dropped again? Been praying for ya.....keep us posted.
  19. Hang in there! I know how hard that first week can be. I had a horrible time on day 3 & 4 because I just wanted something besides Clear liquids. I can tell you that I started taking my PPI at night instead of the morning and that helped a lot because when you wake up in the morning your stomach is already empty and add to that you are at the end of your PPI b/c it's once every 24 hours. I also stopped taking my liquid pain meds b/c I think that was causing more discomfort than good b/c of taking it on an empty stomach. Just do what you can to get through this first week and PLEASE know that it gets better!!! We've all been there and it's like childbirth when you look back and it's a distant memory. Week two was SO much better for me and it will seem like your life revolves around what and when to eat/drink for a while but I promise it won't be that way forever. I am at my 3 month mark and life is just blissfully normal now. So hang in there!!!! Keep us posted on how you're doing. And like everyone says....sip, sip, sip. Worry about your fluids more than Protein this first week. Especially in this heat....you do NOT want to get dehydrated. Take care of yourself and rest! Xoxo, Lanette
  20. When I was at my highest weight (300lb Easter 2010) I said I wanted to lose 100 lb at least. I started my VSG journey by going to my PCP (June 2010) for my 6 months insurance requirement. I said then that I hoped to be under 200 by 7/4/11. They all thought that was to aggressive and my surgeon did as well. From Easter 2010 to surgery day, I lost 48lb (weighed 252 at surgery on 3/28/11). Today I weighed in at...........199.8!!! I almost didn't believe it but I took a picture of the scale to remember it by! I am so thankful for this journey and more thankful to have all of you to share it with!!!
  21. I can't believe I hit it!!! Oh happy day!!!! SN................Starting Wt..........Current..........Goal...........Lbs to Goal Lanette.........225.5.....................199.8............199.9.............ZERO!!!
  22. I'm so sad to hear that it's not going better today. Thanks for the update....please keep us posted. Do they think the problem with your veins is related to the low potassium?
  23. Hit 200 today on the nose! Goal was to be UNDER 200 , so hopefully I'll check in tomorrow with stinking .1 loss! Either way, this is a HUGE milestone for me b/c this marks 100 lb total loss since I started this journey! It is the craziest feeling in the world to think I'm going to be out of the 300's and 200's forever! ! I'll check in tomorrow or Monday when I am officially in onederland!
  24. This scares the crap out of me b/c mine was 3.1 on Tuesday. I didn't realize it could drop that quick. Please keep us posted!
