  1. Hello all September Bandsters! I'll be joining you tomorrow morning. I have to leave home at 4:30 a.m. and be at the hospital at 6:30. My surgery is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and I will stay overnight in the hospital. Being banded with plication. I'm so excited.....it's been a long, long journey to get here. Will be back when I'm on the "other" side. Peg
  2. Congratulations on moving to some soft foods! That's great. My surgery is Thursday. Can't wait. I'm soooooo very ready. This is a great support group. I've learned so many things here. Keep doing what you're doing! I'll probably need help next week! Take care. Peg
  3. Hi, I'm being banded with plication on Thursday, the 29th also! We'll have to stay in touch. Good luck to you. I'm so excited that it's hard for me to concentrate at work. I just want to get it over with and start my new life. Take care. Peg
  4. Good luck today with the surgery! Can't wait to hear how it went. Take care. My thoughts are with you. Peg
  5. Hi Kat, I'm thinking of you today while you're having your surgery. I know all will go well for you. Let us hear from you when you feel up to it. Take care! We're all here for you! Peg
  6. Hi Erika, Same day as me! Yay for us! Don't be nervous. You will NOT fail at this. I have been on so many diets throughout my adult life, and I could usually lose easily enough, but then the weight gradually piles on again. I'm doing this so I have a good tool to help me control how much I eat. I need this so very much, that I know I'll make good choices with food, too. You'll do the same. Have confidence in yourself. It's going to work. Good luck next Thursday. Do you have an overnight stay in the hospital? I do. Talk to you later. Peg
  7. Take care, Jill. So glad you decided to have the surgery. You'll be in my prayers tomorrow. I know you'll do great! Let us hear from you as soon as you feel like it. Peg
  8. Hi Jill, Sorry for your broken heart right now, but you do have to do this for yourself. If you don't, I think you'll regret it. It's good that you have family and friends near you to help you along, and know that we are all here to, to help as we can. I'll say a prayer for you! Keep us posted. Good luck. Peg
  9. Congrats, Eric! That's wonderful. I hope I'll have as good an experience next Thursday when I get banded. Keep up the good work! Peg
  10. Good for you, Becky Jane. Take it slow and easy. I'll join you next Thursday. Can't wait. Good luck with your band. Peg
  11. Good luck! We'll all be thinking of you and know that it will go well. Let us know once you feel like getting back on the forum. Peg
  12. Hi Diva! Who is doing your Lap-Band surgery? Are you having it done in Richmond? I will be banded on the 29th as well, and I am on the same diet. My surgeon is Dr. Matthew Brengman - Dominion Surgical Assoc. at St. Mary's Hospital. Good luck to you! Peg
  13. Good luck on Thursday! I'll be thinking of you. Please let me know how you get along afterwards. My surgery date is the 29th. Take care! Peg
  14. So sorry for your loss, Pam. Is that a grandchild that you're holding in your picture? So cute! I'll be on full liquids for 2 weeks, 2 weeks of mushies, and then on to solids. Doesn't that sound just yummy? I, too, am glad to be a part of this new union of the band and plication. Sounds exciting. I know a lady in my church who has Lap-Band, hers slipped and had to redo it. When the dr. did the surgery again, he also did the plication. I look forward to a brand new friendship! I'll definitely stay in touch. Peg
  15. Hi, I guess I forgot the most important thing about the plication--helps the band from slipping! My nurse practitioner said that I would have to be on full liquids for 2 weeks with the plication added. Is that what you're having to do? I just wish next Thursday would hurry and get here! Glad to know you've had the same thing. Let's stay in touch. Wooo--shaved our legs! Whoooopee! Good for you! Did you have a hard time doing it? Once when I had surgery I had my husband shave my legs. It was the most pitiful job I've ever seen. He ws afraid of cutting me, so he barely touched the skin. It was really useless. Ha, ha!! Take care. Peg
  16. Is anyone besides me having Lap-Band with plication? My doctor just started doing it with the band. He says that it helps with the hunger issue and also probably helps you lose a little faster. Anyone? Peps
  17. My pre-op testing included blood work, chest x-ray, and EKG. I also had to attend a 4 hr. meeting last week with a bariatric nurse and dietician concerning all aspects of the surgery itself and the diet progression. It was very informative. Good luck! Peg
  18. Hi! I'm having surgery on the 29th also! I'm also planning to stay out of work until Tues. or Wed. of the next week (depends on how I feel). My life coach that I had to work with for a year said that she urges her patients to take a week off because it's a lot to get used to--diet, and feelings. I may end up doing that, too. Good luck next Thursday! Gosh, NEXT THURSDAY!!!! It's so close now. I'm very excited as I know you are. I'll be thinking about you then. Take care, and hope that all goes well for you. Peg
  19. I'm definitely in favor of a September Post-Op Discussion Group. We're all going to need advice and support for each other. Who is going to get it started? Peg
  20. Yep, day 5 of the pre-op diet. I've done really well and am not too hungry. Yesterday we had a dinner at church (fried chicken!), but I stuck to my Protein shake and a small apple. That was a bit frustrating. Do you get to eat any solid foods? For dinner I can have 4 oz. lean meat and unlimited veggies so long as they're not seasoned with butter or good ole grease! Ha, ha!! We're gonna make it!!!! Please keep me updated on your journey! Good luck to us all. Peps
  21. Hello All, Had a 4-hr mtg. on Mon. with a bariatric nurse and dietician. On Tues. had to go back to hospital for meeting with nurse practitioner and have all lab work done. Started liver-shrinking diet yesterday. So far I haven't bitten anyone's head off. Ha, ha!! My surgery is on the 29th, and I am so ready for it. Sounds like most of you have had positive experiences as far as the surgery and afterwards. I'll be joining you soon! Take care, everyone. Peg
  22. I don't blame you one bit. You're going to get up those steps with flying colors! I also know what you mean about coming down the steps. My husband calls me "Grace" because I seem to fall a lot. Just be very careful! And thanks for the tip on the hot tea with lemon and honey. Will do! Let me know how it goes tomorrow. Prayers are going up for you! Peg
  23. Will keep you in my prayers! I know how it is...you don't want anything or anyone to get in your way of your surgery date! Mine is Sept. 29th, and I just caught a bad cold from the rest of my family. I'm going to have to watch it closely because it usually turns into bronchitis with me. Can't be sick on surgery day!!! I hope you get up those 2 lights of stairs tomorrow. I'd sit on my butt and go up if everything else failed. Ha, ha!! Take care!
  24. Don't worry! It will be fine. Before you know it, it will all be over! Will be thinking about you tomorrow!
  25. Hi Jill, Welcome to the September Bandsters!! I have my surgery on the 29th. I meet with the bariatric nurse and dietician tomorrow, lab work and meet with nurse practitioner the following week, and start my 2-week liver shrinking diet on the 15th. I, too, have hd the "last supper" syndrome. I've told my husband all the places I want to eat and what I want to eat until then. It's crazy! Well, we're glad you've joined us. Take care. All of us are willing to help in any way. Peg
