  2. diabetes removed from medical record as a health concern. @@ginabee38 no meds shortly after sleeve 5 years ago A1C last month, was 5.1 !!! doc also says i will always be "considered" diabetic even though i'm fine without meds controlled with food/diet there are benefits saying you are diabetic!!! (in remission) sounds crazy i know my insurance pays for certain things wouldn't usually be covered podiatrist - i get my toenails clipped for free no pedicure though sob sob he checks for neuropothy (msp) i get one pair of free shoes yearly (they know you could have corns, hammer nails) bunions (had those on occasion ) i'm also able to go to optometrist for yearly check-ups (blindness etc can happen being diabetic) sooooo, guess you can look/find good in the bad the sicker we are/more co-morbidities we have the easier it is for insurance to approve us more is more!! (hmmmm) life can be so strange sorry i went off on a tangent ooooops - almost forgot i get a new Ford Focus every 3 years because i'm diabetic!! nawwww, but it would be cool LOL kathy

  6. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch silly head i was referring to the "writer" of this thread @@LisaMergs look to her profile left of her pic it says weight loss.............. she wrote in 111 lbs!!! i was commenting on HER wonderful weight loss then saying congrats!! sorry if i wasn't clear hope no one else was scratching their heads i am 2 months shy of 5 years po at the end of my first year PO i reached my goal losing 105 lbs past couple of months i have crept up/fluctuated about 6 lbs that's why my ticker says 99 lbs lost, 6 lbs OVER GOAL it's been hard for me to lose those lbs now i WILL lose it though don't/can't let 6 turn to 8 then 10lbs then............. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch - status you said Q: "Why does the lapband fail?" A: Because it doesn't study.... tooooo cute/funny kathy
  7. @@mstrice welcome, welcome, welcome!!! we've been waiting for you!! always room for one more cutie the sleeve was developed many years ago (100+?) it was used to help OP with stomach cancer after a while, docs were realizing people were losing lots of weight then they used/invented the sleeve for WLS i don't know exactly how many years sleeve has been around for WLS? 15+ years?? "maybe" longer i was sleeved 12/15/11 i am couple months shy of 5 years PO 4 years GOAL there ARE others i see post on the board that are more than 5 years PO OP don't show up that often but they DO exist many VETS here that are 1-3 years PO good luck with finishing jumping the hoops of insurance hope DOS is sooner than later speedy recovery kathy
  8. hey Tex i see after losing 34 lbs you are in twoderville!!! when was the last time you could say that!!! you'll continue to do great - i just know it!!! BUT - don't get tooooo comfortable i know you want to move to ONEDERLAND sooner than later sure, you are right it is not always peaches and cream work through the stalls, even possible gains (eeeeek) gotta work hard you work with the sleeve, and it will work with you!! best of luck to you continued success kathy

DOS i wasn't even aware of a possibility of a drain (i hadn't seen/read anything about drains at the time on the board) i did have two drains later when i had plastics didn't hurt, or give me any problems sleeping was fine too just a nuisance!!!! anything that gets you to the finish line of WLS procedure being done - is worth the couple of aches and pains pre- and post-op good luck with sleeve speedy recovery kathy

  19. @@weightglitch went to seminar/conference spoke with doc, he recommend sleeve 5+ years ago sleeve wasn't that common never heard of it - some docs didn't know what it was!!! really, not kidding doc and i talked about options of WLS he explained different situations (bad or good) about the lapband (lappers please don't yell at me sob sob) most know there are issues with the lapband - rarely done anymore because of problems) but many work terrific, no problems (i'm being PC, polically correct) LOL gastric bypass is the "gold standard" (i think that's the expression) any malabsorption (my spellcheck doesn't correct spelling of words sob) concerned me there can't be any question that my meds must go totally through system sleeve sounded like the best solution (kindof process of limitation) docs info and suggestion made me decide to go with sleeve almost 5 years PO (4+ at GOAL) - sleeve is/was wonderful and maybe best decision i ever made for myself good luck kathy

  24. please post/start/update your tickers and profiles it's helpful for "readers" to know your stats - DOS, starting weight, weight loss, GOAL, height etc- if you are pre-op/post-op - this info helps us, help YOU - thanx from the profiles i see, everyone weighs 0 lbs, 0 weight, 0 height etc - huh, really LOL go to your name in the top right hand corner (area) click, you'll see the words "my ticker" in the 2nd column click - "create new ticker" - then follow directions good luck kathy

Hey Tex glad things are moving in the right direction seeing #'s on the scale, clothing sizes and measurements going south wonderful feeling - sure that makes you feel better about yourself all warm and tingly!!! you deserve health and happiness - always!!! when i googled on Topamax it highlighted this below warning/side effect "Do not start or stop taking Topamax during pregnancy without your doctor's advice" being of the male persuasion, i don't think you have anything to worry about LOL hope things have been settling down/improving at home too things have calmed down? improving a little too? glad you have gotten back on your horse!!! ride em' cowboy congrats on losing 6 lbs!!! that # is as great as you are!!! good luck your friend kathy
