Sorry guys I've not been around, been kind of depressed about my lack of weight loss. At one point my home scale was saying I was down 8 lbs a week after surgery...now it saying only 2 lbs. It's my fault because I've not been sticking with a strict diet....I just don't have the willpower right now and the band has no restriction so it's just like it was before. I'm really hoping for some better results after my fill on the 18th. Shauna

Just wanted to say I am soooo happy...weighed myself for the first time in a week and I was down 6 lbs! I am so surprised because I don't have much restriction and have been eating pretty much whatever I want, just in smaller portions. Might hit my goal weight in time for my 40th Bday after all! OK, guys, sorry, just need to vent here for a second. I just found out yesterday that I am out of a job. I paid for the lapband surgery myself and put myself in debt to do it. Plus my fills are $370 each. Now I'm not sure if I'll have the money for a fill when it's time. Just kinda bummed out. Shauna

You may be one of the lucky ones and get restriction right from the start like your nutritionist! If not, at least we can keep in mind that the hunger is temporary until we hit our "sweet spot". The way I see it is worst thing that can happen is the weight comes off a little slower/a little later than our original plan (mine was very aggressive), but we are still going to get there! I would check in with your surgeon's office to see what they recommend....if you get dehydrated you'll end up in the emergency room and that's no fun! I have the opposite problem....I've been starving since day 3 after surgery. I have NO restriction and am totally bummed out about it. Have to wait 6 weeks for a fill too. Doesn't help I've only lost 2 lbs. since start of pre-op diet. Looks like this weight loss may be slower for me than I expected. Hoped to reach goal in 6 months for my 40th birthday but that's looking like a bit of a pipe dream now. Shauna

Welcome Scott, and so glad to hear from the others recently banded that are checking in as OK! I'm headed to a support group that my surgeon's medical practice holds every month for lap band patients, it's pretty awesome. Does anyone else do those? Here you go...from way back on page 7! Food: sugar free popsicles sugar free Jello protein shakes fruit juice/milk/crystal light (I LOVE the Walmart brand of crystal light) soup Medical: Gas X Strips Scar cream or cocoa butter Ice packs Heating Pad Lip balm OTC Pain reliever General: drinking straws electronic scale hand blender new set of knives (nice and sharp to cut up food!) "Bandwagon" book small rubbermaid containers to help portion out food food scale measuring cups

There's 2 schools of thought here...one says, just wait a week or two, and the numbers will start coming down again (you are on a mini-plateau). The second one says your body thinks it's starving with so few calories and isn't letting go of the weight for that reason. In which case, you should temporarily UP your calories (say to 1000+ a day) for a few days to see if that fixes it. I can't tell you which one of these is right, but those are your options. Shauna
